Resulting from the conversation - I asked if anyone knew a source for good tamales and one of the barbers recommended the ones his mom makes. Well - I bet those are good - and I did (for the record) request a notification from him when his mom makes the next batch so that I can make a purchase! That being said / I'm still wanting a good tamale. I decided to go to George's because they offer fantastic desserts made just like the ones my mom, grandmothers and aunts all make. I thought they may also have tamales! Well what do you know - they do offer both! I ordered and promptly disposed of the tamale spread (as it's called on the menu)! It was delicious - several meaty tamales covered in a homemade chili sauce with cheese and a generous helping of chopped onion (optional for others - but not for me). The tamale spread was awesome! I had ordered a piece of chocolate cake for my appetizer (not unusual for me). I finished that piece of cake after I finished the tamale spread. I washed all this down with some splashes of Louisiana Hot Sauce on the tamale spread and a large glass of ice water that was generously refilled by the fantastic server, Heather! I recommend this dish and the dessert and will definitely repeat! I, of course, always appreciate the clean and friendly setting and reasonable prices! Bon appetite!

The burgers are great (as good as anything you'll find in a restaurant) and they give you an irresponsible amount of fries. The regular fry feeds TWO people, the large fry will feed YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY FOR A YEAR. This isn't as hyperbolic as you might think. It's a ton of fries.

The ambience is mid, it's kind of dirty in there. I half expected to see a roach or perhaps a rat even. The food is okay, could be better though. The fries taste like cardboard, but the Cajun style fries are great! The burger is bland--though that's probably because I just got a plain cheeseburger. However, some seasoning on it can make a very very big difference. I also like that they have a Coca Cola freestyle machine. I'd marry it if I could. Bonus; I saw this daffy x bugs drawing on the wall I thought was peak. Anyways overall it's not bad, but it's definitely not my first pick. Theres just nothing about it that stands out to me. ‍

I am a bit shocked tonight to write this post... But this was the worst experience I have had at this Cracker Barrel or any Cracker Barrel in a long time maybe ever. The food was not on, and the service was not on. Sometimes you experience a little blip in one or the other area, but rarely both and not usually spectacularly poor in both ways. Blah and bland would be great terms to use. Just downright blah. And disappointing. To top it off, I purchased meals using my app or at least my rewards information. It appears that none of that information has been loaded onto my app, despite having purchased the meals to the tune of 800+ dollars 4+ days ago. When I inquired as a store, what could be done pretty much there were shoulder shrugs. I could've asked for a manager and maybe I should have just didn't have it in me to fiddle with it tonight. We ordered our hash browns scattered (spread out on the grill), smothered (covered with onions), covered (with cheese), and topped (with chili). But, after a few minutes, our server dropped by to tell us the chili wouldn't be ready for at least 20 minutes. They had chili in the back, but it wasn't ready to be served. ~Oh, lovely. Hubby decided to get his hash browns without the chili, but I opted out completely. When they brought his hash browns to our table we were shocked how small the order was. We've never been served such a small portion of hash browns at any Waffle House, and we've eaten at Waffle Houses all across the United States. When we commented about the portion size our Server laughed and said "Well, I guess it depends on who the cook is". What???? What does that mean? Also, I want to add that the restaurant was extremely empty. They would have been in big trouble if they had been busy because their service was very SLOW. Our server even waited approximately 5 minutes before she ordered our food. She said something about him being behind and he needed to catch up. What???? The restaurant wasn't busy at all. So, poor customer service, poor serving portions, lack of available menu items, lack of urgency, and too expensive for this type of casual restaurant. WE WON'T BE BACK. We won't be back.
