    Spicy Southwest Salad
    Steve G.

I just discovered the spicy chicken southwest salad. Amazing! The grilled chicken, corn, black beans, and veggies all come together really really well. I especially liked the lime pitas that they include as a topping for the salad. Give it a try!

    A classic!

As always the freshness and taste of the signature chicken biscuit is on point. It's a little smaller than the competition but good quality. Service is friendly.

This is the coolest CFA I've ever been to! It's located in a historic building, and the drive thru line goes into the old parking area! Inside the building!! My chicken sandwich was hot and fresh, made just like I ordered it! Fast dedicated service for the drive thru customers! Keep up the great work!

Food: deluxe meal and spicy salad, unsweetened tea and lemonade and soft serve. The soft serve in a cup for $1.40 was not soft - they need to work on that. Service: the line went relatively fast, but we weren't offered straws or ketchup so I had to go back for that. They'll bring the food to your table. Food as expected. Ambiance: large, clean dining area. Bathroom: use the code from your review to enter. Clean.

    New drive thru downtown!!
    Rebecca C.

Thought it was so cool that Chickfila opened up a drive thru downtown. Unfortunately, this is not nearly as efficient as their other locations. You'll spend 5-10xs longer in the drive thru line then you'll spend at any other location. At first I thought they were still just getting the hang of it, but they've been around long enough where they should have it figured out by now.

    Large fries

If we are going to pay for a large portion but get a small portion what's the point of paying the extra charge to make it large. Now I know to check my order before leaving this location IF I go back.

    Soggy bread

Definitely was disappointed after three days of not eating and being in the hospital I finally was able to eat, but was disappointed with the way. The meal was the bread was completely soggy. The vegetables were completely old. The fries were still and cold. The drinks were messed up my boyfriend got a refund on the drinks and on the fries, but not on the sandwiches. In my opinion everything should've been refunded.

This review is for the drive-thru only. If you aren't familiar with downtown and the one way streets you may have some trouble finding the drive-thru, which thank goodness is on Soledad, a two way street. There are two drive-thrus and it wasn't busy when I went by on a weekday at 6pm. I could barely hear the employee asking to take my order but he was very polite. He told me to drive up to the window and I pulled forward but only saw sliding doors with no employees nearby. I kept driving thinking I would find the window and ended up back on Soledad so I zoomed through the drive-thru again and stopped by the sliding glass doors. An employee finally arrived and motioned for me to stay put. I heard an another employee approach his coworker and apologized. I think the apologetic employee was supposed to keep post at the sliding doors and that's why I didn't know to stop. They probably should have told to stop at the glass doors instead of a window. Now that I know the process it will be easier should I come by again. The food was no longer warm once I got home and the fries were browned from overcooking but didn't taste bad. The lemonade was delicious. Oh well. This Chick-Fil-A is right across the street from Hampton Inn so I'm sure the guests will appreciate having it so close by.

Unfortunately, that was exactly the case during our visit to this Whataburger. We placed our order through the Whataburger app at 12:17 a.m. after spending the evening enjoying downtown San Antonio. Despite ordering ahead, we did not receive our food until 1:16 a.m.--nearly an hour later. What made the experience even more frustrating was watching numerous customers who ordered in person after we arrived receive their meals 30 minutes or more before ours. There appeared to be no organized system for handling mobile orders. I want to be clear that this review is not directed at the employees working the counter and kitchen. They remained professional, kept their composure, and worked as quickly as they could under what was obviously a very difficult situation. They deserve credit for maintaining a positive attitude despite being overwhelmed. The responsibility rests with management. This was Friday night in downtown San Antonio, and there was a major concert at the Alamodome. None of this should have been a surprise. A competent management team anticipates predictable surges in business by scheduling appropriately, preparing inventory, and ensuring operational systems can handle increased demand. Instead, it appeared the restaurant was understaffed and unprepared, leaving employees to absorb the frustration of customers. That's not fair to the staff, and it's certainly not acceptable for paying customers. What happened wasn't simply a busy night--it was a failure in planning and leadership. When management prioritizes minimizing labor costs over being adequately prepared for predictable demand, the customer experience inevitably suffers. I hope the ownership reviews what occurred this night. The employees deserve better support, and customers deserve the level of service they expect from one of Texas' most recognizable brands.

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)

They came with a few spicy pickled veggies as a side. The limonada was as expected . I highly recommend a fried quails legs. We enjoy eating quails, but it's usually bittersweet relationship because of all the small bones however their appetizer for fried quail legs is super user-friendly. If you are scared of choking on small bones, these will not give you that kind of worry at all. We were impressed on how well-made and easily eaten they were. Our waiter was very friendly and he checked on us a few times. He was also the one that suggested the fried quail legs. We walked here .

The chicken is also quite hot spice-wise. They don't give you the option to select spicy or mild, so I just assumed it would come out mild. I was wrong. It was spicy. The server said he'd put it at a 7/10 in terms of spiciness. That's fair. On service, it took a while for the food to come out, more than 20 mins, but I guess that's because the chicken is made fresh? I arrived right at 5pm. Potato salad and Mac and cheese don't take much time to scoop, so the wait was a little long in my view. Many other tables didn't have food either. Servers seemed nice and friendly. On ambiance, the location is south of downtown, and riding a scooter to get there is not advisable, as mine ran out of power mid-ride. Would not re-start. It's a pretty basic setup indoors but at least the air conditioning was working well. On value, it was a good meal for $21.38 including tax and tip.

My family and I with three SMALL children came to McDonald's located at 101 Alamo Plaza, San Antonio 78205 to feed the children. With PERMISSION from the McDonald's staff, we began to gather the children at the "managers table" that is ONLY used for the MORNING SHIFT. After we began to feed the CHILDREN, David Fredrick (from security) approached my African American brother and said to his face, "you all have to move, this is reserved for managers only." AFTER my brother shared with him that we were granted permission to sit there he proceeded with "you need to move, you can't read?" At this time David Fredrick proceeded to grab the stroller which still had two small children in it to insist we move. We now felt like the children were in harms way of David Fredrick. Not a second later my sister asked for a manager. After speaking to the managers (Gonzalo & another), they kindly apologized and granted us permission again for us to SIT and STAY where we were sitting because it was only reserved for managers in the morning. After hearing this, David Fredrick STILL insisted to speak, and this time turned to my sister and stated, "WOMEN WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU." With the level of unprofessionalism and racism that David Fredrick showed was an embarrassment to my family. He should be fired immediately and his security license revoked. No guest of Texas or customer of McDonald's should ever have to feel the way we did. We were looked down upon. We were rudely spoken too. And the look of hatred was written and shown all over his face. We will never return to this McDonald's again. A sad and hurtful experience and one that we did not want the children to EVER have to witness or be in the midst of. Our receipts CLEARLY show, we ONLY ordered for the children. Such a disappointing moment to have experienced here today. A representative from Texas V. Security named Angel Rodriquez finally showed up to the McDonald's facility to get the full incident and apologize on behalf of Texas Veterans Security. We thanked Angel for his kind words. We hope Texas V. Security takes this matter serious as things could have escalated as David Fredrick approached and touched the stroller of the children. No family should ever have to feel like they have to protect their children from "SECURITY." The person being paid to protect us. After this the sign, "reserved for managers" was removed.

Shrimp cocktail was big, but we started fighting over the shrimp pieces. There was plenty of onion and tomato left over after the batttle. Pollo Asado was a great flavor and the chicken was juicy. Grilled squash that was on the side was good. Chicken enchiladas were good and had freshly sliced jalapeños, which is always a welcome detail. I wasn't able to taste the quesadilla but my daoughter said it was "really good". Fried Chicken sandwich had a great flavor and the bacon was actually pork belly if I'm not mistaken.
