For this round, I tried out the special sauce on the chicken patty sandwich and then dipped fries into it. The special sauce tasted like muted barbecue sauce. I couldn't make out what the other flavors other than the subtle barbecue flavor. Overall, the sauce was pretty oily, so it didn't provide a balanced punch to the already oily and fried chicken patty. If I were to try this sandwich again, I'll skip the special sauce and go for the mustard. Maybe ketchup would have been a better alternative. (also, not sure why there was no ketchup, is that common in Chick-fil-A?) The chicken patty was good, not crispy but it was very juicy. The breading was lightly seasoned, so I didn't have a salty mouthfeel afterwards. The buns are pretty soft, so after taking the photo, the moment I grabbed it, the bread easily surrendered by my hand pressure (I wasn't even squeezing it). By two or more bites, the bun was as thin as a tortilla. The fries were piping hot, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the ideal fried potato. However, for ordering a large, it didn't have many. Generally it feels like a good place to have a snack but its portions are light. read more

Is Chick-fil-A has got to be one of the quickest locations I've ever been to. Literally in five minutes your order will already be finished and they will have it ready for you. However, this location has some of the absolute rudest staff you will encounter. To save time I ordered over their app, which in itself was an inconvenience, but when I entered the restaurant, the employees that I encountered were very passive. I asked where I needed to go to retrieve my food and was ignored. Even even more when I finally found the location, the employee who is serving me had an attitude. She asked me my name, and at first denied my order. Even though she saw that my name was on the board, and that there are two bags in front of me, which are literally right by her that had my name on it she opted to go to the back to waste time. It came off like she didn't like being told what to do, but I was just trying to help her save time. Now, when she finally gave me my food, she said absolutely nothing just handed it to me and didn't even respond to me thanking her for it. Her rudeness didn't ruin my experience, but it definitely put a damper on that Chick-fil-A reputation that is known for excellent service. Other than that, parking outside is very hard to find. That's not surprising because it's a Chick-fil-A but having to go above and beyond circling for an open spot, definitely doesn't give you the best set up to enjoy a meal. There are two entrances -- the closest one to the parking lot is actually for delivery only, so walk toward the street to get to the main entrance where you can order in person. When it came time to order, I told the worker that I wanted to use my points on one of the sandwiches. I scanned my app and didn't see a change in price. I asked the worker if it covered one sandwich. She said yes. When I checked the receipt, I noticed she didn't use my points. We took a seat and our name was called and a worker handed us our food. We're a regular at the Emeryville location just because it is closest to us in Alameda. My boyfriend loves Chick-fil-a so much that he chose his health insurance to be in Dublin and Walnut Creek to justify the trip so he could get his hands on their chicken before this location opened up. (Not that he needed any sort of excuse to make the drive). However, this visit, our fry and bread quality was very poor -- like level 2 out of 10 poor. Our large fries were filled with only small bits; no whole waffle fries. They were burnt and hella brown as you can see from posted photos. They were not hot or warm at all so definitely been sitting out a bit. The taste was disgusting so I'm thinking a fry oil change was overdue. As for the buns, they were soggy and one set smelled/tasted like bananas which was off putting. I'm not sure if bananas were stored next to the bun sack while it was open or it was present during baking at the warehouse but the essence was very much there. Service was good. We received all expected sauces, were given extra when asked, and food came out within 12min after arriving post mobile order. With the exception that we received no napkins and no straw for the frosted lemonade so we had to go back in and ask which was annoying. Overall, the food was good, and a good value for the price. Now, the negative thing about this Chick-Fil-A location......no drive-thru. A very long time ago, I was a fast food mgr. Drive-thrus make alot of money. Somewhere, someone had to make a very hard decision not to put a drive-thru in this restaurant. Lots of people love the convenience of a drive-thru. Finally a Chick Fil A closer by my house! I was really happy to see this location being built and then opening up. So far, I have came here around 3x since they first opened. Their food IMO is pretty standard to their other locations around the Bay Area. I have not become disappointed with the quality or the taste of the food from here so far. I ordered a Cobb salad today and the filet was super crispy! It definitely satisfied me. Service on the other hand is OK and the employees I've encountered were friendly and maybe overwhelmed (I don't blame them). They have been operating for less than a month so there's definitely some tweaks that need to be smoothed out but that is something to be expected. This is a very busy location and there is no drive-thru. There is indoor and outdoor seating if you choose to eat at the location but if you are ordering to-go and grabbing just a few things, I HIGHLY suggest downloading the app and ordering for pick up. There's eight different sauces, mayo, mustard, hot sauce and honey that you can request with your sandwich. The chicken patty is good sized but thought it looked dark golden brown, it was not as crispy that I would have liked. It was a good fried chicken sandwich, but my favorite is still at the place with the name of the cartoon sailor. Finally open! They gave out some freebies at opening. This was previous a Panera bread, This shares a parking plaza with Target. No drive-thru. However, at grand opening, everything was done so fast and efficient that there was always parking available. The line went quick even if it looked full.
