Walked in was greeted very quickly. I love the aroma heavenly. I looked at the menu. Such a great variety. Prices very friendly. I purchased a slice of pizza. So huge. Went to the car ready to drive off. My daughter bit my pizza. She said oh wow! I'm going to purchase a slice. Every bit of season used you can taste. It was the most delicious pizza I've tasted. I love love pizza. Thank you for the wonderful service. The pizza and garlic fries! Delicious

Located in downtown Oakland on the intersection of 13th & Harrison Street and I pass by this place all the time so I figured I'd check it out. All I got was a slice which came out to $6 plus tax and tip which is a bit much in my opinion but bonus points for the convenience factor. The service was quick but there wasn't really anything special about the ambiance or the inside of the restaurant. The pizza itself was foldable, had a thin crust, and was hot. Decent enough pie shop if you're looking for something quick.

    Margherita pizza (regular 14 inch)

I've walked by this place many times and have been amused by their mural that shows Steph Curry holding a pizza box. I finally got to try it yesterday and I ordered a margherita pizza, regular 14 inch size, for pickup online. The pizza was ready when we got there and it was a quick, smooth process to pick up the box. The pizza itself was pretty good overall, it wasn't particularly a stand-out compared to other margherita pizzas I've had, but the main part of the pizza was decently yummy and salty, without too much red sauce. The crust/bread part was rather plain, however. They only gave us one packet of parmesan, so we supplemented with leftover cheese packets we had at home, which definitely improved the flavor. Overall, the pizza is pretty thin and the crust is not puffy.

    Meat Lovers Stromboli w/ sauce

It's Friday night in Oakland, and I went to try the Meat Lovers Stromboli at Basil Pizzeria! A stromboli is like a rolled pizza. It's fillings are your favorite pizza toppings stuffed into a giant tasty turnover. You slice it into segments, and dip them in the marinara sauce. A stromboli is not a calzone. A calzone is a folded pizza, and it's edges are crimped. The Meat Lovers Stromboli is delicious! I added extra cheese and mushrooms, and it still costs less than $20. This stromboli is loaded with Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Ham, Salami, Pepperoni, Sausage. Because it's a rolled pizza, it's easy to handle and not messy. The place was busy at 9pm on a Friday night. Looks like they were training a new guy to pass out orders. Well, my order was right!

Everything I ordered was good! The Chicken Tikka Masala pizza was better than I expected; great flavor with a mild spiciness. The Funghi pizza was as good as I expected. Love me a pizza with Alfredo sauce. Fried raviolis were good, perfect little appetizer. The calzone was good too, but a little on the greasy side, probably because of all that meat that was trapped inside. And the cannelloni were the perfect little dessert. Service was quick, and the staff were super nice! Looking forward to coming back soon.

    Chicken Alfredo pizza!

Came by on a sunny Wednesday afternoon for some pizza, we called ahead and was told pizza would be done in thirty minutes(which was perfect because our drive was 24 minutes)! This cute little pizzeria sits on the corner of 13th street. They have a 20% off a order of $35 or more right now and it's perfect if you order a pizza, calzone and some dessert(which is what we did). My boyfriend was unwilling to come at first, he's "cutting/leaning out". We're both pretty health conscious people, but he's been pretty strict about his diet. Well, when I opened the box in the car and he smelled the pizza... oh my did it smell amazing. He ate it and wasn't even mad that I ruined his streak! To simply put it, this place puts all the right herbs and spices on your pizza without making it greasy and heavy. That's what I love about a good pizza place. The owner was actually working the cashier too, and super nice! I appreciate business owner who are also working in the shop, and interact with their customers. What we ordered: - Chicken Alfredo pizza - cannolis - grilled chicken calzone(to bring home to his siblings). If you come here and want a fragrantly seasoned pizza, the Chicken Alfredo is the one. We'll definitely be back to try their other pizzas!

    Cannoli. Really good!

Yum! If you like thin crust pizza, as I do, you will love this pizza! Not the cracker kind, the traditional perfect chewy, stand up crust. Any older crowd may recognize the long since closed Granada's pizza from Berkeley. Similar, only this is not greasy. I usually go to SF to Tonys, but if I am getting pizza to go or want to stay on this side of the bay, for sure will be getting pizza here! Cannoli was fresh and delicious too. Enjoy!

The $57 pre-fixe menu -- which changes every other week, is incredible in value. I don't think there's a better quality set menu in East Bay. Our meal started off with a trio of appetizers: a cured Atlantic mackerel, a lobster mushroom croquette, and a gulf shrimp chawanmushi. For the two of us, the perfectly fried croquette was our favorite item. The mushroom filling inside was such a wonderful punch of umami to start the meal. While I've had a bunch of chawanmushi in my life, this was the first time I've had a cold rendition of the dish. Between the appetizers and the main course, we had a vegetable potage soup. Like the appetizer course, there was also a mushroom incorporated in the dish, tying the meal together. The soup was incredibly complex, with multiple waves of flavor in each bite. For our entree, we had miso pork belly over a bed of rice with an onsen egg. I'm generally not the biggest fan of pork belly because of how fatty it often tastes, but I really enjoyed the preparation here. The pork belly is sliced thinner than you're typical piece of bacon, and the fat from the pork belly has been nicely rendered out so it doesn't coat your mouth with each bite. The onsen egg seemed like it would overwhelm the dish with its richness, but I found that it was a nice complement that went well with the rice underneath the pork belly. The spicy mustard bamboo shoots and the slivered onions helped balance out the richness as well. Last but not least, we had a Kyoho grape parfait for dessert. This was a refreshing way to round out the end of our meal. I loved the creativity of the pepper mascarpone anaglaise and also the texture provided by the almond cookie crumble. I cannot wait to stop by again to try out another one of Chef Asuka Uchida's pre-fixe menu.

At one point I remember looking up and being surprised that most of the tables were occupied. I ordered the eel bowl for $15.75. It was ready around 10 minutes later and looked good, but my first thought was that it was a smaller portion than I expected, especially for the eel, given the price. I had to portion out the eel to make sure it was enough to last for all the rice I had. It's a good thing I wasn't super hungry, as I'm not sure this would've been enough food otherwise to last me until dinner. But the most disappointing part to me was the avocado slices that came with the bowl. The avocado was the hardest I've ever had; I couldn't even chew it. I took one bite and immediately spit it out and didn't touch the rest. As someone who loves the combination of unagi + avocado, it was very disappointing to me that they couldn't find a riper avocado for my bowl.

Today I had the off chance of sitting next to a person who was conducting their business LOUDLY. I asked them to tone it down. While conducting business I was afraid of them sharing business secrets/proprietary information to all those in the place, and me. When someone is speaking loudly next to you, there is not much choice but to listen. They said it was a "you problem"; in other words I was out of line by requesting a quieter repartee. I approached the rude snarky woman behind the counter and was again told it was a "you problem". Mind you I conducted myself politely while ordering and picking up my food. I am familiar with cafe etiquette and no other place I have been has loud people conducting business to the angst of others trying to relax in a cafe space. Customer service? nyet!
