We tried the original and honey garlic boneless chicken, beef bulgogi bowl and chicken kimchi fried rice. Everything was really good and hot. The place is small and casual. Was it a mistake to order their spiciest wings on my first visit? Would the price I paid for the combo meal justify the quantity and my satisfaction with it? Do the patrons REALLY watch those music videos? Well, it's definitely all about the chicken here. That first bite of a boneless wing with the Spicy Galbi was indeed a taste-bud-awakener, but after that it was all flavor and the right level of crispness. I definitely wanted more. The fries were interesting. They were nicely crisp, and they were lightly covered with some kind of coating that was both subtly spicy and subtly sweet. They were certainly fine, but I'll explore other sides on future visits like the cole slaw and the pickled radishes. The price for a combo, $13.99 plus tax and tip extra... well ... since I'm really here for the chicken, maybe next time I'll just order a big batch of wings and do something else instead of (the starchy) sides. Those music videos... today they were all from a K-pop girl group known as aespa, evidently quite successful internationally. Clearly I am not their target audience. But as background music, it was pleasant enough. Since it's roughly 15 minutes from my house to here, ordering in advance seems like the way to go. It is indeed worth it for the chicken.

But because they also serve burgers, I think a comparison to Roy Rogers is more appropriate (minus the fixin's bar I really liked). (Side note: There are no more Roy Rogers in New York State, they're only in Mid-Atlantic states at this point). The restaurant is tiny, with about 5 booths and a few small tables, but when I came in for lunch, it was immaculate. My first meal here was a chicken combo, spicy, with cole slaw. I really like their chicken; their spicy chicken has exactly the right amount of heat and flavor that I want. It's also extra, extra, crispy. I feel sorry for those who have to clean up after anyone who eats in, because there will be lots of batter flakes all over the place. And there's no sporks, it's all plastic forks, knives, and spoons. And now, for the picky stuff: You get a slightly larger amount of cole slaw than at similar restaurants. But the chop is finer, and there's more mayonnaise, so for me, it was too mushy. I probably won't order it again, instead I'll check out other sides. The biscuit was fluffy and less salty than at other places, but it was slightly dry, probably having been under a heat lamp for a while. The combo includes a fountain drink, from a smaller, older-style Coke dispenser for which there are only 6 options, one of them being sweetened iced tea. Unsweetened ice tea was not available as far as I could tell, so if that's true, your only unsweetened option is water, out of the dispenser or bottled. I found it amusing to see, in big letters under the counter, "We cook fresh all day," with about 3 dozen pieces of chicken under heat lamps in the back. Just how often during the day do you cook fresh? The bathroom was clean, but the dispensers were out of soap and paper towels. This is not a good thing for a place serving fried chicken. And it was only about 75 minutes into the day when I was there, I would find it hard to believe it was all used up in 75 minutes. More likely, it was never restocked at the start of the business day. C'mon, you can do better. This is easy to fix. I'll definitely be back if only for the chicken, but I do intend to try the burgers and also the other sides. If those are as good as the chicken, and the beverage and bathroom stuff gets better, I'll add more stars to a revised review for sure.

Five stars for what I ordered today…read more First time at Popeyes, and I was not disappointed. The fast food restaurant was eat in or takeout. Several customers were enjoying lunch at one of the numerous tables at 12:15 on a Friday. Others were picking up orders. I was getting takeout. A two lane drive through is available, but I decided to go inside to order so I could ask questions. The restaurant was well ventilated and well lit including natural light pouring through the windows. It was spacious and looked well kept and clean. Ordered six Sweet and Spicy Wings and the Classic Chicken Sandwich, one of its offerings. Counter service was prompt and efficient. The drive through was busy when I left. WINGS The wings were hand breaded, cooked to a perfect crisp, and they were fall off the bone tender. They were served in a paper box which was nice. The wing sauce has a bite that I liked. Napkins were needed to wipe mouth since they were juicy. I was hungry and managed to eat them in my car with no spills on clothing. They also have spicy hot wings on the menu. Chicken Sandwich It was served in a foil lined bag which kept it warm until I drove home. And it was outstanding and far superior to the comparable sandwich at Chick-fil-A. The chicken piece was thicker, moister, and the coating was more flavorful! The brioche bun was nice. As described on menu--Classic Chicken Sandwich $5.99 "A juicy chicken breast fillet marinated in Popeyes seasonings, hand battered and breaded in our buttermilk system, fried until golden brown. Sandwiched between two buttery toasted brioche buns, topped with our barrel cured pickle slices and classic mayo." I want to bring the family to Popeyes and try other menu items. Forget the over rated crazy busy Chick-fil-A. The ample parking lot has several handicapped spaces. The exit leads to a traffic light for easy access to busy Loudon Road.

This Popeyes was almost like identical to the one in Troy, regarding staff and servers. I thought that the chicken was a little expensive considering costing about $41 after taxes. But then again the cost of everything is going up, I guess I just didn't expect it to be that much. I ordered eight piece, mild with four biscuits and large red beans and rice and an extra mashed potatoes. The chicken seemed fresh. I noticed that the chicken was greasier than usual, so much that the box was starting to come apart, I don't know whether it was from that or the heat. The red beans and rice was more rice and red beans and not like it used to be. The mashed potatoes and gravy had the gravy noticeably thinned out. What I inquired about the price , the man said yeah that's correct. I replied I guess I haven't been here in a while ordering this much, to what he replied, have a good day. I don't see Popeyes really being around in the near future as the brand, as it seems to be changing a lot more than I expected a brand change. It always starts with skipping on the basics or getting rid of the staff to replace them. I've had better and cheaper too.

I wanted to try a representative sampling of their food, so I ordered a chicken parmigiana wedge, a large cheese pizza, and a 2 liter bottle of diet Coke. Out of the three items, the best part of the meal was - the diet Coke. (If you've tried getting Cocla Cola products from Albany restaurants and are a Coke fan, you understand this.) The pizza was pleasant, but decidedly average. The crust was not crisp, though reheating should help with that, which I shall find out with the leftovers. There was more crust than I normally like relative to the cheese, but it wasn't overly unbalanced. It was just a little too much on the crust side. The wedge, in conrast, had so much sauce I could not taste the chciken at all, and had trouble even finding the chicken on the sandwich. When I did, the chicken had minimal flavor. a good chicken parmiagiana should actually let you taste chicken with crisp breading, not soggy breding hidden in enough sauce to cause digestive distress. And yes, I did expereince digestive distress. I might buy their pizza again, but Albany's a decent size city, and there's lots of competition. But I won't be trying the wedge for quite a whle.

Don't skip this place for pizza. It's one of the better upstate NY pizza places for sure. As pizza…read moresnob from NYC, I enjoyed the standard cheese pizza far more than I expected to. Also worth trying is the lamb over rice. Next time, I'd get it with extra sauce as it was a bit dry. However, I prefer this to Aria down the street - this doesn't have that flavor I dislike in the food from that other place that I've yet to figure out. I don't know if they have other options to add toppings, but maybe it's something to explore. It was just rice and lamb with a bit of green salad. Not other than advertised so no complaints there. The mozzerella sticks were good. Melba sauce was provided (as it should be everywhere in the universe). I'm torn on the eggplant parm dinner. It seemed like the eggplant rounds were cut up and mixed into the ziti or they were tender enough that they just disintegrated into the ziti. I'm certainly into having pasta with eggplant parm but also I want to control that ratio. This made it difficult to find and fork the eggplant amidst the ziti. It was also difficult to find eggplant pieces where the eggplant and breading were still unified. The eggplant was pretty good though. The calzone is not small. It was a bit light on ricotta compared to other calzones but there was no lack of cheese overall. It was more of a folded over white pizza than a calzone. That is, I expected it to be a puffy pocket but it was a flat semi circle with big slits on top. Not bad. Maybe I'd be in the mood for that style of calzone again in the future. I'd skip the buffalo chicken wrap next time. It was relatively dry, not spicy, and not as substantial as I was expecting. Beyond that, it had a grill flavor to it that was a bit out of place and interfered with the expected flavor. They seemed to put it on the grill to seal it closed in the middle but they keep the ends open so you have to hold the end closed while eating it to prevent bits from falling out. It was more of a somewhat buffalo flavored chicken roll-up than a buffalo chicken wrap. Surprisingly good fries. Also, great peanut butter pie. Note that the pepperoni is beef. It is very appreciated that it is clearly marked as beef so people can decide if that's a thing they want more or less than traditional pepperoni. Far too few other places think it's important to note this!
