Really fast service. No drive through. I've never had a mistake on an order, however this was my large fry...

A++ Arby's in Colonie near Albany, NY

Arby's in Albany's Colonie is fantastic! The staff welcomes diners. People all around - no matter how they look, or what they are celebrating, or order, either young or old - get along perfectly. It was an awesome Arby's dining experience. I even went out on a limb and ordered a new item I had never eaten: the French dip and a Coke. There was no wait time. This Arby's was spotless, parking was a breeze, staff the BEST! Delicious fast sandwich that actually looked like the picture. Review: 5

This is what their beef "gyro" looks like.

I hadn't visited this Arby's since my pre-Yelp days. It used to be my go-to spot for a quick meal along Wolf Road. That was because (a) I was an Entertainment Book junkie and they always had a lot of BOGO coupons, and (b) theoretically their roast beef was more of a known quantity than what wasn't always 100% beef in other chains' burgers. I've had a love/hate relationship with Arby's. I've never forgiven them for dropping regular fries (I get indigestion from their curly fries), but I've also appreciated their attempts to come out with new menu items. So replace "Entertainment Book" with "Clipper Magazine," and offer a discount for their new "gyros," and I decided it was time for a visit. The store is very clean and the staff are friendly and courteous. During lunch, they had one employee doing nothing but greeting people and cleaning. The only blemish I saw to the decor was a huge rip in the other seat of the booth at which I sat. They actually have a reasonably priced small fountain drink too. This new "gyro" is okay, if you understand that it's about as Greek as I am. It uses slices of their roast beef in a soft pita with some lettuce, 2 slices of tomato, 2 rings (as opposed to slices) of red onion, and some sauce. The turkey gyro is similar except they use slices of turkey and don't heat the slices. My bigger issue is with their side salad. For $2.19, you got maybe a cup of shredded lettuce, a half-dozen chunks of chopped tomato, and some shredded American cheese. I probably could have poured it all into the packet of salad dressing once I emptied that onto the salad. It barely half-filled the bowl. While it's a sturdy plastic bowl good for take-out, it would clearly be recyclable - apologies if I didn't see a recycle bin, but it seems a waste to throw these into the trash. I wish they could do better. My "word salad" here is bigger than the side salad I got. I'm not surprised that it was very busy here for lunch. A meal here is still cheaper than what you can get at the gourmet burger places, and it's still just as good.

I visit this Arby's (no drive-thru) because it's not in the mall. Other people have the same idea too! When there's a long line (lunch hours or weekends) almost to the front entrance, it may take a while to place your order and get your food. Once at the counter, I usually get a Regular Roast Beef Sandwich (with Horsey Sauce) or a Beef 'n Cheddar Sandwich, Potato Cakes, a large Jamocha Shake, and a Cherry Turnover for the road. The sandwiches are on the salty side and the shake complements the meal. THIS LOCATION IS NOW OPEN ON SUNDAYS!

Try the Beef Brisket BBQ, Loaded Curly Fries, and a Creamsicle Shake. It's worth the slow service to try when you feel you need comfort!

Hard to find a place that makes a good Ruben or hot tuna sandwich but this is the place to go forsure! Call and order for pickup or dine in and get great service from the staff! It was good to know the turkey is roasted "in house." I took half home. In my opinion, the prices are not only fair but on the low side for the quality of food served. My sandwich was only $9.99 with chips and a pickle spear. Side salads are inexpensive and delicious I hear. The two sided laminated menu was easy to navigate. Specials of the day are posted at the entrance. Service was prompt and friendly. The charming cafe is located at the end of a strip of businesses off Rt. 7 near the Galleria 7 Food Court. There are many tables and a full bar in a well lit inside seating area. In addition, there is a great patio with nice planters on one side. Lots of parking. Easy access for wheelchairs and walkers. Looking forward to returning for a Panini, or soup, or salad, or breakfast sandwich. I will check out the catering menu to use in future. We went the first time because it was one of those days, and our non-vegetarian kid was desperate to eat and we were in the neighborhood. So while he chowed down on the pork sandwich platter (which was, he reported, excellent, and I can tell you the aroma made my mouth water), we split one of each non-meat side available. Chips, Potato Salad, Mac and Cheese, the Japanese eggplant, and the Kimchi Coleslaw. (I think we passed on the beans because they had pork in them.) They were FABULOUS! I mean, I've had plenty of BBQ sides in my time, back when we were carnivores, and I've tried them all. I can think of maybe two or three others that were the equals here, but for a limited run of options, it was non-pareil. It kind of makes me wish they'd put their minds to a veggie sandwich, the name of the place notwithstanding. They do the maillard reaction proud. One tiny tip for the owners: "Reuben" is misspelled on your menu.
