Average fast food chicken. The sandwich is bland and I don't understand why people like the waffle fries.

I wish I could give this five extra stars…read more The food was hands-down amazing. Those biscuits or something to write home about, and the fried chicken was perfection! The staff are the friendliest I've ever seen. Everyone literally looks delighted to be at their job jobs.

Sometimes the most frustrating restaurant experiences aren't the terrible ones…read more They're the ones that are so close to being really good. That's how I felt about Mama's Chicken Kitchen. I came in with high expectations. The restaurant has strong reviews, it's part of the Johnson Family of restaurants, and I've enjoyed several of their other establishments over the years. So I walked in expecting a meal that would have me planning a return visit before I even paid the check. What I got instead was one of the strangest cases of missing seasoning I've encountered in quite some time. Let's start with the positives. The people here are genuinely nice. Friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Everyone we encountered was pleasant and seemed to care about providing a good experience. The restaurant itself is clean, comfortable, and inviting. And the kitchen clearly knows how to cook food. The fried chicken was cooked beautifully. Crispy on the outside. Juicy on the inside. Exactly the texture you're hoping for when you order Southern fried chicken. The problem? The seasoning apparently called in sick. This chicken had all the flavor intensity of a weather report. No noticeable salt. No spice. No personality. It tasted like the chef had just completed community service at a nursing home and was legally prohibited from possessing a salt shaker. My piece of chicken was juicy and cooked properly. Unfortunately, my wife's chicken breast was noticeably dry, which didn't help matters. Then came the fried pickles. No seasoning. Chicken and dumplings. No seasoning. Coleslaw. Tasteless. At one point I started wondering if there had been some sort of building-wide seasoning shortage that nobody had told us about. The frustrating part is that none of the food was poorly cooked. Quite the opposite. The techniques were there. The textures were there. The execution was there. It just felt like someone got everything ready and forgot the final, critical step of making the food taste like something. This is a restaurant with good people, a pleasant atmosphere, and a kitchen that clearly knows how to cook. Now they just need to introduce their food to salt, pepper, and a few of their seasoning friends. Three stars. Because the potential is absolutely there. The flavor just never showed up for work.

Part of the dining area. There is many more tables not in view and there is a screened-in seating area as well.

4:59PM I placed an on-line order using the KFC app. That order was not filled until 5:41PM…read more I went inside right after placing the order. On two occasions I've had to wait on staff to give me my order that I've observed sitting on a back counter for a period of time. I had to ask both times if that was my order. I didn't want to go thru that hassle again tonight so I went right in. I observed minimal staffing and two trainees. Despite my order being submitted at 4:59, I watched numerous drive thru customers get their orders filled while mine was given lower priority. One employee kept running past me to carry out orders to waiting vehicles saying they were short staffed but doing the best they could. I asked who appeared to be a shift manager who gets priority and she told me the drive thru orders. The whole time I stood at the counter watching this, customers were coming in and placing their own orders (which were also filled before mine). I understand employees not showing up for work and being short staffed. I also think the manager should then adjust work flow that staffing can accommodate instead of making those with on-line orders wait an hour. One customer was a DoorDash deliverer who also had to wait alongside me while drive thru customers were served. I had to demand to speak to someone about how long my order was taking and the prioritization of drive thru customers. Once that happened my order was finally filled but then I was informed they had no biscuits left for my order. To top it off, when I finally got home, my potatoes lacked gravy and the chicken tenders were dried out from sitting too long in the warming oven. It seems to me that management should have made adjustments due to the short staffing. As a minimum, a sign should have be posted to prevent walk ins. I also don't understand prioritization of drive thru customers. I shouldn't have to stand for nearly an hour at the counter watching numerous cars go thru the drive thru getting their orders filled.

So I went in on Wednesday 10/1 around 6:30 pm. There were about 3 parties ahead of me, and…read moretruthfully they were all pretty rude, but the girl behind the counter handled them with patience and respect, and she acted like a total professional. I wish I had gotten her name, but I've seen her there a few times and she's always done a great job. One of the other parties complained about some of the food and he was yelling at her to the point where I almost said something, but she handled it perfectly, and by the end of it he was laughing and joking with her. She handled the rush great, she handled everyone's bad attitudes really well, and she greeted every customer with a smile whether she was bringing out food, cleaning the lobby, or mopping the floor. She never got flustered, her confidence never wavered, and I was genuinely impressed. I've worked in food service for many years, and I know how thankless of a job it is, and how customers often teach you like you're less than human. Truthfully though I'm giving this 4 stars and not 5 because the food was honestly not the freshest. Normally I just wouldn't leave a review, but that girl's customer service genuinely impressed me and couldn't go unnoticed, so whoever you are, thank you for making me feel welcomed every time I go in there, and whoever is paying her, needs to find a way to pay her more if you want to keep her because a lot of other places would love to have her. Thank you again and I will definitely be back!

She was aware of our time constraints as we were headed to the playhouse for a performance. She was very attentive and took great care of us. The food was amazing and very pleasantly presented. 10/10 -- If I could give more, I would!…read more Service, food, and atmosphere, absolutely top tier. Don't think twice... BOOK that reservation!!!!! I highly recommend this place. Kyle, our server, and Joe, the general manager, went completely above and beyond!!!! We started with the Caesar salad -- super crisp lettuce, a generous portion perfect for sharing for two, and it came with a crunchy baguette topped with a smoked trout cream cheese-style spread. Such a unique and delicious touch! We also tried the trout fingers from the kids' menu since we'd only had trout once before, and they were good. For entrées, I had the barbecue lion's mane mushroom with slaw, potatoes, and asparagus and wow, don't let my picture fool you, it was absolutely delicious! My husband ordered the elk with grits, asparagus, and a rich demi-glace... and it was FANTASTIC. We almost never order dessert, but I'm so glad we did! The pecan pie (with a whipped cream cheese topping) was incredible -- not overly sweet like traditional versions, but perfectly layered and full of flavor. We loveddddd this place. Can't wait to come back!

They literally have every fast food and chain dining experience on one block, but I didn't know that at the time but I'm tired of road trip Food so wanted to sit down for a good meal! Pulling into the parking lot and I was overwhelmed because it was huge and very crowded! We go to the desk and they tell us 25 minutes. This place was huge and very accommodating, they were getting people to their tables fast! We noticed two empty seats at the bar, so we opted to take them and had the pleasure of being served by Robert. He was attentive, made sure our waters were always full. He gave recommendations on his favorite dishes and was all around a great bartender! The guy working the other end of the bar was equally as professional. The ambience is a dark cool vibe, little trendy but people were dressed pretty casually! Answer the most important thing...The food! For an app, we got the beer, cheese fondue that came with apples, bread and pretzels. The beer cheese had a little bit of ooomph to it, which was refreshing because usually I'm not a big mustard person. The pretzel bites were incredible crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The apples were fresh all around the appetizer for 3 to 4 people so we took extra home. I ordered the 10 ounce sirloin cooked, medium with the web sweet potatoes and a side Caesar salad for a three dollar charge which ended up being a full-size salad! It was super fresh and gigantic for a side salad. The steak was cooked perfectly, in the middle with an insane sear. Their house, butter that they put on it truly elevated the flavor profile. I tried the sweet potatoes mashed and they were enjoyable, but I do not enjoy a sweet side with my food so I knew I was going to donate them to my husband and he said they were incredible, the flavor was definitely there just not my cup of tea, but I knew that from the beginning . He got the Caesar salad with grilled chicken! It had so much flavor and tastes incredible but yet melted in your mouth it was the most tender chicken I've ever had in my life, and the flavor was all there! Not even the slightest bit of any kind of dryness. One of the best bites of chicken I've ever had.! He ordered the bison meatloaf to go, and that comes with caramelized mashed potatoes and fried onion straws.... It smells incredible and I will update when we try it . Based on the quality/ experience on a very busy night- everything was phenomenal and I will return. Service 10/5 Food 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Value 5/5
