First, let's address the only downside: my burger was slightly overcooked. The server was very kind and attentive, but by the time she came back around to check on us, it felt a little late to send it back. I decided to remove the meat and enjoy the rest of the burger -- and surprisingly, it was still very good. My only hope for next time is that everything comes out cooked exactly as intended. Now for the positives -- because there are plenty. The wait time was excellent. We didn't have to wait for a table, and the food came out in a timely manner. That level of efficiency definitely adds to the overall experience. This restaurant is clearly operating at a high level. The location is great, the atmosphere is welcoming, and everything feels well-managed. You can tell there's pride behind what they're doing. We ordered The Goat Burger with Crispy Buttered Taters and started with the Fried Deviled Eggs. The fried deviled eggs were a standout. They had a salty base with a slight kick of heat, and the pickled onions brought in a sweet, tangy balance that elevated the dish. The salty-sweet combination worked beautifully together. A strong appetizer choice. As for The Goat Burger -- aside from being slightly overcooked -- the flavor was impressive. The patty was well seasoned, and the fried goat cheese paired with bacon created a rich, savory profile that complemented the crispy buttered taters perfectly. Everything worked cohesively on the plate. Even after removing the meat, the toppings and structure still delivered strong flavor. The food was absolutely worth the money. I left feeling full and satisfied without feeling overly heavy, which is always a plus. This is a place I will go back to again and again. I would confidently recommend it to others -- great location, good food, good people, and solid service. They also offer wine and beer for those who want to enjoy a drink with their meal. Overall, a very strong experience. I'm looking forward to coming back -- and next time, I'm hoping everything comes out cooked perfectly.

The layout of the restaurant is very homey with the Green velvet love seat by the door in the waiting area. It seems very casual with mostly family's and a few couples at the bar. When we arrived there was a short wait so we walked out to admire the Jackson County Courthouse on the hill across the street. After our brief walk our table was ready. We had my wife, son 2 daughters and the oldest one's boyfriend who goes to WCU. We started with the fried deviled egg and cheesy prosciutto croquettes for an appetizer. Big fan of the tomato jam and croquettes so much that I saved the remaining portion for my Gouda grits. They have a wide variety on the menu so everyone found a meal they would enjoy. My wife got the motherclucker chicken sammich with a salad, my youngest daughter got pasta Alfredo, my son got the Rueben, I ordered the fish tacos with Gouda grits and Karlea and Tristan got a basic burger and fries. Other than being messy, my fish tacos were tasty with the slaw and blueberry composite. My wife liked her chicken sammich even though it was at the edge of her threshold for spicy. Brody enjoyed his Rueben but the seasoned veggies were a bit bland. Forager seems like a Sylva staple that will stay on my shortlist. Cheers!

South of Philly - Classic Philly with seasoned fries

When we first walked in, the first thing I noticed was that it wasn't very crowded. Sometimes that can be a red flag--but in this case, it turned out to be a hidden advantage. The food came out fast, fresh, and piping hot. From the first bite, I knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere has more of an old-school, no-frills vibe. It's not flashy or over-the-top, which actually made the experience better. I walked in with neutral expectations--not expecting anything extraordinary, but not expecting anything bad either. What I got completely exceeded that middle-ground mindset. Their menu offers a wide variety of options, but I went with something classic and comforting: a Philly cheesesteak (no mushrooms), upgraded with Cheese Whiz, along with sweet chili chicken wings and a side of onion rings. Let's start with the wings. The sweet chili sauce was perfectly balanced--just the right touch of heat paired with a subtle sweetness. Even fully sauced, the wings maintained their crispiness, which is not easy to do. If I had to critique anything, I'd say the blue cheese could be upgraded--but that's a minor note in what was otherwise a near-perfect execution. The Philly cheesesteak was equally impressive. The bread was soft yet sturdy, packed generously with meat, cheese, and vegetables from edge to edge. Every bite was balanced and satisfying. The onion rings were exactly how I like them--thin, crispy, well-seasoned, and fried to a perfect golden crunch. Everything from the food to the drinks, the atmosphere, and the customer service was on point. The only thing I passed on was dessert. The cookies didn't look as fresh as I would've liked, so I decided to skip it this time. That said, it didn't take away from an otherwise top-tier experience. Whether you're looking for a dine-in lunch, dinner, takeout, or delivery, South of Philly absolutely delivers. I genuinely don't think this place gets the attention it deserves. It's a hidden gem, and I will definitely be back to explore more of the menu. If the staff has recommendations next time, I'm all in--I'll be there to try them. Highly recommended.

Sonic has certainly fallen from the heights it once enjoyed. I hadn't been to a Sonic in a very…read morelong time, but while talking with my friend, they mentioned a drink called the Lemon Cream Cooler, which I'd never heard of. Intrigued, we decided to stop by and give it a try. I'll say this upfront: I wouldn't go to Sonic again for the food. The quality has seriously declined, the portion sizes are underwhelming, and overall, the experience was far from enjoyable. I ordered the Cheesy Bacon Supersonic Combo with tater tots and a large Cherry Lemonade. To Sonic's credit, the drinks remain its strongest point--they've never disappointed me, and this visit was no exception. My Cherry Lemonade was refreshing and flavorful, as expected. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The biggest issue I have with Sonic's food is that most of it desperately needs more seasoning. The flavors are bland and uninspired, leaving little to enjoy. On top of that, if you're going to call a burger the Cheesy Bacon Supersonic, it should live up to the name. This sandwich fell short in every way. The bacon was incredibly thin, barely tasted like bacon, and lacked the crispy, thick-cut quality you'd expect. The cheese was another letdown--the amount was minimal, and their cheese selection felt uninspired and unimpressive. Sonic's food today lacks the flavor, creativity, and quality that once made it special. If you're craving a great burger, look elsewhere. If you want an amazing chili cheese hot dog, you're better off making it at home or finding another spot. Sonic's food has lost the magic it used to have. This particular location was clean on the outside, which was nice, but most Sonic locations I've seen are not well-maintained. Even though there weren't many customers, it took a surprisingly long time to prepare our single meal. Unless I'm stopping by for a drink, I won't be returning to Sonic anytime soon. While the drinks are consistently good, the food is simply not worth the trip. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone--grab a drink if you're thirsty, but find somewhere else for your meal. Here's hoping Sonic can make a full turnaround and reclaim its former glory.
