We stopped in on the recommendation of a local shop owner while we were visiting Bryson City, and I'm so glad we did. Being from the Tampa area, we're pretty picky about Cuban sandwiches. They're a staple back home, so our expectations were high. The owner happened to be there and confidently recommended the Cuban, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. There was a short wait while it was made fresh, but it was well worth it. The sandwich was perfectly balanced, flavorful, and honestly tasted like a little piece of home. We packed it up and enjoyed it before heading out for an afternoon of tubing, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. The shop itself is charming, clean, and has a welcoming atmosphere where you can sit down and enjoy your meal. We didn't try the sweets this time, but they looked delicious and give us another reason to come back. Meeting the owner made the experience even better. He was friendly, welcoming, and clearly takes pride in what he serves. Whether you're a fellow Floridian missing a great Cuban or you've never had one before, do yourself a favor and stop by High Test Deli & Sweet Shop. It's absolutely worth it. This is an easy 5-star recommendation, and we'll be back the next time we're in Bryson City.

It's not always easy to find a place that delivers good food, good service, and good value, but High Test Deli did all three. We would definitely stop by again the next time we're in the area.

For a busy coffee house? 10 minutes from order is the norm for a place with its act together. 15 minutes? Newbie time. 25 minutes? Def ownership understaffing. 32 minutes, from order? With success comes a certain level of complacency. Even arrogance. $30, for your t-shirt? Baker, please. This has been a destination spot, for tourists. Competition, with the level around them, should provide incentive to get their act together. Kind of sad.

Everett Street Diner is our most favorite place for breakfast - hands down. Hubby and I have tried many items, none have disappointed. Fresh, hot, correctly cooked, presentation, service, hospitality, coffee, atmosphere, and prices - all are spot on fabulous. The owner - Mr Everett Street Diner ALWAYS greets everyone with a smile and friendly conversation. Family oriented, he welcomes you in, sits you down and makes you feel like you're in his kitchen. If (more like when) you wait for your table, it's never long. The staff bust their butts and don't make you feel rushed at all. This morning we/the restaurant celebrated, as an entire group, the expected January arrival of a little girl, and three birthdays!!! And yes, we ALL sang happy birthday. Well, except for Mr Everett, apparently he doesn't sing and will tell ya so!! Seriously though, if you're looking for a good meal, friendly service, and a place you can't wait to come back to ..... try Everett Street Diner!! Oh, and if you're looking for a little heat and spice? You've GOTTA try their spicy diner relish!!! We're on our 4th jar and have gifted 3 jars out to friends, family and a great barkeeper in San Antonio (but that's a different story)! Love you all at Everett Street Diner!!!

Husband got the Orange Creamsicle which tasted very much like a Sunkist in the best way. We saw another table get a flight which could have been fun too. It was an odd time of day, not lunch or dinner so we ordered some things to share: buffalo chicken flatbread was the clear winner. Perfect level of heat, not oily or too cheesy like you'll sometimes get, and the flatbread was so good: crunchy on the bottom and a good chew. Wedge salad was also very good. Fried pickles were okay, we both agreed if the slices were thinner the chips would have had better crunch. Service was very attentive and our waiter offered recommendations. Only minor quibbles kept this from 5 stars: when we got our food the waiter asked if we needed anything else and offered ranch for the pickles, we accepted, but then on the bill there was a 75 cent charge for the ranch, not a big deal but annoying since he offered it. And other things seemed to have pretty high prices too, even for a tourist town. For example: I can't bring myself to pay $18 for a pretzel.

The buffalo chicken flatbread was OK. I did like the crust. There was very little chicken on it and for $15, they could have used a bit more. Reading the past reviews, there seems to be regular issues with people sharing, even if they're ordering the same amount of entrées as people. While we weren't charged like other people, we had an odd experience with getting plates to share entrees. When we were served our lunch, we asked for two plates so we could share. We were first offered two tiny ones, like the size of a saucer that would go under a coffee cup. we asked for larger ones so we could split the entrées and eat on our separate plates but was only brought one. We gave up then but it was strange like no one's ever wanted to share food before? All in all it was fine. We sat at outside table which was nice and it's in a good location, right downtown.
