We stopped in for the first time in the midafternoon. I like that they offer half caf in their espressos so that I'm not wired all evening. The coconut cake was a generous slice even for 2 and really flavorful. We decided to go back the next morning and there was already a line forming 10 min before opening on a Sunday. The food was worth the wait! The cinnamon roll was the right mix of buttery, cinnamon-y, and creamy. The crust on the quiche was very flaky. The breakfast sandwich on a croissant was also a hit. The mixed coffee drinks were good, and the marshmallows in the hot chocolate were a hit with my daughter. Absolutely phenomenal coffee shop in downtown Bryson City. The service is amazing. Super friendly staff. And the coffee shop is pretty cool considering it is attached to a great little store full of toys, books and even a little book covered in chalkboard paint for the kiddos to play in. But even better was the food and coffee. We ordered a couple of lattes that were perfect. The buttery croissant is the size of your head, and somehow becomes even better when filled with bacon, egg and cheese. Hey everyone! I just have to share my delightful experience at Bryson Bakery this morning while I was enjoying my stay in this charming town. I hadn't really found a great breakfast spot yet, but I heard so many wonderful things about this place that my wife and I decided to check it out. As soon as we stepped inside, it felt like we were in a cozy Hallmark movie--it was like stepping into another era, and it was absolutely wonderful! Now, let me tell you about the food, which was truly the star of the show. We were in for a treat! We kicked things off with their brunchable breakfast sandwich, which was just scrumptious, and then we had the bear claw sandwich. After that, we couldn't resist trying a cinnamon sugar-coated donut, and of course, we had to go for the hometown favorite, the morning bun. I really have been holding this review for a week because I really didn't want to let the secret out more than it already was. This is based on two back to back services. The first day I went I checked it out because I saw a lady eating a giant croissant, and I asked her where she got it. So when I went in, it was busy with people at least 10 people in front of me at 1 pm . Attached to the bakery is a little mercantile shop. I got the strawberry croissant, the French silk pie, the peach cobbler and the blueberry lemon stuffed croissant the first day. I also got a black eye iced coffee with white mocha. Out of all of them, the French silk pie, which was gluten-free took the cake for me. The lemon blueberry was a little too sweet for me, but it was still really good. The peach cobbler was as expected, but I really enjoyed the crumble on top the strawberry croissant. Ott was very light and airy. And of course, the coffee was on point. The service was amazing. The guy that was checking me out was super helpful. We did not know anything about this place and he answered all the questions. Regardless, how busy it was they had top-notch customer service. It may have been a little slow points, but they never stopped helping and working. Now for the second day, it was even a longer line at 11 in the morning. This time I got a plain croissant, which was very flaky and airy. I got another strawberry croissant a peach cruffin which had like a peach jam inside with a whipped cream with a like cinnamon coating on the outside, and it was really good and I got a piece of the gluten-free poppyseed loaf. The poppyseed in the French silk pie, were my top two favorite. Now when I ordered my coffee, it was supposed to be ice, but I got hot so I just asked for a cup of ice and they were super nice about giving it to me. I would go to the bakery every day if I lived in Bryson city. As far as the Mercantile, it has so many little things it has HomeGoods. It has shoes that has clothes that has toys and has all kinds of things inside for you to shop and to look at for you and the kids. Inside of the bakery, there is a little seating area and there's usually always somewhere to sit even with a small seating selection. Now the hours are weird and I think that's why it's so busy they at the bakery are closed three days a week. And they are open 8 to 3. Now the mercantile is open all week and it is open a little bit longer. This is definitely a place you want to try. I promise this is going to be your most favorite stop. read more

Our favorite morning stop in Bryson City! The baked goods, coffee and friendly staff are second to none. This trip we tried the breakfast casserole, scone sausage and cheese sandwich and the peaches and cream cruffin. Every adjective for delicious comes to mind! We made a special trip to Bryson City to visit the Bryson Bakery and we're so glad we did! What a wonderful and charming place! The staff was so friendly and welcoming, and I could have adopted the lady who made my black-eyed coffee order as my baby sister. We found out that the owner was actually in the back doing the baking. The rolls are HUGE and delicious! And let me tell you, the black eyed coffee packs a punch! This is definitely a place for to go boxes and plenty of napkins. There are places for the kids to play, and for you and your friends to sit and relax and enjoy a "cuppa" or two. A great little treat was the Grape Nehi soda I had while I was waiting for my coffee order. What a wonderful place. read more

The raspberry cream cheese danish was excellent! Every bite was delicious unlike so very many pastries where the dough not covered in the fruit or cheese is dry and not worth eating. Every morsel of the pastry was scrumptious. Service was good. it would be nice if they had a price list for baked goods as they do for beverages. Y'all. This place is the real deal. We walked past Bryson Bakery & Market a few times on our first day in the city, but didn't go inside. I was thrown off by the windows advertising shoes, etc, and (quite wrongly) assumed that a place that sold toys and footwear would not offer delicious baked goods. However, my husband was eager to check it out so we went there for breakfast on our second day of vacation. We loved it so much, we also went there for the next (and last) day of our trip!! I like that they had a selection of both sweet and savory items. I need protein in the morning, and they serve quiche, a focaccia breakfast sandwich, a ham and cheese pastry, and a breakfast casserole.over the course of a couple of days we tried all of those and they were all delicious--the focaccia sandwich was probably my favorite, though. It looks really bready, but the bread is so soft that it ends up being the perfect ratio to the fillings. They also have multiple vegetarian savory options. The coffee was also quite good. I especially liked the mocha latte and lavender latte--neither were too sweet. My favorite part of the bakery, though, were the sweet pastries!! My lord, are they good!!! My favorite of the bunch that we sampled were the pillowy cinnamon rolls. Oof!! You know how most cinnamon rolls rely on the center bite? These were delicious from start to finish. I really enjoyed the cream cheese frosting, but I did notice that a few people requested their buns sans frosting and were able to be accommodated no problem. A few side notes: Everyone who worked here was so friendly and kind. Work is work, but it still felt like they enjoyed being there and appreciated their customers as much as we appreciated them. Additionally, the shop owners have set up a small, indoor play area for youngsters and I saw lots of kids delight in the toys which were set out for them--a train set, play kitchen, and chalk drawing room. There's also a store attached to the other side of the market that sells a ton of fun toys for kids, pets, and people. The whole experience was a true delight, and I look forward to returning on our next trip to Bryson City. read more

This bakery rivals any that I've visited in the U.S. and Europe! Top notch pastries and delicious coffee - truly 10/10!! Highly recommend the sticky bun and the chocolate chip cookie (my standards are really high for these!) The line may be long on a weekend morning but it goes pretty fast. Do not walk by this combo bakery/coffee/store !! The bakery items are the best quality you will find, in all of western NC. The breakfast sandwich on fresh focaccia is the absolute best tasting breakfast sandwich I have ever eaten. Don't even think about not trying all the other options either, I mean the quiche is to die for and that lil round breakfast cruffin is delectable too ! Whatever u do , don't try the chocolate chip cookies I get real upset when they run out of those !! Sandra D's is a small cafe inside this new market that just opened a few months ago. The market is your typical tourist thing, with lots of random knickknacks that really don't make any sense.... But I digress. The staff at Sandra D's is always super friendly and the pastries are legit!! The morning bun and almond croissant are my go-to's! BUT BEWARE, they do not serve their pastries mid-week. The only reason I'm knocking off 1 star, is that their coffee isn't that great. They have a medium and a dark roast blend that has been developed for them by an NC roaster. But to be honest, both blends are a little bitter and over-roasted. They should really retool their medium roast to be a bit more balanced, so they can satisfy the customers that like lighter roast coffee (like myself) and also those that like their coffee roast darker. read more

The food and coffee here is amazing! My family and I came back here multiple times and tried different things, everything was so delicious we even thought about taking some to go for our ride home. As a Pacific NW native, there is one thing I can confidently say I know well, and that is a quality coffee shop. Sipping coffee and eating pastries is a way of life where I'm from. We literally had 4-5 incredible coffee shops per square mile, where I lived. I grew up around family drinking coffee strong enough to put hair on your knuckles, frequented the Pike Place Market (and the original Starbucks) on countless trips visiting family in Seattle, and crazy enough...a dear friend and neighbor of mine was the sister-in-law of the founder of Stumptown. I LOVE COFFE. It's in my blood. All that being said, since moving to the South 3 years ago, I have made it a point to try different coffee shops, wherever I go, to see if anyone can compare to the wonder that is the PNW coffee scene. It's the #1 thing I miss from home, ans it has been a challenge to find anything that compares. But y'all....Y'ALL.....I can honestly say without a doubt that Bryson City Bakery is it for me. It looked like a trendy, cute place for my family to grab breakfast and coffee on a recent trip. But Lord have mercy....hallelujah.....when I tasted their pastries and cold brew, I was immediately transported home!!! The pastries we had were all warm, buttery, flaky and fluffy. all were absolutely perfectly sweetened and baked. And the the cold brew to blackberry- lavender flavor ratio was flawless. I FINALLY found the coffee shop of my dreams after a 3 year search. Sadly we were unable to get anything from the bakery but the MRKT was one of the coolest stores we have ever been in!! There was something for everyone! We purchased some sunglasses for our baby and accidentally only got the box. We didn't realize it until we made it all the way back home.
