Ok HELLO?? The aesthetic is so zen and charming inside!! I swear Taiwanese tea shops are so calming and peaceful. And the place is so fragrant with the natural aroma of tea. While we were waiting for our drinks we sat at this really cute window nook and just took in the peacefulness. The server was very helpful with tea selections and knew which teas paired with what flavours. I got the non caffeinated tea (picture) with honey, no sugar, with grassy, and no ice. My wife had a mango tea with foam. Our drinks were perfect. I love that it was zero fuss. Surprisingly not very busy but we did just have a killer snowstorm. Tip: Get the high mountain pouchong tea with lemon juice and konjac. It's delicious! After having a not-so-stellar Yelp experience at Ramin Isshin, I left the eatery with fellow Yelper friend, Jason. I felt like getting a drink. I noticed this Chicha San Chen and wanted to check it out. Jason joined me to work off some of the ramen that he had devoured. I've been to the Chicha San Chen at CF Markville. This store is at least twice as big as that location. There were plenty of places to sit down and enjoy your tea. I had a couple of fruity sparkling drinks at the CF Markville place. I was going to ask the man behind the counter if he had them. Instead, he said that he'd be back and I could look at the menu. It was delivered in a not-now-I'm-busy tone. It was odd. It's the only reason why this place doesn't get five stars. I'm so glad that Jason was with me. He said that the woman at CF Markville suggested that he get the high mountain pouchong tea with lemon juice and konjac. I decided to go with this drink. I got this drink with less sugar and less ice. I paid with my debit card on my phone. I tapped and was done. It didn't take much time for this drink to be made. It was nice chatting up a storm with Jason as we waited. The moment of truth was here. My drink was ready. I took a sip. It was awesome! The foam tasted like lemon meringue. The tea was perfect with the lemon juice. The konjac was chewy. I haven't had konjac since I visited Song Tea eons ago (rest in bubble tea peace). I wish that this drink came in a larger size. I drank it too fast... haha! I had a great experience with my friend's recommendation. I like that there's lot of parking in this plaza. I'd return again for more good bubble tea. I have been to this CHICHA San Chen twice, and each time, it was a pleasant visit. The staff are so friendly and always offered us samples, and they were always very tasty! Since I don't drink anything with caffeine, the staff recommended us to two drinks on the menu that were caffeine-free; really appreciate that ^^ I really enjoyed the Bubble Volcano (with oat milk) and Taro Party (loved the chewy taro balls!) Shoutout to the gentleman who helped me during my 2nd visit. He was very friendly, had exceptional customer service, spoke English clearly and professionally, and literally went above and beyond to make our visit a memorable one. I've tried this brand before at Markville mall, but this location is so much better. The service is a lot quicker here and I didn't need to wait too long for my tea. We also were given a free sample of their mango iced tea and that was amazing! After I had ordered my tea, I went around to take photos of the place and by the time I took all my photos, my tea was ready for me! Amazingly quick in comparison to the mall location, which can be as short as a 15min wait. read more

There's a reason Chicha San Chen has been awarded the top 3-star award by the International Taste Institute for its tea. If you're someone who loves high quality tea with a modern vibe, you have to give this place a try. I'm not a huge bubble tea fan typically, as I find most places focus more on unique flavour combos & toppings. But this spot really allows you to enjoy tea in a modern way - whether you're a classic milk bbt fan or you prefer a light fruit/milk addition to bring out the tea flavour. Good quality bubble tea but not sure if it's worth the price. This is the only chicha san Chen location I've tried and had the opportunity to check it out before heading to the mall (just situated outside in the plazas). It was late in the day so I ordered the bubble volcano as it's one of the few options that were caffeine free. I was happy to know that they had an oat milk option as well to sub. Overall the tapioca had a nice chew with a few slightly too soft for my liking. The oat milk was frothed well and the drink was the right amount of sweetness. I'm just not sure it's worth $10. Came here with a bunch of friends and thankfully, the place wasn't as busy. I remember hearing about how long the wait was at their first location. We were eating around the area so it's great that this location was nearby. The inside was bright and had cute decorations, not much seating with tables but there are seats for waiting. They had a good selection of tea and can be customizable depending on what you feel like. You can also smell their tea so it gives you an idea of what the base would be like. I ended up getting the Dong Ding Oolong which was one of the favourites. It had a good tea flavour even with light sugar. Unfortunately, the drinks are not as customizable for the favourites which I'm a bit surprised (I was thinking of being able to choose the tea base but getting the toppings for them). The tea is made fresh so there will be a wait especially if they're busy but have enjoyed the drinks. read more

Went with the honey osmanthus oolong tea and it came nicely packaged with a drink holder. Very refreshing! A very innovative bubble tea spot. What sets them apart from the rest is their teaspresso machine that extracts and brews the loose-leaf tea fresh per order. Beautiful and delicious! I walked into this place and it felt like I was walking into a spa. The decor is so pretty and airy and bright! It also smelled of jasmine tea inside which I thought was really nice compared to the sweet, brown sugary smell you usually get in bubble tea spots. We were greeted by a gentleman who helped to guide us to a perfect drink, he asked us about what drinks we typically like and made recommendations for drinks as well as toppings. He recommended the honey osmanthus drink with konjac jelly. The price is fairly steep but it's kind of an experience, watching the tea fall from those fancy machines and watching them make the drinks was really interesting. My drink was so good, I asked for less sugar and less ice and I found it to be just a tiny bit sweet so next time I'd go even less sugar, but the osmanthus flavour was soo nice and light. The konjac jelly was also such a cool texture with a very mild sweet flavour, it was kind of like a firmer grass jelly, I loved it! Price was around $9 all in which is definitely on the steeper end of bubble tea but it was a cool experience and I really enjoyed my drink so i'd definitely go back! read more

I was visiting my friend for a weekend and she took me to this place after dinner. Instead of having dessert, she wanted to introduce me to a new place that specialized in teas. I have read about this place (downtown location), but have not been there yet. I was excited that I would finally be able to try their tea with my friend! The decor was modern yet calming, neutral colours and foliage added to the vibe. The staff were friendly and welcoming. A young lady at the counter explained the options for teas (types available, customization options) and provided her recommendations at our request. My friend ordered Black tea with jelly and I picked Green tea with tapioca. After placing our order, we were informed that it would take fifteen minutes (as they were freshly making the tapioca balls). Therefore, we went outside and took a stroll outside while catching up. When we returned, our teas were ready. We wanted to enjoy the relaxing vibe, so we sat down on one of the chairs and drank our teas while chatting. New location just opened up, it's bright, spacious and has a long bench inside with two tables. Cashier was extremely kind and we got to try the mango osmanthus tea which we really liked so we bought after. I got the taro queen and compared to the Spadina location, this one is a lot better. The taro balls are a good chewy and the tea has a good flavour. The osmanthus tea with mango has a nice sweet mango flavour to it as well. Service was great and overall satisfied with my experience. read more
