PLEASE BELIEVE THE RECENT REVIEWS!! DO NOT BE DECEIVED!!
I stayed at the Chicago South Loop Hotel in July 2026.
Room #1:
1) Room 1: Smelled like cigarettes and weed.
2) Bottles of Shampoo/Conditioners not in containers (on the wall) and the tops were not on it.
2) Two Large Towels provided
3) Hallway with a weed smell/scent.
**The Front Desk Receptionist (afternoon) and daytime assistant heard our complaints and changed our room. They were kind and understanding.
Room #2:
1) TV Broken / No WI Signal
2) Talked to the Night Manager to change the TV
3) No lamp on the desk to see items
4) Per "NIGHT Time Manager" he said they were renovating the hotels. So, some rooms have desk lamps and some rooms do not.
5) Two large towels (we had to go back to the front desk and inquire about towels)
6) The towels were white, but mix-matched.
7) There was not a curtain shade provided in the room.
Rooms:
1) OLD furniture
2) Raggedy Lamps and lamp shades
3) Spotted Phones
4) Tall refrigerator
5) No microwave (in rooms) only on the 1st floor
6) No Ice Bucket
Bathroom:
1) Old fashioned HIGH tub -- If you are disabled and/or older person, please beware and be careful entering/exiting the tub.
2) No Handrail on the bathroom wall to keep your balance in the tub.
3) Slipper tub.
4) Weak shower pressure with a small shower nozzle that does not turn to select a different water pressure.
5) Hair on the shampoo bottle (not my hair!)
Ice Machine:
1) Ice Machine only on the 4th Floor.
TV:
1) A Roku TV with Netflix Prime, etc. (you must sign-in YOUR account information); You must remember to sign-out of the account BEFORE you check-out.
2) CABLE Service + Channels provided.
Hallways (see picture)
1) Trash in Hallways (see photo)
2) Weed stench/smell in the hallways (always)
3) Dirty and Filthy hallway carpet (1st floor, elevator, etc.)
Housekeeping:
1) I submitted a request for Housekeeping at 9AM on Friday and it was not completed. I informed the nighttime receptionist and she was kind enough to provide additional towels.
2) It took two days for housekeeping to clean, remove trash, and change bedding.
Elevators:
1) Elevators not working properly at ALL times!
2) OR the front desk receptionist will TURN OFF the main elevator because there were too many people entering/exiting the hotel (this is what I was told when I asked about why the elevator did not work and I had to access the stairs to get to my room)
3) Dirty and filthy carpet
4) Black Tape placed around the elevator buttons to keep it in tack.
Breakfast:
1) Hotel does not provide breakfast (for the price of the hotel room is diabolical)
2) There are two microwaves on the 1st floor on a long generic table. No decorations.
3) Two regular coffee pots
Snacks/Beverages:
1) See the photos
2) The hotel does not have a "working" vending machine.
3) Snacks and Sodas are stored behind the front desk for purchase ($2 each)
4) A sign on the Beverage Machine (see photo)
Security:
1) The Main Hotel doors are ALWAYS unlocked at all times.
2) Anyone can enter/exit the hotel(s) without restrictions.
3)The hotel has one security guard onsite
Establishment:
1) The hotel needs to revamp how they service the customers and the appearance of the hotel and employees.
2) I could not identify the employees because they were not in a uniform (e.g. Marriott, Hilton). The employees wore regular basketball attire and hats; jeans, etc. Therefore, it was difficult to ask for assistance
3) The Night Time manager with the Red basketball cap and shirt did not have empathy towards the concerns. He stated, "I'm taking note of this". -- on his cellphone.
4) Need to shut-down the hotel and renovate the entire building with updated materials, bedding, bathroom items, TVs, Breakfast, etc.
5) We asked to speak to a manager, but to no avail. The employees could NOT provide a name or number. Just a deer in headlights.
6) We could not find the management information on the website to submit a complaint.
PROS:
1)The hotels was in a good area (a few minutes from the Riverwalk, Lake Michigan and other tourist attractions)
2) The front desk receptionist and "daytime" assistant was kind and tried their best to make our stay comfortable.
**Note: If you read this review and decide to take a chance to stay here because you only need a 1-night stay, OR you believe the negative reviews are just from disgruntle customers - you've been warned! No one will spend $1500+ on a hotel and lie about it!**
