Found out today that they have a lunch special even though it's Saturday. You can get a personal size pizza and a trip to the salad bar. That sounded like a great lunch so Chicago Connection was today's lunch venue. I was instantly greeted at the door. It was petty slow so I had the pick of a lot of tables. Got my drink and order squared away and the nice server gave me a plate for the salad bar. Initially I thought the salad plate was so small but honestly, it was perfect! The salad bar had tons of goodies to put in your salad. Everything was all organized and clean. There were 4 different salad dressing options which was nice. With all the toppings available, it was hard not to get full of the salad. My little pizza was delivered and it was so cute! It was piping hot and the cheese was all melted beautifully. There was a good amount of pineapple. I love the sweet and savory combo. There was a slight heat to the sauce. Enough to make you aware but not overwhelming. I do wish there was more of a savory note to the tomato sauce. I found it very one noted. But overall it was a good little pizza! This joint is right around the corner from my work so I look forward to hitting this spot up for lunch. You can't beat such a good meal for a good deal. read more

We ordered online for a dine-in pickup the following day. When we got there, the pizza was ready to go, but was simply in a box, no plates, no napkins, etc. Asked for napkins, they gave us two small ones for a Large pizza... really? We took the box outside, they did check on us and we asked if we could get some plates and they brought us two paper plates. The pizza was good, but truly not a Chicago Pizza, just a simple thick crust pizza. When we ordered, we built a pizza with a selection of our own desired toppings and each topping cost $2.50 What we actually got on the pizza however were maybe a half a dozen SMALL pieces of each topping (with the exception of the black olives); maybe .10 cents worth? Hardly worthy of what ended up being a $40 pizza. We used to eat at the Chicago Connection back in 2010, 11 & 12 and while they are the same style of pizza, at least they put on the toppings that equated to the cost of the pizza. The upshot? Just like the thin crust pizza's that we cook at home, we ordered a Pizzeria Uno Deep Dish Pan from Pizzeria Uno when we got home, downloaded the recipe for it and will simply make it ourselves in the future. Would we go back there? Yes, nice place, clean, well laid out, indoor and outdoor dining, but in the future we would not order a build your own pizza as it is too spendy for what you get and get one of their signature pizza's with both individual pizza's and salad bars to keep the prices reasonable and hopefully a decent quality pizza that they make all of the time. I wish we could give it Two Thumbs Up, but they need to change two things for that. Make it like an authentic Chicago Pizza and either don't charge for the toppings or give you what they charge you for. read more

Disappointing experience. My order was never delivered, and I've had no response from head office despite being told I'd be returned a call. Taking the issue up with my bank instead. Edit- it appears this was a glitch in the system. I still wish I would have gotten better customer service from the multiple calls I sent-stuff happens though. We have been here a few times and enjoy the pizza, however we had a terrible experience ordering for delivery. We normally pick up but we have a newborn and thought delivery would be simpler. What a mistake. We ordered on a Tuesday night at 6:25pm, estimated delivery time was 7:23pm. An hour seemed a long time but we were ok with it. I call them at 7:45 as it hadn't shown up. The girl who answered said the driver had "left a while ago, it should be there any minute". We live a very short 5 min drive from this place. I call again at 8pm, the girl apologizes and says she'll put me on hold to call the driver. The call gets disconnected, so I call again. She said the driver should be pulling up. He showed up at 8:10pm. So we said no thank you and requested a refund. We won't be returning here again. So disappointing. read more

I love the Pizza at Chicago Connection, the downtown location, has great service and the quality of the food is impeccable. Pizza is good but if you phone in your order for their special, at the cash register, they will ring it up at full price. The first two times, I had someone else pick it up and the error was discovered at home when looking at the receipt. But it is not worth driving back for a couple of dollars. This last time was the final straw. We arrived at their estimated pickup time. I dropped off my wife while I parked. She scanned her card to pay but when I came in and looked at the receipt, I specifically asked, did we get the special, this looks high? No, we didn't but because we have already paid, she can't do anything about it. Wow! So I asked about the liter of pop. She could ring it up for me. Not the right answer, but I bit my tongue. This was my first time eating here. I was excited to have some deep dish pizza in Boise Idaho. First impressions of the restaurant. Super clean, decor was good, bench seats weren't comfortable, waitress was super friendly and nice. I liked her. The cheese garlic bread was something that I can eat everyday. Super garlicky, cheesy. Made my fingers greasy. Loved it. The pizza on the other hand... not a Chicago deep dish. Chicago pizza is inverted. Cheese on the bottom, toppings then the sauce. This was made like a normal pizza, tad thicker and with a buttery crust. I wouldn't say that this is a Chicago pizza at all. The pizza itself was good, not much flavor or sauce. Maybe if there was more sauce it would have more flavor. Their ranch was pretty good though. Added flavor to the pizza. I do have to say, the pizza came out looking real pretty. I typically order delivery from Chicago Connection, rather than actually dining in, though this downtown location is nice for that as well. Most recently, I ordered two specialty pizzas--their garlic chicken and Hawaiian chicken--for delivery. The garlic chicken has a creamy roasted garlic sauce topped with chicken, cheese, red onions, and sun dried tomatoes. The Hawaiian chicken pizza is a simple combination of red sauce, cheese, mesquite chicken, and pineapple. I love a good garlic chicken pizza and tend to appreciate pizzas with creamy sauces over red, so I was surprised that I actually preferred the Hawaiian chicken pizza. Not because their garlic chicken pizza is subpar--it's definitely not (especially with the inclusion of sun dried tomatoes! amazing!). The Hawaiian chicken pizza is just darn delicious. The sweet pineapple pairs so well with the savory smokiness of the chicken. Delish! The only aspect of their pizza that I'm less enthusiastic about is their crust. It's by no means bad--just the slightest bit dry and blander than I appreciate. Their prices are a little on the higher end for pizza (40+ to have two medium pizzas delivered, before tip). But, keep in mind their pizza is quite filling and fed three of us two full meals. Even with delivery, the pizza arrives hot. And, you can opt for them to keep the pizza uncut, to ensure maximum piping hot freshness upon delivery. Get to it! read more

We visited today for dinner and did not have a good experience with our waitress Deborah. Our orders were incorrect, she did not check on us once. We had to go to the kitchen to even ask for drink refills, which weren't filled all the way. And when I went to return a check that was not ours she was sitting in the kitchen talking to another employee and rolled her eyes when she saw me waiting for her. We witnessed another group wait for around 10 minutes to be acknowledged after walking in. The only times she had come to the table was to take our order, drop off our food which she left on another table, and when it was time for us to pay. My family and I have been coming to this Chicago connection in downtown Boise for years I've always loved the service. Today we went in to watch the final four college basketball championships and order our favorite pizza and salad. We asked to change the TV channel to the game and was told that they were not allowed to do that. The manager refused to come out of the back to talk to me. Very sad with the service. It's a charming little place to get some Amero-Italian food. I liked the lunch I had there. The service was good and the prices were for the most part appropriate; though $5.00 for a one-trip through he salad bar with a plate that is the size of a milk saucer is a bit of a jip and silly. (One can pay $9.00 for a one-trip through the salad bar with a regular size plate) I had the baked spaghetti with meatballs. It was good, but the sauce was a little sweeter than I generally like and the baking should have evaporated the water that was at the bottom of the dish, which indicates it was not drained appropriately. I consider myself a connoisseur when it comes to pizza and enjoy all types, New York style, deep dish Chicago, wood fired and artisan. I have eaten at most of Chicagos finest including LouMalnati's, Genos, UNOs, Giordano's and many more across greater Chicago. I search out the best rated pizza whenever in a new city all over the United States, this is not one. This pizza was a disappointment on every level. The dough was tasteless, sauce was bland and the cheese was a giant slab of white rubber. Even the toppings could not save this poor excuse for a pie. Chicago pizza parlors should band together and sue for using their great cities name together with pizza. If you are in Boise and are dying to have deep dish go anywhere else but here. At lunch you can get a personal Chicago style pizza and a small plate of salad for under $10. The pizzas are very flavorful and taste just like the authentic thick crust pizzas I've eaten in Chicago. There are many different flavors to choose from or you can make your own. They also have unlimited salad bar for ~$9 or you can take some salad to go. While we've had various inevitable isolated issues, they have been pretty consistent in their service and high food quality. The pizza is really good, and we especially appreciate the sauce. Until recently, I lived just around the block from this location. Until a few months ago, I had not known the marvelous wonders of Chicago Connection. Thanks to my boyfriend though, I was introduced and it became a (sort of) regular thing for us. Because I lived close, it was always easier to get take-out rather than to dine-in. We usually went delivery. I don't recall ever having Chicago style pizza before this, which is a damn shame because cheese is like my #1 most favorite food! Whether it is classic pepperoni or a combination choice, Chicago Connection always comes through. The crust is sturdy, but still soft and chewy. Very doughy. The toppings are plentiful and fresh, and they use just the right amount of a slightly sweet sauce. And the cheese... OHHHH the cheese. Piled high over the toppings to seal everything in perfectly. Of course we always order it cut, because I like to save myself the work. But always so good!! Maybe I'm being slightly biased because I'm craving a pie from here currently.. I've eaten pizza in all four corners of the country, from San Diego to Saratoga Springs; Seattle to Charleston, S.C.
