    Endive salad
    HOLLY P.

The three of us came tonight for memory purposes. Our family has been coming here for years. We had a death in the family and this was one of her favorite places. We had the celery remoloude salad and the onion soup gratinee for starters, and they were outstanding as usual. For our entrée, we got the special sand dabs, the veal pot roast, and the beef bourginion. And for dessert we had our usual chocolate mousse and crème brûlée. If you truly want a traditional French country meal, you need to come to Chez Pierre. There are always many evening specials, in addition to their traditional menu to choose from and they do not disappoint. The customer service is excellent, the prices are right, and the food is absolutely delicious.

We went for the first time but not the last, last night. We were pleasantly surprised how delicious the bread and pate were to start, which is complementary. Then they have some great summer specials through October for $59. That includes an entrée, an appetizer and a dessert which are very large in size for a French restaurant. The only thing that wasn't amazing was possibly the fish and the potatoes au gratin. Next time we are going to get the French onion soup, the Caesar salad and try the liver and onions and the pasta dishes or -possibly the steak. We also loved our cocktails, our server , and the homey atmosphere .

    Chicken mushroom crêpe

Excellent! Service and meals were perfect. The staff was so welcoming and very professional and polite greeted you with a warm smile and a welcome. This is our second time in a week that we visited. Mom loved the chicken mushroom crêpe. We ordered the first visit and she had to get it again. I tried the steak omelette, which was recommended by a patron who was leaving the restaurant and it was delicious. The steak was so tender. There was nothing I would change about either of the meals. The atmosphere is very cozy. Tables are situated very close to others and it may be a bit loud for people that want a quieter evening, but that's the charm of being in a restaurant that is packed. This sounds of people's voices mingling together is somewhat like the sound of a bustling life. It's reasonably priced for the location and area and you can expect to get a more upgrade and carefully put together meal. If you're looking for a mom and pop shop, this is not the place. We've been there for dinner a long time ago. I believe we enjoyed it as well but this is the first time I went in for breakfast and it was delicious.

The Classic Onion Soup au Gratin

Wanted to try a new restaurant in the Coachella Valley and Chez Pierre had been on my list for a while. Figured this was as good a time as any to try it! All I can say is...how have I not been here before? It's rare to find good French food in general, and for Palm Desert to have such a great spot is very surprising. Every dish was great, quick rundown below: 1. Escargots Burgundy Style: When I think of escargot, this is exactly what I want. Heavy with butter and garlic, and very savory! 2. The Classic Onion Soup au Gratin: Same with onion soup, I want my onion soup extremely cheesy with loads of flavor. The bread inside the soup soaked up the soup and was great. 3. Maple Leaf Duck Breast: The duck breast was cooked absolutely perfectly, almost tasted like steak! My only quibble is that I wasn't a huge fan of the orange sauce as it made the overall dish a bit sweeter than I would have preferred. 4. Branzino: It's hard to get branzino wrong, and they did not do that here. It was served as a fillet, so it was easy to eat. 5. Braised Beef Bourguignon: Really loved this dish. They did not hold back on the beef, and the sauce was typical savory bourguignon sauce. 6. Chocolate Mousse Chantilly: Probably shouldn't have ordered this because we were absolutely stuffed. But it was exactly as the name says. Very mousse! Service was great here, no complaints from me. Ambience is nice. It's a small, cozy place that is clearly frequented by older folks. Tables were a bit closer than I would prefer, but it's to be expected by a place that isn't that big. Definitely need to come back here to try some of the other items on the menu.

    Veal Picatta

Table for two. Friday at about 8PM about 5 parties in restaurant. Friendly waiter. Large basket of bread, butter and liver pate delivered quickly. Both of us had the onion soup to start. Beautiful crust of cheese and broth to die for. Unfortunately, the broth was lukewarm. Hubs had veal picatta. Sauce was perfectly seasoned, vegetables good and pasta slightly overcooked. The veal just did not look appetizing. Look at pics and you'll get it. I had the frisse salad. Nice chunks of cubed bacon, croutons, light citrus dressing, and a beautiful poached egg. But, the greens were awkward to eat- salad bunched up and impossible to cut with the butter knife. Gave up and left most of the greens on my plate. Overall, I would rate this as a budget French-ish restaurant given the food quality, decor and table settings. Given the budget-friendly price, completely acceptable. But I believe that with some tweaks, Chez Pierre could be very good. Today it was okay.

The menu is thoughtfully curated, showcasing French cuisine with creative and modern twists that make each dish feel distinctive. The beef tartare is a must-order for anyone who enjoys raw beef. Its flavor and texture are unlike any tartare I've had before. The beef is incredibly silky and smooth--almost pâté-like in consistency--while still retaining its freshness. Paired with their baguette, it creates a well-balanced and memorable bite. The elk was an ambitious choice, but it was executed exceptionally well. In fact, the chef mentioned that it is one of the dishes he is most proud of, and it is easy to see why. The dish paired elk cooked to a perfect level with a reduction sauce that didn't mask the taste of the meat. While the main courses were excellent, the desserts and side dishes did not quite reach the same standard. If those elements were elevated to match the quality and creativity of the restaurant's standout dishes, I could easily see this restaurant being worthy of a Michelin star.

We like to enjoy the sun and people watching which patio is alway a good option for us. Of course we make friends with the waiter as they alway take care of us. Everyone here from the staff, waiter and waitress, and the owners are all very sweet and friendly. Menu is alway great. You have both the breakfast and brunch menu. We tend to come for them mainly but have never tried dinner here. Of course the bubbly is always a good start. A bottle with three juice options and fresh fruit for adornment. Strawberries and blueberries for the bougie bubbly effect. And for the price, it's worth it. Food wise, we went with the chicken sandwich with salad and the burger with fruit. A side of fries is definitely a must even if it comes with it. Portion for the sandwich was massive. Nice thick piece of grilled and marinaded chicken breast filled with lettuce, tomatoes, onion and avocados on toasted bread. It's massive even when they sliced it in halves. And the burger, two nice patties with lettuce, tomato, cheese, onion and bacon. A classic and it was delicious. I'm not a burger person but every now and then a bite is worth it. The food has alway been excellent. Crowd is alway nice and bubbly. It's cute chit chatting with the other guest nearby. Also we found out that they close for about two months in July and August as that's their holiday time. Glad we made it before it happened. It's a nice place for brunch as it's alway our go to whenever we can't figure out something.
