Spectacular dining experience here while visiting PS. Booked thru open table for 8:30 on Sunday evening. We arrived 15 minutes early and decided to have a cocktail in bar while waiting for table. We were told they were running 5-10 minutes behind but the Maitre D came to seat us before our cocktails were even ordered. lol We were sat on the fabulous patio with a gorgeous view of the scene. Good people watching if that's your thing. The first white jacketed back waiter took our water order and brought warm baguette with butter. For cocktails we had absolutely perfect gimlets on the rocks. Not too sweet or tart. Just right. Then another brought us an appetizer as a mea culpa for running late! ( They never were!) It was a wonderful cauliflower soup. Our main waiter came by to introduce himself, Jonathon( excellent, request him!) and explain the menu which was handwritten on white board. Love that! We ordered filet tartare, lobster ravioli and sea bass. They were all perfectly prepared and delicious. For dessert we devoured the chocolate soufflé. Don't skip on a chocolate soufflé! They are a rare commodity in dining these days. Other reviews noted high prices. I live in a big city where the prices are comparable if not higher. So we found them commensurate with the quality of food and level of service. I would dine here weekly if I were local, or at least cocktails at the bar. I made 7:15 dinner reservations for 2 on a Wednesday evening. Upon arrival, my friend and I were greeted by the hostess and lead to a beautiful outdoor dining venue. We were seated at a table that we were not happy with, jammed in between to large parties and the easel menu board. We asked for another table which was then perfect. David S. was our server, very nice, friendly, and fairly attentive. The restaurant was filled. There were a couple periods during our dining experience that there were odd long waits, like in the beginning after we got our drinks we had to wait for the menu and wait after our appetizer for our entree, but nothing to keep us from coming back. We ordered cocktails then looked at the easel menu when it was finally presented. My friend ordered the Escargot appetizer and the Lamb for his entree. I ordered the Crunchy Boston Scallops and the Lobster Ravioli for my entree. When the dishes were served they were all presented beautifully. All the dishes tasted heavenly... One of my favorite restaurants ever, and if you follow my reviews on this site, you know that means something. I eat out almost every day, and my husband and I go to nice up market places for dinner at least twice a week. First, the place is gorgeous. It flows seamlessly from indoors to outdoors, where one is under a canopy of huge trees bedecked it twinkle lights. The French cuisine's the real deal. The dishes are rich with thick sauces and the sides are French perfection. This is no place to stay on your diet. We've had many Christmas dinners there, Luxurious to as fault, the tables give your Table one complete yule log, if it's requested (and it should be). It just seems like a perfect place. A bit overrated tbh. My wife and I came for a special night out. We were seated in the bar for 20 mins by a somewhat obnoxious hostess because they had some issues in the patio. Best appetizer may have been the biggest joke in my dining experience - believe they were trader joe beets with these little squeezes of mascarpone cheese. Had dinner here over Easter weekend. We loved the outdoor garden seating and it was a perfect night to dine outside. Service was great and all the dishes came out in a timely manner. We had Mothers Day Brunch. The waiter Marteen has been there 38 years and has seen EVERYBODY and gave us excellent service. Matt and Steven got us a good table with no fuss reservations. The food was fabulous and considering everything a reasonable $110 for a 3 course meal. Even the car Valet was wonderful. Made a reservation and was first to arrive at 5 PM. We sat outside on the patio, and there were trees all over it was a beautiful scene. We started with bread and butter, and we ordered the beet soup. It was cold. It tasted very good. If I were to explain what the soup tasted like, I would say it tasted like a purple sorbet, ice cream, For dinner, I ordered the Roasted Rack Of Lamb, mustard herb and breadcrumbs crusts au jus, ratatouille, potato croquette. The dinner had some of the best taste I've ever had at a French restaurant. If you're looking for something tasty, this restaurant would be the best one. The food - could have been great. The branzino, the Chilean sea bass - both cold. The duck I heard was good. The sides non existent. For a $60 salmon you'd expect good, fresh, well-cooked vege-none of that happened. The fish was tasteless and the worst part - they were just slightly warm. I heard the escargot were fine. Potatoes tasted like they were from a box. Drinks were pricey. The service was not up to par. We were ignored for quite a while. I think our server an attitude. The drinks were brought and it took awhile to get the menu board. The bread was good but the butter was so cold it was not spreadable. One diner had an allergy and that was ignored by our server. $6 to park, $68 for sea bass - surely this is a place for millionaires who don't appreciate high level food. The ambiance was beautiful but it was chilly outside. I don't know what happened to this place. It's been a year since our last visit. and we all felt like we wouldn't be back. My mother and I just came back from having Christmas dinner at Le Vallauris. I was a bit scared of spending our evening here given the recent, questionable reviews but we had a great time. Service started off a bit poor with us being seated and given water, but then we didn't see anyone for about 15 minutes or so after that. Once we placed our orders, everything was perfection. The food was outstanding, despite not knowing that is was a set menu at $135/pp. Oysters were a tad small, but my mom loved her beet and burrata salad. Her filet and my sea bass were awesome. Desserts were equally as tasty; PB&J log and Passionfruit Creme Brûlée. The restaurant was cozy inside, but my chair had the fabric torn which wasn't the best look for such a nice place. Wow! Talk about a surprise! This has to be one of the best restaurants in Palm Springs! The food is fantastic, has excellent service plus has a beautiful decor but what really fascinated me was its rich history. Lovely setting! Food was good but for the price you pay you would expect elevated service. That was lacking and our waiter was not very good. We told him at the beginning we wanted separate checks; our friend declined a second glass of wine which was brought anyway. Then at the end of the meal we were given one check. When asked to put it on two different ones were told no, but we could split it. We told him we'd asked for separate checks at the beginning of the evening and to go figure it out. 10 minutes later he did bring our separate checks. Its a small restaurant with indoor and outdoor options but looks a bit aged. Also, when they give you a menu, its just one big board with the dishes they have for the day. Not an individualized menu. So some might have to turn their backs when scanning. Food wise, I would actually say it was okay but not the best top quality! The steak tartare was good but feel like missing more sides than just potato chips. The lobster ravioli was good too. Caught me offguard when the ravioli was a bit chewy to eat. However, well portioned. Service is good but not the best. Seems like they are just trying to get the most out of you. Also, don't bother bringing a birthday cake here if you don't want to get charged. They charge a corkage fee of $5 per person. Literally walked out. The hostess took 20 minutes to bother coming over to the seven and growing couples waiting to be seated. No apology. Tried to seat the two of us under two easel menus at a five top in the middle of the courtyard. The menu is scrawled on a whiteboard that they haul around from table to table. We have been coming here for years, almost exclusively for Sunday brunch. It's on our list of must-do things for Palm Springs. The only way to describe Sunday brunch on the patio tucked up against the mountain in the filtered sunlight of the ficus trees is - enchanted. The place has changed a little over the years. The food has had ups and downs, and a couple of years ago I thought it might be losing some of its luster, but last week was excellent. Many reviews talk about the wait for service, but I believe that is all part of the experience. It seems they truly want you to unwind and enjoy your time there- which I personally love, especially with such a gorgeous outdoor patio to enjoy your wine in. Their wine selection was amazing- we decided to try their moscato and it was perfectly sweet. We went out of our comfort zone and tried their soup of the day- beet gazpacho. For two not so big fan of beets, it was honestly worth the try and an acquired taste we got use to. For our entree's, I ordered the main lobster ravioli and my boyfriend ordered the roasted rack of lambs- both were absolutely delicious and something I will crave now often. I wanted to experience the restaurant that Frank Sinatra attended so often. He hosted parties for his celebrity friends here. I understand that the chef Sinatra planned his menu with still cooks here but he is retiring. The place is beautiful. The dining inside and out is glamorous. It's worth a visit. I had the lobster ravioli. It was delicious with generous chunks of fresh lobster served in a bisque. It was the best I've tasted. Well worth the price. The wine list is very extensive. The menu was a white board. I thought it was hard to read. Service was adequate but simple questions about the wine and menu were deflected. It was a slow process closing out our bill. The equivalent of a financial shiv. Overpriced, and deceptively so in a way that borders on fraudulent. The prices listed on the sites website are expensive, but within reason. However, the actual prices at the restaurant are WAY higher (e.g, the lobster ravioli is listed as $46 online but actually costs $82) to the point the restaurant would be pricey anywhere, let alone in Palm Springs. I've attached photos for proof. To boot, they don't have physical menus, only white boards that include the menu that they wheel around to each table. So, you don't get to even see the prices until you've been sat at the table for awhile. In effect, you are a hostage to this pricing scheme. What are you going to do, leave the restaurant after you've reserved a table and been sat for half an hour? Of course not, you just have to sit there and take it. The food itself was fine (except for the scottish salmon. that was an atrocity) but not special enough to be worth the exorbitant price. The service was downright bad. Like truly, remarkably bad. Fool me once... This Teflon French style café needs an entirely new makeover. Our server, second year in a row, was a great detractors to us hoping to find a dining experience. He was condescending, often unavailable and cold. The salads poor. My enliven had but 1 crumble of roquefort. My duck breast was overcooked and the crispy skin was certainly not. The veal medallions were skimpy and flat, no flavor. Cream rules was loose, almost watery. Again the use of these silly white boards are confusing. Difficult to read, essentially useless to the 4 of us. Can you not even print a simple menu with categories? We'll not return to this enormously expensive "high end" cafe. read more

Le Vallauris was an unfortunate disappointment. The hostess was lovely as was the patio ambiance, but our server was either negligent, overwhelmed with serving, or overburdened with tables. Our drinks came late, I had to get up to grab the hostess to get our server to get us food, and eventually what seemed to be a busser ended up serving for us (shout out to Mark, who was truly kind and tried to help us to the best of his abilities). I think we saw our server 3 times our whole meal. We eventually got up to get the hostess to bring us a manager. He indicated he was a new manager and gave us platitudes to thank us for the feedback but he could not undo what was done. I asked that the entrees be comped and he agreed. At this point, I am more disappointed in the management. The food was decent, though not noteworthy. The service was egregious in general and especially for what we considered the caliber of the restaurant, and I am sorry to say I cannot recommend dining here. read more

My friend had the salmon and veal(that was one of their most longest standing item on the menu). We also ordered the escargot and scallops for starters. The escargot was delicious! We dipped bread into the garlic butter and that was very good. The scallops had a little too much batter. But the main dishes were very good. The manager came over to the table twice to check on us and at the end, they brought out a flaming candle for the birthday girl! Nice touch! Dressed in subtIe designer's finest, I was met at the entrance by a man checking my reservation for Sunday brunch. When I told him my guest, at rhe last minute, could not make it, he became livid and began to admonish me in a thick accent. I was led to a seat in a dark corner. My meager breakfast arrived, which was nothing like brunch. A server filled my water glass once. No one stopped by the table to ask if all was ok the entire time. The bill was 70.00 plus tax and tip for a couple of eggs, sausage and toast. I also had coffee and an unremarkable dessert. I told the very nice server that I left a double tip because the original reservation was for two and the man at the door was disturbed because apparently the restaurant had to pay Open Door for a reservation for two. This was a terrible experience. I will never return. read more

I had a great dinner at this restaurant on a Saturday in mid December...problem is I was overcharged by approximately $700. The restaurant manager, Kate indicated over the phone after many unanswered calls to the restaurant that she would make good on correcting the billing issue. That was several weeks ago and I haven't heard anything since, nor have I seen the $700 credited back to my credit card. Once again, I am making call after call but no one is picking up. We wanted to try this restaurant for a while. Decided to go for brunch. Warning, prices on the website are not accurate. We thought $79 for brunch was a little high, but there are 3 courses and each course has many choices to choose from plus it comes with champagne as well, so worth the price. The food was delicious! I started with the liver pate, so good! I had the salmon benedict, and it was one of the best ones I have ever had, eggs cooked perfectly and delicious hollandaise. My husband had lamb and said it was 9 out of 10! The deserts were fantastic! Some of the reviews criticize slow service, but I loved the way they gave us time to enjoy our 3 courses. This is by far our favorite spot to experience a top quality night out. We have been making it a point to dine there each time my wife and I go to the dessert. The atmosphere, food and attentive service is fantastic! Dining al fresco in the patio is a must. If it's too hot or cold you always have the option to dine inside as we did. We've been going there for the past 15 years. Most recently was this past St. Patrick's Day for our 53rd wedding anniversary. They did not disappoint. Both my wife and I highly recommend it.
