    French Onion Soup Gratinee

Was in town for a conference and I am so glad that we chose to have dinner at Cafe Des Beaux-Arts! The decor and ambiance is quaint and cozy. Upon entry, our party of four (with a 5 and 6 year-old) were warmly greeted and promptly seated. We were given fresh, warm bread that the kiddos gladly gobbled up. We decided against the offered replenishment so as not to spoil their appetites. Every dish was so good and enjoyed by everyone in our group (yes, including the kids!) I rarely return to restaurants in areas I am visiting as I prefer to try new places, but I would definitely make an exception for Cafe Des Beaux-Arts. We also really appreciated the maitre'd accommodating our request to be moved so we could enjoy our dessert when an abundantly-perfumed group were seated next to us. The service, food, and overall experience were all top notch. Thank you for such a wonderful dining experience!

My little family had the absolute best experience at this gem of a restaurant. We didn't have reservations but we had to try the best French restaurant in town so we tried our luck and we didn't have any problems getting a booth on a Sunday evening. We were greeted warmly by the host and our server showed attentiveness to our littles right away. Without being requested, the kids were given children friendly cups of water with their coloring sheets and crayons upon being seated. The menu had so many wonderful dishes and I wish I had a bigger stomach and appetite to enjoy a few dishes to myself! I opted for the seafood feuillette - a pastry filled with shrimp, scallops, and mushroom with lobster sauce and a side of saffron rice. It was savory and very filling! The seafood inside was very generous! My husband enjoyed his branzino and we also shared mussels as an appetizer! The kids shared linguine with grilled chicken. For dessert we shared a raspberry sherbet, Nutella & banana crepe, and profiteroles. Wow, everything was delicious! We were blown away with the flavors but what really made our experience a great one was the lovely staff! We cannot rave about our experience enough and we will definitely visit again to try other dishes the next time we're in town. Thank you for a lovely evening!

I had French onion soup which was amazing! The best I've had outside Paris! Then had shrimp freutille in lobster sauce in a pastry with saffron rice that was insanely good! My wife has shrimp crepe also wonderful! Daughter got chicken ravioli that she loved! Everything was amazing!

Staff very friendly and they seated us right away at a window seat. We ordered the Duck l'orange and coq au vin. Food potions were good and dishes were tasty. Place was busy and the noise level was average.

French cuisine at its finest. Cafe Des Beaux-Arts sounds like a cafe and art gallery. But it is a wonderful French restaurant with amazing food. We ate so well. The salad was beautifully made and the pear was perfectly ripe. The arugula (rocket) was lightly dusted with dressing, a nice touch. The duck was perfect and the evening was magnificent. The service is impressive and the ambiance was sweet and serene. Some art on the walls is for sale. This is a gem of a restaurant. After eating here, I considered eating here every night for the next few nights to try more on the menu. But alas, my boyfriend had plans to try other establishments. Tres bon.

This is a wonderful little French bistro located on a corner of El Paseo in Palm Desert. They have very minimal indoor seating, but the outdoor seating is cooled with fans and misters. It has a huge array of food selection. The menu is absolutely gorgeous and the food taste phenomenal. I highly recommend trying this place next time you're out this way.

Beef Medallions Marched de Vin Sauce. Excellent. Wonderful sauce.

Really thought our visit here was wonderful. We aat in a booth in the bar area. Although darker, it was cooler and less noisy than out on the patio. Our service was excellent and our server was actually bartending too. I had an appletini to start with and it was delicious. Right proportion of alcohol to beverage. Our group of three started with the des beaux art salad first. It was actually the best salad I've had in years. It had hearts of palm in it which I love. I had the beef medallions. I ordered me medium rare and that's exactly what I got that also was delicious. The sauce was rich and flavorful and the meat was good quality. The other two in my group had the sanddabs and beef bourginon (spelling?). Both offered me tastes and they were delicious. Hearty portions. I haven't been to Café des Beaux Arts in many years and I'm sorry for that. I will be back soon as it was a great experience.

We got escargot, a salmon Benedict croissant, and a chicken crepe with mushroom. Escargot is tender, with the garlic butter it goes really well with the baguette. I've had escargot dishes across many fine dining establishments, and the dish here is also top notch. Salmon croissant has a great balance and is simply satisfying to eat. I ordered the Crepe Supreme. Generally, I'm not a big cheese lover but the cheese on this crepe is cooked very nicely and I enjoy it. The portion is pretty big too. I could've just stopped at the first piece, but couldn't help but finishing the whole thing because it is so good. I only have nice things to say about the service here because everyone is warm and friendly. Pacing is great and my coffee gets refilled promptly. It feels chill and relaxing, and no one bothers us with weird timing check-ins when we have food in our mouth. Our total comes out to $70 for 2 people. Red wine flight included a fantastic Cab & Cab Reserve, and a "very good" Pinot...and that's coming from a person who does not drink Pinot. I didn't care for the blend but then again I never care for a blend as it is. Food was "American" style tapas - small plates of well crafted foods ranging from flatbread pizza to meatballs to vege pockets and (for me) a "Vegan Stack" composed of rice, mango, avocado, and a delicious spicy mayo. Tiramisu dessert disappeared in all of 20 seconds, well plated and beautifully crafted. We had originally booked patio seating, but from the moment we walked in, the experience felt thoughtful and genuinely hospitable. We were warmly greeted by the owner, who immediately noticed we had a baby and proactively offered to relocate us to a more protected outdoor area while still preserving the al fresco experience. He set us up in the covered outdoor section to the right of the restaurant--best described as a beautifully styled canopy space rather than a typical patio. It was lush, cozy, and lavishly decorated with greenery, honestly a vibe all on its own. He even turned on the heaters to make sure our baby stayed warm. That level of care alone already set the tone for the night. Now let's talk about the food--because wow. This is classic French comfort done right. We started with the chicken liver pâté, which was easily one of the best I've had to date. Silky, rich, and deeply flavorful. This dish was especially nostalgic for me--my mom is a huge fan of pâté, and growing up we'd often eat it with bread as a snack or light meal. One bite instantly transported me back. Comfort food in the truest sense. For entrées, my wife ordered the Boeuf Bourguignon--tender, slow-braised beef that practically melted, swimming in a deeply savory, wine-forward sauce that felt both rustic and refined. I went with the Steak au Poivre, perfectly cooked and coated in a bold, peppery cream sauce that struck that ideal balance between richness and bite. Both dishes were executed beautifully--classic French flavors, no shortcuts, no gimmicks. Drinks were just as satisfying. I ordered a dirty Grey Goose martini with blue cheese olives, and let me tell you--it's surprisingly hard to find places that actually carry blue cheese olives. This one detail alone earned extra points in my book. The ambiance really tied everything together. French music played throughout both the indoor and outdoor spaces--some tracks were even recognizable, adding to the authenticity without feeling cliché. It felt transportive, warm, and relaxed. And bonus points for location: the restaurant sits right next to Handel's Homemade Ice Cream, making it dangerously easy (and highly recommended) to follow up dinner with dessert. All in all, French Rotisserie Cafe delivered on hospitality, atmosphere, and genuinely excellent French cuisine. Whether you're visiting Palm Desert for the first time or you're a local, this spot is absolutely worth a reservation.
