Why Carr Hardware Lenox Has Lost My Trust and Business…read more I bought 2 sodastream refills at the Lenox store. The total came out to $47.98 or $23.99 each including tax. The same refill online through sodastream is $16.99 with free shipping for purchases of $65 or more ($18.05 a bottle including tax). Meanwhile, at this very moment in the heart of SF, you can purchase the same refill at my former hardware store Cliff's Variety for $18.46 including tax. Why was I being charged nearly 6 dollars more per refill by Carr Hardware? I was shocked when I looked at my receipt when I got home. What gives? I called the store and questioned the manager, Patty and explained the price discrepancies I had been finding. She was dismissive at first citing "price increases" as her justification. I told her I would complain about my experience online and then she said "corporate sets the prices and she would check and get back to me." I have yet to receive a return call. It's upsetting that post-covid so many businesses, local independents and large corporations alike, are willing to gouge their customers and their community. After some online research, my experience with Carr Hardware's refill pricing is comparable to complaints I had read about online by Walmart customers. I will be reporting my experience to the Better Business Bureau and caution you to be vigilant at the checkout counter if you shop at Carr Hardware. They've lost my trust and my business. UPDATE: Refills are roughly $18 at Staples Pittsfield

I have zero experience with Shopify except to know that they build websites for small businesses which includes credit card services. I have never bought from a Shopify company until 1 week earlier. I never trust unknown vendors with my credit card data so checked out as a guest. I had no KNOWN problem with the first company (until now). Checking out with Whole Life Pet ALL OF MY DATA PRE-POPULATED INCLUDING MY CARD INFO. This upset me. At the time I wasn't aware the problem was Shopify so tried to reach the cat food people. Maybe they were closed. Since I was mad that my sensitive data was retained, I may have left multiple messages at several locations. I felt time was important. Keep in mind that Shopify is their chosen vendor therefore it is Whole Life Pet. I received a phone call after the weekend from a call Verizon labeled as Potential Spam at 6:30AM Monday. It woke me. Jenny left me a voice mail message. She said that they do not save card data. That's when I decided it was Shopify. She was rude saying I threatened them. I never said more than that I would leave a bad review if the call was not returned. I immediately called back & asked for Jenny. I was told by another rude woman that Jenny was not available. Woman 2 then repeated that I had threatened them & they will turn me into the "authorities" if I called again.. She also said they do not retain card data. She also said I did not know what I was doing. My mouth was open to say "then it was your credit card provider" but she hung up on me. I called back & the call went to vm. I said "Please do call the authorities". I also tried to contact Shopify. They hide their photo number. I left a chat message during business hours. They replied by email the next morning. They said that they DO retain card data. I was confused on the cat food products so decided to order a sampler. It includes 2 bags of dehydrated food & 3 bags of treats. I didn't pay attention to what is in the package or I would have ordered just the dehydrated food. We have 3 cats. 2 ate their treats & 1 did not. Except Salmon & Chicken flavors that all really liked. Only one of our 3 cats would eat the food.

The customer service is non existent if the plant and fish shipment is being unloaded…read more If they aren't busy and you want something they make you walk over and pull a ticket and wait for your number to be called. I was there today and it wasn't busy, but the shipment was being unloaded. I pulled my ticket but no one was calling out numbers. I finally asked a woman for help but she said "I don't work here but I'll let them know". At that point I just left. I've been ignored there for 25 years going back to the old Latham location. One positive experience I had was a few years ago. They had species plant I wanted but there was only a couple left. The salesman informed me that they had some that were yet to be unpacked in the back room. Long story short he was reprimanded for selling plants that weren't yet in the display case (in front of me while I was checking out). That ruined the experience and made me feel I did something wrong. So I guess I never had a positive experience, I just witnessed someone going above and beyond being treated like trash. It's sad to say, but I'm actually happier walking in and not seeing anything I want to buy. The stressful part is seeing something I want and having to jump through hoops to get someone's attention and get service. To sum things up it's not really worth the stress for me and I will go elsewhere from

My name is Jessica and I live in Boston, Massachusetts. As a marine biologist, during a recent…read morevisit my husband and I were disappointed to see Eddie's Aquarium Centre housing incompatible species together -- for example, Flagtail Porthole Catfish (Dianema urostriatum), Kribensis Cichlids (Pelvicachromis pulcher), Butterfly Plecos (Dekeyseria sp.), and Congo Tetras (Phenacogrammus interruptus) in the same tank. These fish require different water parameters and have very different temperaments, which creates stress and weakens their immune systems. Stressed fish are far more likely to develop ich (Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, or "white spot disease"), and once one fish is infected, the entire tank is at risk. Unfortunately, stores that mix species like this often deny responsibility and may mislead customers to avoid refunds or replacements. For anyone buying fish from any store that displays mixed species, I strongly recommend quarantining and proactively treating for potential bacterial, viral, or parasitic infections before adding them to your main aquarium. This precaution protects both your tank and your fish.
