Chez Moi - Eggs Norwegian - French Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Always a go to for this neighborhood. Fantastic service for one. The food is always top notch. The escargot is fantastic, always a treat, just so, so good. I usually go with the skate, comes with some nice veggies and mashed potatoes. This time I was enticed by the fish special which was some fish, shrimp, mussels, fingerling potato and zucchini in a kind of light curry sauce. All delicious, just beautifully cooked. My buddy always goes for the salmon or chicken, with the salmon being his favorite. Good wine and a really nice chocolate mousse for dessert! read more

I'm not sure why I waited so long to check out Chez Moi, but how was I supposed to know they've got it all? And by all, this is what I mean: An EXCELLENT steak frites. A simple, perfect burger. So juicy it'll soak the bun right through. Rich, luscious foie gras that'll transport you directly to Paris. A very nice country pâté. Delicious cocktails. A very decent, huge portion of tuna tartare. A new risotto special every day, one that always satisfies. $1 big, beautiful Bluepoint oysters until 7 pm on the weekdays. Five different types of mussels, all worth ordering. A molten onion soup gratinee you'll want to burn yourself on over and over again. Fantastic service. Every employee will offer a smile, and they are all looking to please. For instance, one time we forgot our leftovers and our waiter chased us halfway down the block to make sure we got to enjoy every bite we paid for. After several visits, these are the only issues I've encountered: 1. The butter they offer with their bread are the cold packets, rather than warm, convenient, spreadable butter. 2. One time they told us the risotto was roasted tomato, and it turned out to be butternut squash. Still delicious. 3. One time I got my Manhattan up, instead of on the rocks. Still delicious. 4. My legs tend to fall asleep when I sit on their barstools. I'm assuming this is my own fault, and I just don't know how to sit properly. Clearly, the pros outweigh the cons. read more

If you ever need a spot to stop into or a cute spot for a date or with friends, Chez Moi is a great choice! The food is delish, the service is friendly, the cocktails are sophisticated but at fair prices and there is a speakeasy in the basement. Be sure to try the duck - they cooked it perfectly medium with an excellent citrus sauce. read more

PROS: - Crispy Chicken Sandwich - OMG this is amazing! You have to get this! Portions are big and the chicken was fried to perfection and it was juicy. 5 STARS - Mushrooms, Cheese, Spinach Crepe - very filling. Very delicious however it was slightly on the salty side. 4 STARS. CONS: - Chez Moi Cocktail (Vodka, Fresh Mint, Lime, Crème de Cassis, Seltzer)- was rec'd by the waitress to get this but I did not like it. I did not taste the Creme de Cassis at all in this drink. It was mostly vodka and fresh mint. - I had heartburn from drinking the cocktail with the fried chicken. I guess next time I am not going to mix alcohol with greasy and fried food. Lesson learned. read more

Charming French restaurant where the historic Brooklyn Heights meets Cobble Hill. Warm ambiance; the kind of place where you can sit at the bar with a book and good glass of wine or enjoy dining with friends or lovers. The food is delicious with what I consider to be the best eggs benedict and eggs Norwegian in the city. Drinks don't disappoint either-- an excellent espresso martini, melted-to-order chocolate martini, and a beautiful absinthe drip, to name a few. Staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. And the bathroom is tres French with the sexiest wallpaper. Great spot for brunch or dinner, and you can cap the night off by going behind the bookshelf to a Marie Antoinette inspired speakeasy. read more

Chez Moi - Beautifully crafted espresso martini by Sean - French Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

This restaurant is exquisite. I came here on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Asked for a table for one and they accommodated me even though I didn't have a reservation. The service was wonderful, food quality and presentation was classy and neat, and the drinks were to die for. The tuna tartare and escargot is a MUST ORDER!!! Great staff- asking me if I needed anything and checking in on how things were. I watched the staff hustling and bustling! Very hardworking staff. read more

a great place to eat and drink! the drinks were mixed well and the food was great, should've had more. read more

Right on the edge of Brooklyn Heights, this french like restaurant really delivers. Very friendly, seats you quickly (with reservations), and works to deliver what you desire. We really enjoyed the oysters, especially during happy hour prices. The escargot is absolutely amazing. The "steak and frites" were our hosts favorites, and ordering them once, we agreed. During our three weeks visit, we went here at least four times - and they recognized us quickly. Great place, great food. read more

On Saturday evening I had a reunion with 2 good friends that I hadn't laid eyes on since well before the pandemic started at Chez Moi. The evening started pleasantly enough. We ate and enjoyed our well-prepared meals. I had one glass of wine, and my companions each had 2 cocktails supplemented with several glasses of water.  We paid our checks when in less than 5 minutes after the waitress had scooped up the signed receipts we were told that the hostess needed us to leave. We weren't being loud or obnoxious because that's not who we are. There seemed to be an archness between my female companion and the waitress; she asked to please have her cocktail brought with her entrée because she wanted to have food ( the appetizer  ) in her stomach before drinking. That, without explaining why, didn't seem to sit well with the waitress. At another point during our meal, my female companion took a moment to pause eating having about 2 or 3 bites left on her plate when no less than 4 people came and asked if she was finished; I didn't understand the rush as the restaurant was less than halfway full, the bar wasn't crowded and the wait staff was huddled by the bar so they weren't being rushed off their feet. So when we were told that the hostess "needed" the table it was mystifying. I'd like to give them a little more credit and not assume that it was the fact that the 3 of us were Black ( 2 tall Black men and 1 petite Black woman ) but we were the only POC in the establishment and none of the other patrons we "rushed" to finish eating and then not only asked to leave when we weren't causing a disturbance and then followed to the door with feigned apologies! My friends were mortified and upset as this was a favourite restaurant of theirs that they frequented and wanted me to experience the gastronomic pleasure they had experienced only to have it marred by this bizarre behaviour. In all my 63 years of living, I have NEVER had such an embarrassing and baseless experience! NEVER! The food was great but not enough for me to return or recommend this establishment to others; who knows what friends or family might experience based on their perceived ethnicities. read more

I am so glad we found this place. There are many high brow and overpriced French restaurants out there. Chez Moi is not one of them. Everything from the drinks and the food to the ambience and service was *chef's kiss.* This one of the only restaurants in the neighborhood we were able to get dinner reservations on July 4th. We came here for dinner at 8pm and walked to the river to watch the fireworks at around 9:30. It was quite PERFECT. For cocktails, we got the Aviator and the Basilic. The Basilic reminds me of smarties in drink formation, and the Aviator tastes like your typical ginny and citrusy tonic. We shared a few small plates which were all very, very good: - Escargots (snails) came out piping hot (word to the wise: give it a few minutes before digging in if you don't want to burn your tongue) - Mussels Marinere came with cigarette-thin fries that were perfectly done (if you belong to the McDonald's camp of fries, you will love these) - Steak Tartare was very yummy - French Onion Soup - wonderfully thick and cheesy and interestingly on the sweeter side Add a few pieces of bread to soak up all the good juices, and we were on cloud nine by the end of the night. read more

Food was good, but service was awful. We were basically ignored by our waiter, had to wait a very long time even for water, we asked for bread after seeing many other tables being served bread upon being seated. He wordlessly set down a plate of bread and we then had to ask for butter from another server. Minutes after placing our order, I politely asked if I could also add another appetizer to our order, and the waiter's response was an exasperated/sarcastic "they're going to kill me now" (referring to the kitchen?), so I said it was ok and apologized, canceling the order. We ordered one round of drinks and were never asked if we wanted another. Also, I asked for medium rare and received a well-done burger. On the plus side, the beet salad was excellent. But overall, I would never go back because I kind of just felt like the waiter was rude or somehow resented us the whole time, as we were never acknowledged or thanked or checked in on. It was unfortunate for what was a big splurge and was supposed to be a special evening for an anniversary dinner. read more

Unfortunately the tables here have too large of gaps for the glasses and we had 3 drinks spill with little care from the staff. While the escargot, fries, and croquettes were good, everything else was lackluster or bad including the mussels, risotto, brussel sprouts, skate fish and lamb couscous. read more

Outside of loving the restaurant because we're locals in the neighborhood, we also held our rehearsal dinner there for our wedding and they crushed it!! Communication was phenomenal, the staff was so caring towards all our friends and families, the drinks and food were fantastic (as per usual) and it made the night so easy and carefree! Will 1000% schedule another event there in the future. Whether you're just looking for brunch, an evening cocktail, or a private event, Chez Moi can (and does) handle it all. Thank you to Paul, Sam, and the entire staff! read more

My go to place. Love the tuna tartare. Make sure they give you the bread. And I love the peppercorn sauce for the steak. Only issue is that they have a problem with you ordering your appetizers and entree separately. read more

We came here for dinner on Mother's Day. Our reservation was for 6:30, but we arrived at 6:20. Once the server saw us, she said "oh you have a stroller?" In a condescending tone. "That's going to be a problem, because where we have you is too narrow." Then she walked away and we just thought, ok so what are we supposed to do? The manager, a nice gentleman comes and sits us at a table near the entrance. We sit there for about 20 mins and no one has greeted us or offered us water. Finally, the server that made the stroller comment comes and takes down our appetizer order. Another 30- 40 mins go by and we haven't gotten anything. The server finally comes with the wrong appetizer. So we wait another 15 mins and our correct appetizer order comes. Overall, the service was extremely slow but the food was great. The manager was awesome and made up for it, but I'm not sure if we'll be back. read more

Pretty good French food. We were able to get seated on a Monday night at 8PM without a reservation. We ordered escargot ($13) and pate ($11) to start. For entree, I got the duck breast ($28). The escargot doesn't come with shell but was very tender. Ask for some house bread to soak up the tasty oil and brine. I also really like the duck breast - a texture that almost melts in your mouth. Docked a star for the pate (which was subpar; I wouldn't recommend) and the pricing. It's pretty standard for the area, but entrees are in the mid-$20s and are pretty small. read more

Great food and drinks -- we had the fish special (white fish, shrimp, and scallops with kale potatoes and a saffron broth), Brussels sprouts, the Juliet (or maybe it was the Julius?) drink, and the chocolate mousse) Brussels sprouts - skip this. They were super charred and after the fist two bites the Parmesan forms a crust that makes it awkward to eat. Fish special - very delicious flavor and the fish was great but the scallop and shrimp were a little over cooked. The kale soaked up the broth flavor nicely. Mousse - delicious, would get again. The drink - it was delicious and refreshing, a tad sweet per my boyfriend friend but I think it was well balanced read more

Highly recommend this restaurant. I had the most outstanding asparagus soup and Bronzino with clams that will be forever remembered. My husband also had the bronzino which he also devoured but started with an incredible beet & apple salad. Our son had risotto that he loved along with French onion soup & our grandson had mussels in white wine which we all helped him eat. The chocolate mousse was shared by all. So incredibly yummy. Our waiter was an enormous help explaining the menu and recommending what he thought we would enjoy. He was right on all counts. If you're on Atlantic Avenue make sure you make this a destination. We'll worth the trip read more

Chez Moi is one of our neighborhood staples, but this was my first time coming here for brunch. The french toast was soooo good! I loved the strawberry topping, it wasn't too sweet and went great with the whipped cream (lemon-y and delicious). I was so happy with my eggs Benedict - perfect Hollandaise sauce, great potatoes, overall amazing option! Bottomless La Colombe coffee for brunch is always a great idea too :) read more

Good food and good service and the interior was beautiful. Highly recommend for your anniversary dinner or something.

The (market fish special) Branzino with fingerlings and kale!!! WOW. Skin was crisp and the white wine sauce was incredible. Order bread to soak up the broth! The spicy tequila cocktail and bourbon melon cocktail (forgot the names sorry) were great...balanced, not too sweet. Tarte tatin for dessert: YUM, the apples melted in my mouth. Look forward to returning. Would like to try the mussels next! read more

Came here for brunch a few years ago and it was pretty good. so thought we would try again, for lunch, did not disappoint. We ordered onion soup that was so fabulous. Wine selection was superb. Pate was very tasty. Chicken sandwich was crunchy and tasty. Enjoyed the afternoon and service was excellent. One of my favorite places in Brooklyn. read more

Pleasant spot, but I wouldn't go here for the food. The quiche did not possess the right consistency at all. Very loose texture and almost unsettling to eat. Coffee was watery, and refills were slow in coming. Otherwise genial decor and ambiance. read more

I keep coming back here-because the food is so good : ). My husband and I have tried a lot of the menu and have thoroughly enjoyed every meal. Great place for a date night or a cozy reunion with a friend or two. Not sure about very large groups, especially without a reservation, as the place is a little small. Which brings me to why I took off a star. It can be very loud and tight here, waiters are crawling over the chairs and each other to take and deliver orders and I just don't enjoy that aspect as much. Also, maybe because of this?, wait service tends to be a bit insincere and even rude at times. read more

We are visiting from Reno, NV and were told about Chez Moi. We had a delightful time. The food was outstanding as well as the service. I am always astounded at places such as this. A wonderful gem with a little hidden attitude. Make sure you find the secret entrance to the amazing craft cocktail bar downstairs. Very fun to look for and find. Craft cocktails can be a little stuffy however on this night it was not busy and our cocktail virtuoso delighted us in drink and conversation. Go take a look and enjoy good food and wondrous decor. read more

I'm on the fence about this place between 3 and 4 stars. We shared a brunch at the bar with the chicken sandwich and fries. The fries were some of the cleanest and best I've ever had. So good in fact, I had almost finished them by the time the ketchup arrived that I asked for 10 minutes ago. I like it when the order comes, already cut and split on separate plates when you tell them you're sharing. The chicken sandwich was pretty darn good too, but the portion was just ok. (even if whole) I love the ambiance but wife isn't a fan of French wooden bar stools. I say they cradle my butt nicely. To each his/her own. It's those drink prices that kick the bill into high gear. If you're having 2 drinks each, and sharing, you're still looking at $80+ tip. In the world of sustainability, I don't find that sustainable. If you're rolling in it...or bypass the booze, I'd recommend it in a minute. Otherwise, keep strolling Atlantic avenue. read more

I live in DC and was hosting a friend from Brazil to a 3-day weekend in NYC. A good friend and long-time Brooklyn resident suggested that the 3 of us brunch at Chez Moi. What a great spot! This place was pretty incredible. I went here back in February with some friends; they had the bubbles for outdoor seating amid COVID which was really nice -- it was a really blustery night and there was no space heater but we stayed surprisingly warm, and definitely insulated from the wind. My friends and I had octopus as an appetizer and the sauce it came with was SOMETHING ELSE. So good. I had mussels and fries for dinner and that was really satisfying. Definitely want to visit again this summer. read more
