I made a reservation for dinner for four people on a Sunday night, and we were immediately seated when we arrived. Our server was very attentive without hovering around. Great ambiance with very cozy-feeling lighting. I was expecting small portions, but I was pleasantly surprised to find the portions to be the perfect amount for me. Run-through of the food: Escargots - Oh. My. God. The garlic parsley butter. The snail itself was soft, buttery deliciousness. All I can say is, Mmmm... Wild Skate Fish - The fish was a little too salty for my taste, but mixing it with the mashed potato balanced it out. I really enjoyed the fava beans and artichoke, and I'm usually not into beans of any kind. Seared Duck Breast - This is a must order. The meat is so tender and juicy, and the orange sauce paired really well with the duck flavor. Truffle Oil Risotto Special of the Day - This was good, but a couple of bites were enough for me. It was rich and creamy. Creme Brûlée - Smooth as silk with a nice burnt sugared top. Île Flottante - One of the most amazing desserts I've ever had. It was like I had a cloud on my tongue, and the milky sauce was not overly sweet. This was perfection. read more

Just a lovely Mother's Day brunch venue. My daughter had lobster eggs Benedict, which had lots of rich flavor, and a beautiful presentation. I loved my Croque Monsieur, a lovely, crunchy grilled cheese with bechamel and gruyere. We saw in a window, enjoying the fresh upbeat ambiance with a view through white lace cafe curtains, and had fine service, even on this very busy day. A new favorite! read more

Had a fantastic Sunday brunch here. We got the Croque Madame and Eggs Benedict, both delicious. Great food, great service, 100% recommeowd

I was in the area mid-week and heard they had $1 oysters so had to stop by. Had a dozen and they were very good and so ordered another dozen. I then decided to just have dinner there so ordered mussels and fries with the marniere - very tasty broth and quite a bit of garlic which I love. The place definitely has a french bistro look and feel to it with french speaking staff. A little bit of Paris in Brooklyn. Will be back. read more

This is my 2nd time leaving this kind of review for this restaurant. Why? I am still quite hurt from my last experience at Chez Moi. Chez Moi had become my go-to place for a good French meal and cocktails over conversation with friends. I would visit the restaurant easily one to three times a month since I discovered the place back in 2021. Back in August 2023, my brother-friend and I invited a very, dear brother friend of ours to join us for dinner at Chez Moi. Needless to say, the dinner at Chez Moi was a reunion for the three of us, having not seen our mutual friend since before COVID. The evening started off kind of peculiarly. The waitress took a 'tude with me. I am a pristine, petite Black woman of a certain age now who has come to know her charm. Comfortably accompanied by two very tall, robust just as confident Black men, I took extra care to be warm. In other words, I am not unfamiliar with ill-conceived social perceptions, and have come to know when to go into high-tolerance mode. As the evening progresses, there are other hints at 'tude, but we carried on, enjoyed our conversation over a pleasant meal, ate desserts, paid our bill tipped the waitress. Then suddenly as we're in the last stretch of convo, and before we could gather our things, figure out our next move, this same waitress asked us to leave, rushed us away from the table, hurriedly escorted us to the door, claiming the hostess demanded she do so because the table was needed. Yes, there were open tables still available around us. Ok, these open tables could have been reserved. But, why not escort us to the bar? Here's another idea: at least the tip received from each of us could have been returned, if she were so apologetic. All this to say, my last experience at Chez Moi, because indeed it was my last, was absolutely, utterly humiliating! read more

A great atmosphere with delicious food and solicitous staff. Highly recommend for get togethers with friends or the parents, brunch is lively and weeknight dinners can be quiet and romantic. read more

Follow the rules, Jules! Chez Moi put me in my place and I kind of liked it. #1 - Do not attempt to open the bookcase painted door that leads to their speakeasy, Boudoir on your own. A man will tell you in a commanding tone that you mustn't without a manager letting you in. #2 - You cannot just sit anywhere once you are in the Boudoir. Another manager will come fetch you and lead you down a twisted staircase in candle light to your approved seating area. In our case, two stools by the wall. #3 - If you trip down the stairs, you must appear unfazed. Just as unfazed as the manager who tells you to watch your step. There are signs on the steps, but you cannot see them well in the candlelight. #4 - Do not try to order your own drinks at the bar even if no one approaches you to take an order. You must be a patient guest. The Intruder is a cocktail worth waiting for. #5 - Do not bring AMEX. That rule, we did not violate :-) #6 - If you attempt to molest the mini knight statue at the top of the twisted staircase the manager will crack a smile and do it too. #7 - Be decadent and order things your super FIT ass doesn't normally touch like the escargots swimming in minced garlic and butter or the NY Strip steak with peppercorn sauce to dip your pommes frites into. Dip the thick sourdough bread into everything! #8 - Don't (but do) get lost in conversation and be the last table to leave the restaurant. That's when the "if you want desert the kitchen is literally closing in two mins" warning will come on strong. Then, order desert! #9 - Do cab it home unless you think you can manage the twelve block walk to the train with a tummy at fill point and brain buzzing all kinds of happy chemicals. And finally... #10 - Do fast for two days in preparation for your next visit. I can't wait to be put in my place again...merci!!!! read more

I was really, really excited to try this place - but I walked out with mixed feelings about it. Food was ok, but not memorable nor truly french. Decor is understated, but clean - that's all I can say about it. There were so many hiccups in service, tho.... We really wanted to try their bacon-infused cocktail, but were told they just started infusing it and it will take couple hours. Seriously, don't you supposed to do all prep before restaurant opens? Ok, we got different drinks unread. Than oysters mixup happen - waitress did not seem to know which ones were which for reorder, which led to series of trips to the kitchen. When that was in progress, a guy walked by our table and dropped drink on the edge - not a word said. What? Did he leave it there to drink later??? All confused, we stare at it. Flagged that guy 5 min later - turned out, they did find that bacon infused drink. Ummm, ok. I really hope they get their service issues together - this has lots of potential. read more

It was my first stop on my foray into Brooklyn. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect. However, since I was with a Frenchman, we decided to do a French Saturday brunch. Glad we did! This place is inconspicuous from the outside and quite dark in the back, although still nice with some painted brick and old-world European charm. The coffee was great and constantly being refilled. 1. Grapefruit brulee: I'm not sure I've had one of these before, but it was amazing. LIghtly carmelized sugar on an open half-face of the grapefruit. Simple yet amazing. Dessert before the meal. 2. Grits with a side of bacon: Loved the corn grits. Creamy like polenta with a poached egg on top. When you break that egg, the yolk flows over the grits, making it just that much better. I added bacon to the top to perfect this dish. 3. Egg white frittata: Incredibly flavorful and satisfying, this dish came with potatoes and a side salad. Fresh, simple, awesome. 4. Profiteroles: The best I've ever had. Yes. Seriously. Three large pastries that are open and stuffed with large amounts of vanilla ice cream, drizzled in chocolate sauce, and finished with almond slices. Oh, and the whipped cream too. For those that have not had a profiterole, come here to have your first one. Orgasmic. read more

For some reason, Chez Moi is never our first choice when eating on Atlantic Ave., maybe because we go there so often and we want to try something new. But we seem to always end up there! The ambience is warm and inviting, the bar serves interesting cocktails, and the food is consistently on the mark. I always think of Angelina Jolie when ordering the Jolie cocktail at the bar. It has gin, Lillet Blanc, absinthe and lemon. Mmm, sounds like her! It's hard to choose an appetizer when everything on the menu looks delicious, but as a sucker for Escargot de Bourgogne, I usually end up with that. The garlic parsley butter is so tasty for dipping bread. Their Foie Gras Torchon is also good. Yum, I could have a heart attack just thinking about the appetizers LOL. As a duck lover, their seared duck breast entree is excellent. The last few times I've had their market fish of the day. The fish is always cooked just as I requested, and I always say I want it moist. My most recent fish was a fresh whole trout, boned. It's always cool to try a special menu item that the chef is excited about. You know they put extra care into that meal. The wines are good, and the wait staff is always warm, accepting and intent on making sure you are having a great time throughout the meal. No wonder we keep going back! read more

Great surprise when I discovered this little French restaurant. Me and my friend are real Parisian and very picky about food even more when it's French Food!! Everything was very good, food and cocktails were super tasty, the waitress was really nice and the manager even more. The restaurant is very cosy with little candle light at night and great music. So if you want to have a great time you should definitely stop by "Chez Moi" ;) read more

Great atmosphere and ambiance, I really liked that the bar is pretty spacious and they have those great big window/doors right in the of the restaurant by the bar, very airy, love that. I had to give them 4 starts because of their limited menu and they are not very vegetarian friendly and do not have many food options. They do have a great wine selection which I can appreciate. If you are looking for a great place to just chill with a friend with a great glass of wine and some starters they are awesome. read more

Tried to get seated during Sunday brunch service, and while the waiter acknowledged us, the host completely ignored our presence. Apparently his phone call was much more important. Ten minutes is my personal limit, and my tummy needed immediate attention, so we left to find another brunch option. This is one of my local go to restaurants, but I will be taking a break for a while. One of the most lowkey dope vibe in Cobble Hill yet. I love the ambiance, the wait staff and most importantly, the food. ESCARGOTS- Do it. Chez Moi knows how to do brunch! Brunch here is delicious- they really know how to make a delicious plate of Banana pancakes, Eggs Benedict, and a hamburger. The atmosphere is very lively and the service is friendly and attentive. It's fun to dine at the bar and watch the fresh drinks get made, including fresh juices. My timing was really lucky, as my table of 9 got seated within 10 minutes on a Sunday. I was anxious to find the best brunch spot, since everyone had come in from far distances. This place did not disappoint and after the meal, everyone thanked me for choosing such a great place! I'll definitely visit Chez Moi again! read more

My boyfriend and I wanted something low-key, no-frills, local but still romantic for our valentine's day dinner. Chez Moi was a good fit. It wasn't a huge pain to make reservations a week before, which is the biggest plus. Restaurant is cozy and has a lot of charm. Perfect for an intimate dinner. It sits maybe about 40 people. I didn't feel too cramped even though it was a full house. I loved our waitress. Even though she had a lot of tables to tend to, she remained calm, polite, and friendly. There was a prix-fixe menu option, but you can order from their regular menu as well. The prix-fixe was $49 and it came with: complimentary champagne, appetizer, entrée and dessert. I ordered: 1) Foie gras - delicious! I would recommend this for sure. Bread was perfectly toasty too 2) Scallops - fell short. They came out undercooked the first them and had to send them back. 3) Cheesecake Crepe - this is a crepe layered cake. The cheesecake/crepe combo didn't work for me. My boyfriend wanted some other dishes to diversify, but truth be told the prix-fixe menu had 75% of the things on their regular menu. Anyway, he ordered (these were not on the prix-fixe menu): 1) Escargot - very meaty. 2) Lobster Bisque - came out lukewarm which was disappointing, but flavor was decent. 3) Mussels - some were sandy, but most were pretty good. My favorite part was that everyone received a rose when the check came. That was a really nice touch for Valentine's Day. Overall, there were some hits and misses. I think I would still recommend this place for a date, maybe not a special occasion. read more

One of the nicest places on Atlantic Avenue (and there is a lot of competition, surprisingly!). French, and therefore not cheap. But well worth it. Try their delicious onion soup, and for the main entree either the pan roasted salmon or the lamb couscous. Delicious. And the bread is served warm. Accompany with a glass of Minervois wine, among other excellent choices. The only problem was the service: very slow. Likely because they are understaffed. Perhaps pay your waiters more? read more

We had a large party of about eight people, which I wouldn't recommend for this restaurant because the space inside is pretty small, but the staff did a really good job in making a table that fit us all. The waitress was very attentive and the service was quick. The food and wine was all delicious, and we paid under $70pp even though we got several appetizers, some got soup, everyone got an entree, and desserts/ coffees/ teas. Pretty impressive!! Definitely worth a try. read more

Lovely gem on Atlantic Avenue. I was transported back to France. I had the risotto special which was excellent. My friend had the Caesar salad with salmon that looked yummy. A hidden gem I walked into at Cobble Hill! The service and atmosphere was great and welcoming. Staff was attentive and kind. Their cocktails are really good. I wasn't that hungry, so I had steak frites and oysters! Delicious mixed oysters with fresh lemons. I'll be back to try more from their menu. read more

This place has the best French onion soup. I can eat this soup any time of year. Their steak frites are also incredible! So good I forgot to take a photo. Well, my wife simply adored this spot. Me? I'm a fan. I'd think this could be a 5-star contender if the escargot came in their shells, as I love to remove them with the spoon/grabber/mini fork tools. Chez Moi is truly a hidden gem! We dined over Valentine's Day weekend (off the recommendation of a friend) and it was likely one of the best meals we have had in an exceptionally long time. We had such an amazing time that I am almost afraid that my review will prevent me from ever securing a reservation on a Saturday night! The food was truly extraordinary! From the starters, to the main course to their fantastic cocktails and wine offerings, everything was superb. We enjoyed both dishes from their special's menu and regular dinner menu and everything we had was classic French and delicious. The ambiance was cozy and romantic, and the music was so enchanting that it was difficult to sit still all night. Francois and Michael were also the ultimate hosts and we truly cannot wait to go back to enjoy another marvelous evening in Brooklyn Heights. read more

Took a late evening stroll from manhattan across the Brooklyn bridge to Brooklyn heights. We walked around cobble hill and Carroll gardens for a bit and decided to look for a bite around 1030 on a Sunday. We walked back to the heights and right next to Floyd, one of my favorite Brooklyn dives, we came by a quaint French restaurant. At the time, a lot of restaurants closed their kitchen or, upon entry, we received the "your kidding right, I just want to go home" attitude from the staff. Not the case at chez, the food was great and the staff were friendly and inviting! We started with a bottle of pellegrino, the soup du jour which was a cauliflower soup and my girlfriend ordered the French onion. Both were exceptional. The cauliflower soup was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of black pepper. The French onion was great, not as salty or greasy as what you typically find. We ordered a bunch of apps to share; we order tuna tartar, grilled octopus salad, and mushroom croquettes. All were great! We split a order of muscles with white wine and shallots. Also awesome! The food was all great, the service was very friendly and there wasn't a hint of that "please get out because I just want to close" Sunday night attitude. We really enjoyed our meal which made a great day better! Thanks! read more

French food without the pretentiously tiny portion size or brouhaha in presentation and design - what more could I ask for? Chez Moi is immediately inviting and warm on a winter's night, illuminated by dim and intimate lighting, and featuring a small but comfy space for you to enjoy your food. My friend and I got here around 7:30 on a Saturday night so we ended up sitting at the bar, which was perfectly fine because for once, this was a bar with seating that was adequately spaced out so you weren't elbowing the people next to you every five seconds. I ordered the Jolie (absolutely delicious, a little sip of heaven) and the burger, which was excellently prepared and paired with a humongous pile of fries and a well-seasoned salad. The service was a little slow but it was a busy night and the bartender was doing His Best. The food here is really, really excellent and I'm excited to have found another gem in this excellent neighborhood. read more

A 3 is average right? It wasn't great, it wasn't terrible, it was fine. That is how I would describe my meal at Chez Moi. I ordered the steak and frites and my partner order the skate. What made each dish fine and not delicious? Everything was one noted, I guess you could say. The one note was salt and luckily it wasn't over salted but a second note of herbs or fat or something to make it more than a boring piece of steak would have really made this a 4+ star dining experience. My partners dish was more or less a piece of fish and potatoes. There was no magic on the plate. No wonderful layers of acid and fat and fun dancing together, just fish and mashed potatoes. I think simple dishes run the risk of being uncared for because they don't take much concentration to prepare, unfortunately, doing that, you end up with boring, uninspired food. read more

Wouldn't be a choice for brunch ever again. Chez Moi is simply a mediocre spot - their staff is careless and act as if they're the ones being served. Inattentive and like to take leisurely walks around the restaurant after being asked for simple things.. a straw.. more water... then lastly, as you could guess, asked for the manager who was also inconsiderate and rude after we waited over 45 minutes for our food. Three more tables were seated around us and were eating before our food ever even came out. This is the second time this has happened while eating here for brunch, yet the manager showed no concern. If you're hungry or even on a hangry level, please avoid this restaurant at all costs - there are SO many other brunch spots in the area that would be a much better option and are actually enjoyable. read more

First I got a water glass with a lipstick stain on it, then when I asked if they served oysters on the weekend (not particularly wanting brunch at that moment), learned that they ONLY serve them during the week days, and apparently only when they have the $1 offer. I suspect I'd have a totally different experience if I came for brunch. I opted for a cocktail instead and got the Chez Moi, which was excellent. But opted to venture elsewhere to cure my seafood craving. read more

We came here for brunch on an early Saturday afternoon. The setting was intimate and very cozy-- dim lights and tables that are somewhat tucked away in their own spaces so that conversation can easily be kept within your group. I had ordered the egg white fritatta with grapefruit juice and my boyfriend had the eggs benedict. The egg white fritatta was tasty and had pieces of asparagus inside. It was a bit on the salty side, but I ate it with the arugula side salad which had a bit of acid to it so it was perfectly balanced out. It also came with a generous helping of homefries which were crispy, hot, and delicious. They had some sort of Italian-herb seasoning on it which made them even more pleasant to eat. The grapefruit juice was fizzy and tasted a bit blunted... errr not as "grapefruity" as I'm used to. They may have added some sugar, which is disappointing because I'm a lover of regular, bitter grapefruit. My boyfriend's eggs benedict was delightful! The hollandaise sauce was flavorful and not too heavy; the whole dish worked well cohesively. I also heard the crispy chicken sandwich is delicious and popular, which one of our friends ordered. The service was attentive and fairly quick throughout our whole meal. Cute little place in BK to have brunch on a pretty spring day! read more

This place was delicious. Our server was Manolo and he was really nice to our table and helped us decide what to order and drink. For appetizers, our table had the foie gras, the tartare, and the beets. You cannot go wrong with any of these appetizers, they're all just so good. I highly recommend the beets+apple with goat cheese though, it was really fresh and the combination of beets with tart apple and the subtle flavors of soft goat cheese were so delicious. For the main course, I had the salmon (with ratatouille) cooked medium-rare and that was so good. It was flakey and tender and just pink enough on the inside. I have a sensitive stomach too and I did NOT get sick or food poisoning from the fish being cooked this way so you know they're doing it right. My boyfriend had the lamb and that was good too, not too gamey at all, and there was a LOT of risotto underneath it. My friend had the cod and that was really fantastic too, it was meatier than the salmon, but it was seasoned perfectly for me. It could be a little bland to some people though. Overall, I don't think you can go wrong with ordering anything from this place, it was so good. We went on a sunday evening around dinner time without reservations and they sat us immediatly too so that's a huge plus. read more
