I've been here a couple of times the wait staff is fast turnover. The food is good but nothing to write home about price to quality. Some servers don't really speak good English and therefore you have problems with your food order. Last time I was there they served appetizers and main course and the same time. I arrived before 9am, so there were no crowds waiting to be seated. Rather than take up a table, I decided to dine at the bar. As soon as I sat down, one of two bartenders acknowledged my presence and handed me a menu. The service from both bartenders were friendly and professional. Their signage for Irish coffee mentioning the brandy whipped cream did its job. Rather than ordering drip coffee, I ended getting that. I definitely enjoyed that whipped cream as it reminded me of Bailey's Irish Cream. As for breakfast, I chose the Kola-waffle Skillet due to the peppercorn sauce. While the size of the actual waffle was not large, it was still sufficient amount of food due to the embedded sausage. The peppercorn sauce tasted amazing with the poached egg and potatoes. I ended up finishing all of the potatoes, dipping them in the sauce. I miss the former counter-service setup; although the line would occasionally stretch toward the main dining area. The wait provided an opportunity to view the pastries in the display case. To remind customers there are available, they should consider placing a small display case by the bar. read more

My husband & I spent a wonderful evening in downtown Grapevine and it was made even better by our dinner at Chez Fabien. I've been coming here for years and it's always consistent. I usually do lunch and the menu has a ton of great options. French onion soup is one their most popular dishes. I love the mussels and frites. Sandwich and salad combos are fantastic. Nicely decorated with a dark interior. The wall tables are a little tight because you are right next to others. Our entrees looked beautiful! The Salmon was good. I just wish there was more sauce on it. I liked my broccoli cooked way more. Mashed potatoes were delicious. going to the Texas Tenors show today, found this restaurant on Yelp! It's not different from the Main Street Bistro and Bakery. We had the deluxe breakfast croissant, the lamb burger with a lettuce bun, which they supremely impressed with, and the kola-waffle. I regret that we did not get our server's name because he was amazing and super impressive. He knew his product and made excellent suggestions. It's a pretty small space, but they utilize it well and keep up with demand. It's super close to the theater so I'm sure this is something they deal with often. Been a while since we had the pleasure of dining for brunch at Chez Fabian, so I was very happy when our son and daughter-in-law suggested it. This is a small restaurant with a real bustling vibe for breakfast. Everything we had was absolutely excellent. My daughter-in-law had the smoked Atlantic salmon bagel and it was huge in terms of the generous salmon offering. Could not ask for any better if in a New York deli. My son went more lunch and the Peach & Burrata Salad. Outstanding, fresh and flavorful. My wife selected the Migas, which is what I had had on a couple other visits over the years. This is an excellent selection, and a huge serving. I decided on the Carnitas Huevos Rancheros and was very happy with the choice. Carnitas was tender and flavorful and the eggs cooked to over medium perfection. The sides that came with both of the meals were also plentiful and flavorful. Our nearly 2-year-old grandson had the kid's eggs and bacon, which the server graciously brought early. He enjoyed it, but preferred the offerings of potatoes and other items from my wife and my plates even more. If there was a Migas Jr. serving, they might just become a best seller for kids. For breakfast, this restaurant is a strong 5 stars. I rate it only 4 overall though, because of a few less than perfect lunches and dinners where food came out a bit cold and muscles underdone. read more

Unfortunately I got food poisoning from scallops I had last night at chez Fabien. The scallops smelled a little fishy when I was eating them but I thought it was due to the way they were prepared. Anyway please stay away. I also felt bad for the waiter for the nearby table because the guests were splitting checks and he was having a hard time figuring out who had what dish. They had a pretty impressive lunch menu with seven appetizers including French favorites like warm Brie and escargots, three soups including the old dependable French Onion with Gruyère Cheese and a house made puff pastry, seven salads, eleven sandwiches including more French favorites like Croque Monsieur and a French Dip, three quiches, six Bistro Favorites including Moules Frites (mussels) and a crepe, two entree bowls, and six burgers including the aptly named Frenchie (with Brie Cheese, Crispy Shallots, and Mushroom Duxelle). My wife ordered a Chicken Salad Sandwich with lettuce and tomatoes on Brioche Bread with house made chips ($12) and I went for the Chicken Tikka Masala Bowl ($16) with "Chunks of Grilled Marinated Chicken in special Garam Masala sauce, Ancient grain, Broccolini, Cilantro & Cashews". My lunch was FANTASTIC! Everything in the bowl was excellent and the only improvement opportunity I can suggest is that the portion was far too big for a lunch. I'd have rather seen them slim down the order size a little and shaved off some of that $16 price. The real issue we had at lunch was the terrible service. After our food was delivered, we never had the obligatory check-back and in fact never saw our server again until a very, very, very long wait for the bill. We saw other servers in our section refilling waters and iced teas, but that never happened to us. Oh well, c'est la vie. read more

You're better off at IHOP! Hostesses nicely greeted my gf and me and we thought this was going to be a great lunch/cocktail date on a recommendation from a friend. Positives: great atmosphere, the bar and seating areas are nice and the vibe is chill. Negatives: the bartender was initially stand off ish and seemed bothered, but did get nicer about halfway through. They seem to treat regular patrons like gold and are high school girl rude to others. Annoying. Anyway, I got sangria and requested lighter on the schnapps, don't like it too sweet, and it was still SO sweet. Like Welch's grape juice. Could hardly taste any wine. And 1 wedge of orange was the only fruit and that's what they call a sangria? Yikes... The food: it was barely okay. The flavor of the spinach and artichoke dip was good, but the spinach wasn't chopped and barely cooked leaving big honks of half wilted spinach stuck in your throat. It was a task to eat. The croque madame was disappointing, too. The bread was nothing special (felt like regular supermarket bagged bread) and the ham appeared to be thicker cut deli meat without the distinct flavor you'd expect from this French classic. Same with the caprese sandwich... the pesto tasted packaged and the mozzarella was basically flavorless slapped on a baguette with some really dull-tasting tomatoes. We also got a side of potatoes with the croque and they were definitely from a frozen bag. So lame. It's a letdown because the menu reads well, but you get it all and end up disappointed. Nothing about the food was unique. Felt like a lot of short cuts and no in-house signature flavors or effort. Not worth their menu prices. And certainly not the least bit French. read more

My husband and i were looking for a French restaurant after coming back from our visit to France so we opted to try out this restaurant for a Sunday brunch. Although the service we received was very pleasant, we were highly disappointed in the food. Everything tasted and looked like generic American food - nothing organic or local. Presentation was very basic which is why I didn't even take any photos of my food. The website highly oversells the experience in my opinion. I should have known something was off when I first received my cappuccino in a huge cup that was like a bowl of milk for cereal. My husband ordered a cinnamon role which he was not impressed with at all either. After we ate our breakfast, we both felt very sluggish. The togo cafe next door looked cute but after our dining experience we were not motivated to purchase any other pastries.
