Not the worst Vietnamese food I've had, but pretty darn close to it. After a chilly evening in Paris, my craving for pho led me to Chez Cay. Offering Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai cuisine, Chez Cay unfortunately fell short of delivering authentic Vietnamese flavors. I ordered the Beef Pho, and found the broth lacking in depth and richness, while the noodles resembled more of pad thai than traditional pho noodles. Instead of fresh thinly sliced flank pieces, you'll find bits of brisket, meatballs, and maybe what resembles thinly sliced flank?? Attempting to salvage the dish, I reached for sriracha and hoisin sauce, only to discover they weren't available. read more

Stopped by on our last evening in Paris looking for something a little different to eat. Chez Cay is very small with seating for around 20. The service is friendly and efficient. The menu is quite large and there is a menu in English. To start we ordered chicken dumplings that were good. I ordered Pho and my husband the noodles with chicken. The soup broth was tasty after adding all the herbs and sauces. My issue was with the beef slices. Some were tough with gristle that made it impossible to chew, others had an "off taste" and others were perfectly fine. The noodles were perfect! My husband enjoyed his dish but had a hard time locating many bits of chicken. I would not return as there are many other Vietnamese offerings in the area. read more

Found this spot after not being able to find another Asian restaurant. We were hesitant at first after hearing another patron did not enjoy their meal as we were in-store. We still gave it a shot given that we could have different tastes. The beef pho is definitely less traditional, but also you must keep in mind it is a fusion spot in Paris. The broth was simple and got the job done. The star of the show was the rice dish which was beef and tomato rice with a fried egg! It was very flavorful and reminded me of a similar dish I've enjoyed. I would definitely recommend it if you enjoy Vietnamese/Chinese rice dishes. The service did the best they could to accommodate English speakers, their menu comes with English subtexts as well. Might have to look up some dishes if you're unfamiliar with the technical term while you're there! Show some grace with small businesses. read more

I was in Europe for about a week and started to really miss Asian food. So... I came here and it was exactly what I needed. The food is Chinese and Vietnamese with a very affordable price point. Our last meal in Paris, and this hybrid restaurant of Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai is hitting the spot. It's practical and affordable, and it's super casual with convenient hours. I like my Pho - it's a standard beef broth with some meatballs and meat, but it is definitely pho. The Bo Bun has a nice vermicelli with egg rolls and chicken, and I don't know what it is that makes fish sauce go so well with this combination, but I'm not about to question a good thing. I think it's more Chinese than Vietnamese. The ambiance is basic. Staff very friendly and spoke good English. And then there is the FOOD..... We shared everything. The serving size was big enough to share. We had the Fish Ball soup. It was divine. Nêms au Poulet wrapped in lettuce were outstanding. Decent food. It was memorable enough that I remember after coming here three months ago. It is located near the Picasso Museum and the modern art museum. The food was decent. Compared to LA standards, it is a little below par but yummy enough. We got the chicken with broken rice. It was affordable too. While we waited for our order, we went to the perfume/make up store nearby. I highly recommend that you wander over there while you wait for your take out. Then, I recommend you take your food to the Picasso Museum's terrace to eat. It is lovely there. read more

If you're looking for Chinese food, this place is for you. However, I wouldn't come here for their Thai or Vietnamese dishes. That being said, I enjoyed the Shrimp Noodle dish I was served. It was tasty after adding some spice and black vinegar for heat and tang. My wife had the Pad Thai and was sadly disappointed with the type of noodles, which was a thick pan-fry noodle you would find in chow fun - in fact, she said the dish tasted just like chow fun. Exactly what we needed after six days in Paris. Don't get me wrong, all of the food in Paris is fantastique, but hubby and I usually go to pho once a week and we cook Asian at least once a week. So these flavors were the ones were longing for. We both ate the large pho. The noodles were perfectly slippery. Their garnish plate was nice and included extras we rarely see in Oregon pho places; mint and rau ram, and a premade Sate dip. Kudos for having chili oil right on the table and vinegar. The only part missing were a few slices of jalapeño...truth be told, don't think I've seen much jalapeño even available at the stores/markets. The broth was rich and flavorful and all the meats were in nice bite size pieces. There's definitely a Chinese undertone, which made it even more interesting. Good service, our server spoke a good amount of English. We were packed pretty tight in the small dining room, the server had to move our table in order for us to get into the booth. The dumplings were VERY good, I could have eaten a portion of 12 as my entree. I had the shrimp dumpling soup, which was good, but I think that the broth needed some more time to develop the flavors. The rest of my party had the beef soup, which had delicious beef, but again, needed a little bit of help in the broth department. Overall, good experience. Their Beef Fried noodles is super closed to the taste of Hongkong or Cantonese (I am an Cantonese). We are here in Paris for a month and have been here 4 times. Food is very authentic Chinese and for me, it's comfort food. Their soup noodles and wantons are very good. The shrimp in what they call raviolis here are big, and overall very tasty. It is a great inexpensive meal that hits the spot every time.
