    Duck w/mushrooms & amazing sauce
    William A.

Amazing! We had duck & an incredible dip with mushroom that was one of the best meals we have had in a week here, and that's saying a lot. With so many incredible restaurants in the city, this place is tucked just behind a wedding dress courtier around the corner from garbage of the likes of McDonalds, Burger King, and Popeyes. Pwuah! Do yourself a favor and drop the couple extra euro for a meal you want forget!

You can tell it is an authentic French cuisine from the French only menu written on the board. Google didn't help much since they changed the menu every week. The dishes were presented nicely. The tastes were rich and maybe a bit complicated, lol. The waiter also asked us to finish the soup at the end. It is a very unique French experience.

Country-style home French cooking. Friendly, quick service and a great atmosphere. We showed at 9 on a Thursday niggt and their whole terrace was full. They brought a table from inside and made an extra spot for us! They bring you the huge restaurant menu on a huge block and the wine list on a lined little notebook in what looks like my grandmas cursive handwriting of old family recipes. We had the sardine salad, the purée fish soup, the beef with little vegetables, and the chicken with mashed potatoes. For 32 euros, you also get a cheese course and a dessert. The cheese course is about 7 different, tasty cheeses. You'll see the board get passed around the restaurant because there's no way a couple could finish that. For dessert we had the chocolate mousse and then the Paris-Brest "chez Michel" which was the BEST. If you're looking for aunthentic home French cooking and don't have une grand-mère a France, I highly recommend this place for dinner!

If you have ever wondered what it was like to dine in 1960s Paris, then head here. Not a single decorative element in this low-key bistro has been touched in several decades. So retro is the vibe that I half expected Louis de Funès to walk out of the bathroom in a pale blue cowboy getup (get the reference??). On a frigid winter evening the über traditional menu of old-school classics was just the remedy to warm our weary bones. Perhaps the best prix/fixe menu in the city, the 32e entree/plat/cheese+dessert is so hearty and copious that you can certainly skip breakfast the next morning. Since we weren't THAT hungry, the waiter let us choose the 28e entree/plat/cheese or dessert menu that's usually only offered during lunch. I ordered a wonderful rillettes de saint jacques appetizer, followed by a filet de dorade grise and then got to the best part of the meal: the cheese platter! They literally plunk down a platter of a dozen or so cheeses and let you sit with it for a while so that you can try (and re-try, in my case with the fabulous Epoisse) whatever you want. Overall the experience was delicious, but a bit bizarre since you really do feel like you've walked into a rather austere, music-less, family-run bistro in some town in the countryside, like thirty years ago, not like you're dining in 21st century Paris.

Sometimes it's for the best when plans don't work out. So we actually had plans to go to another restaurant but forgot to check if it was open on a Sunday. As it was closed we quickly Googled the nearest restaurants around Paris Gare Du Nord after stepping off the Eurostar with the best reviews and this is what lead us to discover the fantastic Chez Casimir which turns out to be our favourite restaurant in the whole three days we were at Paris. Outside it doesn't look like much which is great as it means it's not only aimed for tourists. So on weekend mornings they served brunch which includes unlimited helpings of the cold buffet section (excluding oysters which are charged €1 each) and then a three course meal before helping yourself at the self service dessert buffet section. Our French was poor and their English was basic but the staff were still so friendly in trying to help us understand the concept. The three course dishes that were cooked to order seems to be set and they explained to us that it was going to start with soup, omelette and then pork. We were in a spontaneous mood and hungry so we were glad not to have to fuss over what to order and just have someone plan it out for us. Oh and we're so glad they did. The cold buffet section was splendid. They had everything from quiche, cured salmon chunks, mustard potato salad, octopus salad, slice yourself cured meats, pork terrine, fresh bread and more. We could have just filled ourselves with that and would have been happily satisfied. I reached out for two oysters and they were deliciously plump and juicy. In fact all the buffet counter food were delicious. I didn't recall a single thing I didn't like. I don't even usually like mustard but as I believe it was home made rather than bought I found it extra creamy than usual, with far more flavour than I am used to and it went very well with the shredded potato. Everything tasted home made fresh and refreshing being quite light and greaseless. Our soup soon followed, vegetable soup served in a little glass cup. It was thick, warm and satisfying. Nothing too fancy but enough to clear your palate for the next dish, the mushroom omelette. And this was no ordinary omelette. Now we have both eaten a lot of omelette in our lives and even went round Paris looking for more omelettes like this but nothing has ever tasty so silky, creamy and soft like this. The way it was made so thin, almost translucent and melted into our mouth made us wonder how it held so well in the beginning, incasing beautiful juicy mushrooms inside. Still keeping us in awe was the pork and potato casserole. It is amazing how we could taste every ingredient equally to one another in this dish, not just the textures but the burst of flavours fighting to come through. The pork had been marinated in some lovely herbs, tenderised perfectly and kept its juices. The potatoes were fluffy and fragrant, soaking up the lovely flavours of the pork too. Being already stuffed we found the inner strength and willpower, fighting our tummies and mind to sample the buffet dessert section. It was just as much as the starters ranging from butter thins, shortbread cookies, tiramisu, rice pudding, chocolate fudge cake, blueberry cheesecake, custard pudding, milk pudding and crepes. Of course if you want to reduce the guilt there's fresh fruits such as lychees too. Unbelievable. Everything was fantastic in terms of atmosphere, service and of course the food. Most importantly it was memorable as we are still dreaming about that omelette till this day (it's been two months)

    Course #3 (of 4)!

Authentic excellence!! This hideout was easily the BEST find of our trip. Tucked away off the beaten path, Chef Casimirs provides the local flare and flavor we were looking for! The menu is listed on a chalkboard, which the fabulous waiters prop-up at your table. Items include 6-8 options from each of the four courses on the daily fixed menu. Mind you, one of these courses is a cheese platter that would've made King Louie (take your pick) jealous!! Honestly, not much to find wrong with this place. From the food to the wait staff to the patrons, this place is as pleasant as any tourist could ask for. Mind you, you'll be stuffed and fully satiated at nights end, so don't plan on making this a stop along the way...it's an event in itself!

The service we experienced was exactly what you want... our server had plenty of suggestions based on the offerings of the day. The service was attentive and responsive... not much more than you could ask for. I had the duck breast being offered... it was served alongside crispy potatoes, green beans, and a salad. Adding in the onion soup and a glass of wine... it quickly became a King's dinner at a very reasonable price. I would be more than happy to eat here again and look forward to exploring the rest of the menu offering many local and classic French options.

Like others have said, it's super small inside, so you'll get to know your neighbors really well. But your attention will be more focused on the food they bring out. I had the lamb with thyme sauce and my wife had the confit duck leg. Don't be afraid to pick the sauce of the day over the regular honey sauce. The sauce of the day on the day we went was a blackberry sauce which was crazy good. With a bottle of wine at 24 euros and both entrees under 20 euros, you couldn't really beat a meal of that quality in many places around Paris for that price. It was only after I ate at Le Potager did I see it had a bunch of great reviews on Yelp. It's definitely earned all those stars.

Making a reservation isn't hard but you do need to email them and there's no online booking system. You also have to confirm again 1-2 days before. I understand they are small with a limited number of tables so that's fair and it seemed like everyone showed up even though they don't require a deposit. On a Friday night, it didn't appear there was much chance or walking in although there were like 2 open seats at what would have been a shared table. The menu is small and includes some typical French starters, steaks, 3 non steak entrees, cheeses, and dessert. All steaks come with potatoes, 3 sauces, salad. Service was a highlight. The waiter was personable and funny, had solid recommendations, and made sure leftovers were taken home. Also had a solid wine recommendation after asking some questions. They probably get a lot of people who don't speak French and they had no problem speaking English. The food- ordered a ribeye medium rare. The steak was so so charred on the outside and it almost ruined the whole thing. I really wish they would have charred it way less especially when it was ordered medium rare. There is seared and then there is burnt; this was sadly the latter. The steak itself was fine, honestly nowhere near the best meat I have had but the price is quite reasonable for how much you get. I would say the steak was maybe 6/10 for me, largely due to the cooking. The fries were phenomenal. Definitely a highlight and really tasty and with a great texture. Salad was good, pretty typical. I wanted to like the sauces more but found them just okay. The best by far for me was the blue cheese sauce but even this one I thought the flavors could have popped a little more. Atmosphere was fun, there were a few bigger groups (6-8 which is the biggest they accommodate) but it never got unreasonably loud. Overall I wanted to love it but was a bit disappointed even though the service and fries were both great.

It's a tiny restaurant, so if you're a party of two, you might share a table with others, but they have spacers so you don't feel like you're eating together. Reservations were easy to make. You email in your requested sitting and someone will get back to you shortly. We were able to get in a little ahead of schedule and start the adventure. Wines were reasonably priced and they had a good variety of cocktails. We hadn't had French onion soup on our trip, so we ordered it as an appetizer. Sometimes it can get a little salty, but these were very well blended. Sacree Fleur seems to be known for their steak and frites, so we ordered the steak for two. Steak comes out on a sizzling platter. You can turn the pieces over to keep cooking until your preferred temperature. It was quite succulent and the fries were well prepared. There are two dipping sauces and some salt to season your meal. We hadn't a great time and way too much food :)

We were so looking forward to the frog legs, onion soup and other delicacies pictured. We got there and the sign was just as it was with the same name -- Au Pied du Sacre Coeur. We should've noticed something was wrong when no one was inside. When the waiter (lone person working along with cook) gave us the menu, my wife and I stared at each other completely confused. The menu looked nothing like the ones on this website and featured Italian food items, like spaghetti, arroz con pollo or mozarella. I asked him about frog legs or the onion soup. He looked confused and just said no. Out of respect for him, we just ordered the charcuterie, which featured stale bread and a few slices of meat taken from my local grocery store in the U.S. Also -- they claimed to not accept any international credit cards.
