Chez Alcatraz is the Jaws themed bar located in the San Francisco Area of the park in Universal Orlando. Recently, it has been refurbished and moved back slightly as well as seeming to be larger. It is extremely popular so it would not surprise me if they did make it larger. This is just a walk up bar, no seating at the bar, it is all grab and go. They only serve wine, beer and mixed drinks, but they have a pretty stacked bar. They do not sell food, however, there are a few food options located very close by. The last time we were here, there were a few tables near the water and around the bar, but I'm not sure if they are permanent. This bar usually has a long line and waits. It's not super hidden and their drinks are good, so I don't really understand why it gets so long. The line also moves slow. I think the main reason for this is because this is home to the famous Ocean Attack cocktail: Don Q coconut rum, blue curaçao, pineapple juice, Sprite, dash of grenadine. When you order this, it comes with a little show, the bartender gets into the drink with a shark hand. Everyone is ordering it and it takes longer because they have to do their little skit with each drink. My wife likes this drink, she says its tasty but incredibly dangerous. She says you cannot really taste the alcohol but it hits you later. For me personally, it is a little sweet with the coconut rum, pineapple juice and sprite. It is not my favorite, I probably wouldn't really order one for myself. I prefer to just get beer when we stop here. As I mentioned they do have a full bar, so if you do not like one of their specialty drinks, you can order your own or your favorite. As I mentioned the line can get long, but I personally do like this stop. We do not always stop here, if the line is really long, we skip it and head somewhere else. They do have really good cocktails, great theming with Jaws and its another bar. My wide and I like to do crawls when we are in the park so if you are doing that, I would say add it to your list. My only complaint is there are no seats at the bar and they don't serve any food. I think some really great themed snacks would go perfect here. Currently they are celebrating Jaws 50th, so there is a food booth very close by serving food options and the bar has a special themed cup you can purchase for $4 extra. This is a bar and only serves drinks. We were here during the recent pass holder appreciation night and the lines were really long just past 7pm. The bartenders seem really slow but are friendly. They had a drink that had a gummy shark in it based on the old Jaws area of the park. read more

I don't know if I would consider this bar "hidden," but it definitely doesn't take more than five minutes to get a mixed drink here. This is our go-to place whenever we visit Universal. Drinks are strong and affordable. They come in big cups too! The bar is limited, but it's an easy place to get your drink fix. During holidays (like Mardi Gra and Christmas), they have seasonal drinks. What makes this place unique is that it's located in the same area where Jaws used to be. They still have Jaws hanging upside down where you can get your photo taken. The bar also has specialty Jaw drinks that can only be served here. read more

Came here on my last visit to Universal. Ordered the Ocean Attack. The bartender does a little show for you when adding the last ingredient. It's hilarious. The only downside is the price of the drinks. It was like $25 for 2 drinks. The drinks were decent though. read more

Nice little hidden gem bar that also offers a small selection of food items like nachos. This bar is located right by where the big Great White Shark hangs for photo opportunities and as you sit and enjoy your cocktail and/or snack you will be surprised to see just how many people still take pics with the shark. This bar has a selection of beer, wine and liquor....I personally like to take a break from the heat and crowds here and enjoy a double vodka with club soda & a lime for some refreshment and relaxation. Price point is definitely too expensive but all theme parks are so do not order alchohol without expecting this. One double vodka club soda and one Jameson and Gingerale for my boyfriend and I was around $34 before tip. read more

Ordered the margarita flat bread. I can say it was pretty average and small for a $13 small pie and when I mean small, it's equivalent to a slice of pizza from a normal pie. We also ordered a bud light and wanted to keep our bottle for souvenir but the cashier threw out our cap and wouldn't let us bring it home as it was a policy in the park. Great little bar near the water next to The Jaws picture area. Open seating for bigger groups and bar seating. FYI you don't have to get in line just walk up to the bar and tell them what you want. They also serve food here but it does take a while because they have a tiny kitchen in the back. We didn't order any food but it did smell really good . They have a great variety of signature drinks here, if you order the Ocean attack the bar tender does a cute performance when adding the grenadine lol loved it . They also have a good variety of can drinks 12-16 oz and if none of that sounds good they also have a full bar and you can order any drink your heart desires. This bar is only 1 drink per ID so if your with someone make sure they are with you when you order. read more

Chez Alcatraz is a nice little spot tucked away inside Universal Studios and perfect place to get a alcoholic beverage and get a break from the crowds. Its located right by where they have Jaws Hanging. The prices are a little pricey but need to take in account your in a theme park . read more

This is the only full service outdoor bar inside the theme parks at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. It is located in the San Francisco area of USF. Although it has limited hours of service, when it is open it's a fun place to stop by. It offers all your usual cocktails and beers. It's also a fun spot for people-watching. If Finnegan's is a bit too busy, this a good alternative. read more

While at Universal I Googled "Best Drinks at Universal" and Chez Alcatraz's Frozen Mojito came up on multiple lists, so naturally I had to try it! Google certainly did not lead me astray! It was wonderful and refreshing on a day where it was 90+ degrees outside and the sun was blaring down. At $9.50, it didn't break the bank (for amusement park prices) and we got to keep the plastic souvenir glasses. I've never actually had a frozen mojito before, so I've got nothing to compare it to, but it sure hit the spot and I'd definitely come back again! Great little spot to hide away from the sun and the crowds and get a nice snack and delicious drink. It is themed after the old Jaws area, with the hanging Jaws photo op right next door. Located across from the London facade of the Diagonal Alley/Wizarding World of Harry Potter, this is just a small outdoor bar, but it has seats! We stopped in on a Friday during Spring break and ordered the Margherita Flatbread, the Bruce (margarita) and the Shark Attack (fruity drink). Drinks were delicious, bartender was friendly and sociable, and Flatbread hit the spot. Our total was about $30, but worth it. I'm sort of hesitant to blab about this find, as I'll definitely be making it a required stop whenever I'm at Universal. read more

Always love coming to this bar, especially when Nolan is working. He remembers every customer even after one visit! Everyone here treats you like a regular, however my only big complaint (reason I'm not rating 5 stars) is the bartenders poor job with stating upcharge. I asked about adding an extra shot to my shark attack, and the bartender leaned in seemingly implying that I could get the extra shot for cheap, or he implied it was on the house. The whole interaction made it seem like he wasn't allowed to provide extra shots however he would make an exception. 2 drinks, he says "$47". What?? We had to double check.. How in the hell is it $11 for an extra shot but it's $12-13 to order the same double shot drink?? Had we known, we would've tried to buy 2 shark attacks for 4 shots. Love the staff.. but would've appreciated a warning about the price for the extra shot. Even Fat Tuesday extra-shots are about $4, and they always confirm the price so others are aware. Worth mentioning, we were shocked about the price and had to ask multiple times to confirm the final price. It seemed like there was no awareness from the bartender, and it almost felt like the upcharge was to take advantage. We generally do not ever complain or ask for refunds/contest charges, so unfortunately we just walked away paying $47+tip. Again, love the staff but this particular encounter was offensive, sneaky, and the ultimate betrayal. Understandably the theme parks upcharge to make money, but at least a confirmation or price mention would've been nice. We couldn't even enjoy the drinks knowing how much we paid for them for how little we were getting. read more

Visited 05/06/17: This is a small outdoor restaurant located in the San Francisco area of Universal across from what is soon to be the Fast & Furious ride. What a nice spot to sit have a bite to eat and a drink. There is bench seating with an umbrella or you can sit at the bar. When we visited one person could sit while the other stood in line. I believe it was that way because there was only one person tending the bar. My husband had a Long Island ice tea and I had a strawberry daiquiri, both were delicious. I honestly can't remember the food choices but for the park food, it was pretty tasty. read more

Chez Alcatraz is a small, outdoor bar located in the San Francisco area of Universal Studios across from what used to be Disaster Studios and the soon to be Fast and the Furious ride. There's no seating directly at the bar but there are plenty of picnic tables and high tops surrounding it. The staff here is always friendly! The best is during Halloween horror nights most people are at Finnegans down the way so you'll have shorter lines here. They serve Blue Moon and a few other beers but they really excel when it comes to mixed drinks. You can get souvenir cups here and it's a great spot to people watch since it's next to a scare zone. read more

The bartender here was great! A friendly guy. He suggested I get a double and I didn't object. I was in shock when I got the check and paid almost $60 for two drinks and two beers. I understand it's the theme parks but I wish I had better warning to the serious upcharge for the drinks I got (I asked for house liquor).
