    Watermelon dole whip margarita
    Aubrie H.

While visiting the Polynesian Resort we were looking for a place to grab a drink and sit outside. Everything at Trader Sams was full so we decided to head over to the Barefoot Pool Bar. There is a window where you can order drinks without entering the pool deck. They have multiple mixed drinks and beers available. I opted for the Watermelon dole whip margarita which was delicious. Flavors paired well together and wasn't too sweet.

Meh, it'll do. I suppose coming from years of experiencing the poolside bars at the mega-resorts in Vegas, I have high expectations. But even considering that, I have every right to have high expectations of Disney. I certainly spent WAY more at Disney over the course of just a weekend than I did a couple of weeks in Vegas. The bartenders here were ok. Not at all what I would expect of Disney or what I experienced at other Disney resort pool bars during my trip. It just didn't feel like anyone was giving beyond a super small fraction of an effort. Friendly enough. But not great, or even good, service. And the drinks were eh. The speciality drinks that are particular to the Polynesian cannot be found here. The drinks that are here are similar to what's found at all other resorts. Now, don't get me wrong, it's not like I sent my drinks back. They were made just fine. Not great, not good, just fine. Note the hours. This poolside bar doesn't open until the afternoon and it doesn't stay open late. Prices are high, but so it everything at Disney. Magic Bands and Key to the World cards are, of course, accepted here when cashing out your tab.

Simple outside bar, conveniently located near the pool. Drinks are expensive but tasty.

I actually thought this was one of the better food options to eat at on the Polynesian Resort.

Bonus for the cool tiki mugs you can buy and add to your collection (I still have my mom's tiki glasses from the 60s and 70s). Depending on what drink you order, they may lower the lights, turn on the volcano and start chanting. I'll be honest, as an introvert, this wasn't my jam the first time I visited, because we were seated at the bar and the bartenders chose me for one of the acts. But the last two times, we were seated at a table in the very back and I love to watch from my dark corner. My husband ordered a zombie and our waitress did a hilarious zombie act as she brought it over to him. It's just so fun. I ordered a pineapple drink that featured Dole Whip and I didn't love it because the consistency was reminiscent of a Slurpee rather than Dole Whip. I feel like drinks are a little hit or miss and some are strong AF so know what you're getting into. Other things to keep in mind: if there's just two of you and you're not sitting at the bar, you will share a table. I don't love this but it is what it is. One time the couple we were seated with was cool but this last time, I made the mistake of making a light political comment that was meant with stony silence... my bad, but I don't need to think about putting my foot in my mouth if I'm not seated with strangers. All good, though, because for half the time we had our four-top to ourselves. This place is great for groups if you're willing to wait. Use the My Disney Exp app to put your name on the waitlist.

Wailulu Bar & Grill - Polynesian Resort Lunch Review…read more Tucked inside Disney's Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, Wailulu Bar & Grill delivers a standout lunch experience--especially if you're looking for something elevated but still relaxed. We sat at the bar for lunch, and from the start, the service set the tone. The bartenders were excellent--attentive, engaging, and consistently on top of everything without ever feeling rushed. The food leaned creative and satisfying. We started with a sweet potato hummus paired with breadfruit, which brought a unique twist and great texture. For mains, the fish of the day came served with green curry, chickpeas, and sweet potatoes--a well-balanced dish with bold flavor and a nicely cooked piece of fish. Drinks were equally solid. An Old Fashioned made with Woodford Reserve was smooth and well-executed, while a vodka spritz offered a lighter, refreshing option. This isn't a cheap meal, but the quality and portion sizes make it worth it. The combination of dishes was very filling, and overall, this stands out as one of the better bar-style meals on the north end of Walt Disney World. One of the underrated perks is the location. After your meal, you can walk through the Polynesian grounds to the Transportation and Ticket Center and hop directly on the monorail--saving time and avoiding the full loop, especially if you're heading back to EPCOT. Overall: Wailulu offers a relaxed but refined lunch experience with excellent service, creative dishes, and a convenient location--well worth the stop during a Disney day.

He asked if we were DVC members, which my sister is. She logged into her DVC account on the web version, and the waiter said that was not acceptable and she had to add the card to her wallet, which wasn't an option. He made her log into the app, which is no different than the web version. In a rude tone, he said "I'm so sorry that was such an inconvience for you." After this, we were treated horribly. We were spoken to with an attitude, he didn't check on us once and he would interact with other tables and purposely ignore us. Drinks were not refilled, straws were not offered and the whole experience was awful. We ended up asking for a manager, and one was not sent to our table. Instead, we had to flag one down. It unfortunately doesn't end there. My nieces food came out 20 minutes before our food. By the time our food arrived, they had finished their food. Other tables with kids received their food at the same time. I ordered the glass noodles and shrimp, which was fine. It really just tasted like salt, the shrimp were chewy and the portion was small. The manager removed the kids meals from our bill. I will not be back.

I personally like this place better because the apps are better and the drinks are WAY better. Our server was excellent and in character and steered us through the menu. She was great to convince my dad not to get the lit fuse since he doesn't like spicy stuff. I got it and "shiver me timbers" that was SPICY! I loved it. We also went with the bread and dips which was bigger than expected and the perfect app for the place! If there are any downsides, not all the seating allows you to see the "show". People are constantly running around so they can see something. There is also a chance that you don't really get much of a seat and they are strict on the time. But hey! This is the first bar at the Magic Kingdom. Its full of people, loud, and full of Disney magic. Sure, I will come back!

If you ever wondered what it's like to sip cocktails while the Magic Kingdom twinkles in the…read moredistance, the answer is Outer Rim -- a bar that feels like a Star Wars cantina designed by mid-century architects on vacation. First off, let me sing the praises of Nick, the bartender. The man isn't just pouring drinks -- he's orchestrating symphonies. Think less "guy behind the counter" and more "liquid therapist with Jedi reflexes." He's got that Bourdain-level wit, too. You come in for a drink, you leave with a story. Speaking of drinks: the chocolate margarita. Yeah, I said it. At first I thought it was Disney sorcery gone wrong. Chocolate and tequila? Madness. But one sip in, and I was ready to sign adoption papers. It's smooth, decadent, and mischievous in a way Walt probably never intended. If Hershey's and Jose Cuervo had a love child, Nick is the godfather. The vibe here? Perfect. Quiet enough to escape the chaos below, but lively enough that you don't feel like you've accidentally stumbled into a hotel lobby AA meeting. Sit by the window, order whatever Nick recommends, and toast to the fact that somehow Disney still knows how to make magic for grown-ups. Outer Rim isn't just a bar -- it's proof that sometimes the best ride at Disney doesn't even have a wait time.

Either way it is safe to assume my Outer Rim affair goes back well over ten years and as those who know me are well aware, I will always be down for a visit be it during a Monorail Pub Crawl or before/during/after a visit to Magic Kingdom. Located in the Grand Canyon Concourse at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Outer RIm is a casual cocktail lounge with first come seating, a bustling energy spilling over from neighboring Chef Mickey's and yet at the same time a chill vibe. While they may not have the best draft list on property you can find some staples as well as a rotating seasonal and plentiful offerings when it comes to cocktails. Beyond that, Outer Rim has a full bar, so feel free to order off-menu and don't forget to peruse their wine and whiskey offerings. So what keeps me coming back to Outer Rim? Liz. Liz does. She is my go-to server and a highlight of the visit. Next time you find ourself in Magic Kingdom or at the Contemporary and in need of a drink, give Outer Rim a shot. It has a vibe all of its own and in my opinion, and pardon the pun, is out of this world.
