My love for Outer Rim goes back farther than I can remember...like I remember meeting friends there for a drink or two but I can't remember how long ago it was!? 2009? 2014? Either way it is safe to assume my Outer Rim affair goes back well over ten years and as those who know me are well aware, I will always be down for a visit be it during a Monorail Pub Crawl or before/during/after a visit to Magic Kingdom. Located in the Grand Canyon Concourse at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Outer RIm is a casual cocktail lounge with first come seating, a bustling energy spilling over from neighboring Chef Mickey's and yet at the same time a chill vibe. While they may not have the best draft list on property you can find some staples as well as a rotating seasonal and plentiful offerings when it comes to cocktails. Beyond that, Outer Rim has a full bar, so feel free to order off-menu and don't forget to peruse their wine and whiskey offerings. So what keeps me coming back to Outer Rim? Liz. Liz does. She is my go-to server and a highlight of the visit. Next time you find ourself in Magic Kingdom or at the Contemporary and in need of a drink, give Outer Rim a shot. I have a soft spot in my heart for the Outer Rim. Where else can you enjoy a drink in a huge atrium watching a monorail glide through it? The best part is the pricing. I ordered a bourbon (Larceny) on the rocks which was $14.50...but for $2 more (yes, $2) you can make it a double. That's a total no-brainer and makes it ever so much more fun. :) Be aware though that they usually only have one server for the entire area, so if you're not seated close to the bar you might have to flag them down when you'd like to order something. read more

It's a standard Disney bar with different cozy seating options (couches, high top, bar) in the Contemporary hotel. The drinks are priced on par with Disney drink stands ($11-15 cocktails, with tax and tip about $17). I tried the Rum Swizzle, which was essentially a guava mango Hurricane that worked pretty well. My friend downed two Ultimate Long Islands and said they were good. We also refilled our water bottles at Chef Mickey's next door, which had nice cold filtered water. It definitely tasted better than park water fountains. Overall, nothing to go out of your way for, and drinks came out a little slowly. read more

This is located inside Disney's Contemporary resort on the 4th floor. It is right next to Chef Mickey's and just a bar. There is no food available but there is a quick service restaurant very close by that you could bring food to. You do not need a reservation or need to be staying at the resort to go here. This was the second stop on our monorail bar crawl. I have heard a lot of people just say this is a sports bar, but I actually really liked this bar. There is only one TV at the bar. But they have lots of hightops, tables and lounge chairs throughout the bar. We just sat at the bar, I have no idea why. Their windows are wide open and have such a beautiful view of Bay Lake. It really is a pretty spot to chill out especially on a beautiful day. They have specialty drinks as well as beer and wine and a full bar. I ordered the chocolate martini, which had Mozart Chocolate liquor, vanilla vodka, creme de cacao and Frangelico. This tasted like a chocolate milkshake, so delicious and so dangerous if you order more than one. Our friend ordered the raspberry mojito, yummy, and my husband ordered the Kentucky mule, a bourbon style drink. It was strong! I also wanted to try the blood orange margarita, the paloma, and the antioxidant lemonade. Next time! This bar does not open till 4pm but stays open until 11pm. It is a really awesome spot to get away from the busy park and grab a drink. There is no alcohol in the Magic Kingdom unless you are dining at one of their sit-down restaurants. I would definitely recommend stopping here if you want to get away from the park, or if you are staying at the hotel. All drinks are reasonably priced. I ordered the Rum Sizzle to go. I should have known the word Sizzle would include something I don't like in my drink...say spicy? The menu didn't say it was in there so I took another sip. I asked the bartender if the drink included ginger. He wasn't sure but would check the label on the syrup. Sure does. He got a little worried because he thought I was allergic to ginger. Maybe so. Ginger gives me a sore throat. He apologized and made me a Blood Orange Margarita. Much better! The ambiance was just okay and more typical of an airport lounge. I'm not really a fan of the Contemporary because it's very dated. But I highly recommend a stop here for a quick drink. read more

I don't know what the odds are that we managed to wander in here for a drink the same night as the Kentucky Derby, but here we were. The timing was actually pretty good. The bartender and waitress were hosting an impromptu Kentucky Derby party and taking bets on horses (no money involved, of course). We chose are frontrunners - some of whom ended up in back - and ordered our drinks to enjoy during the race. They offer quite a selection of drinks here; some that you wouldn't probably consider or even see in other places. When in Rome, though.... There have been a lot of changes at the Contemporary Resort in the past few years, but one of the things that has not changes is the Outer Rim. It is a great place to relax and people watch after a long day at the parks or wait for your table at Chef Mickey's, The Wave, or California Grill. Our favorite splurge is to toast our trip with a "Glowtini." A sweet martini that includes a blue glowing "ice cube." After the drink, your get to keep the ice cube for yourself. The Outer Rim at Disney's Contemporary Resort is located on the fourth floor and has a small bar that seats about seven and enough seating for maybe 30 people at several tables lined along the angeled windows that has 4 wide comfortable chairs at each section. A great space for putting down your many bags of souvenirs, taking a break, having a drink and relaxing. The design of the bar puts the tap conveniently in the middle of the bar, convenient for the bartender unless he or she is closing out a guest who is sitting on the other side of the tap. The beer and cocktail list is the standard drink list you'll find at most of the monorail resorts. The bartenders are always friendly and its a convenient spot to stop at and relax especially after shopping at the nearby Bayview Gifts, Fantasia and Fantasia Market. The Outer Rim offers a great option to grab a drink and relax because of it's convenient location in the Contemporary and to the monorail. I'll see you around the Outer Rim. read more

The Outer Rim is a MUST DO for us every single time we go to Disney. It's especially a MUST DO if you're eating at Chef Mickey's or pre-gaming before taking the Pirate Cruise. (Trust me) We've been waited on by the same staff for all of the seven visits we've made and they are always extremely attentive and accommodating and very friendly. They've since reconfigured the space, adding more seating, which is great, but it draws in more people to our 'secret' pit-stop. Seriously, a fantastic bar. read more

This is my favorite place to have a drink I am a born Disney - live Disney - love Disney Disney-4-lifer. I travel here via bus, Uber, monorail or boat (from my other fav place, Ft Wilderness, ties with the Polynesian). Whatever gets me here, I will take it! I will travel from Animal Kingdom through crowds of people to sit and relax, overlook Bay lake, watch people and enjoy my smoked turkey. I look forward to this time each and every time I go to Disney and if I do not get to the Outer Rim, I can say I am disappointed. Yes, all other bars carry my smoked turkey, but this place, is just my little piece of Disney magic. Childhood memories brings me back here to the arcade, now I can share that with my kids as I relax, enjoy a book, watch sports or just watch the people as they travel through enjoying their own magical time. The kids get an arcade card, I get me time. What more can a person ask for? I wish I was there typing this RIGHT now. Wow, definitely underwhelmed by the service here. Had to go to bartender to order, and he actually closed the bar (with a still open tab!) without even doing a last call! Drinks were regular Disney fare, no specials. The place is hidden in a corner, ran down, ill suited to large groups. No real reasons to come here except to kill time for one of the two nearby restaurants. The Disney cocktail menu is quite good and offers a "top shelf" for all of its drinks priced $10-12. Locals with Tables in Wonderland are offered 20% discount here. Although I'm a regular here, the bar has lost some of its quaint charm after a recent renovation which increased the number of seats. Though the added seating is helpful, most of the bar's patrons use the space as a hangout while awaiting their dinner reservation at nearby Chef Mickeys, and the choice of seats and tables makes the place feel like it's an extension to the quick service restaurant. Gone, for the most part, are the lounge chairs overlooking the lagoon and this is a disappointment. I suspect that there were some staffing problems in this bar the day that we went, as there weren't any servers or drinks to be had (except from the bartender directly). Hopefully the management has not cut bar service as it will lead me and my drinking buddies to choose as different venue. In addition, we Tables in Wonderland patrons often get harassed by the parking guard despite having purchased the privilege to visit bars across Disney World property, and I do hope the management resolved problems we have parking in the Contemporary -- a bar patron is a "resort guest" when he wants to go the bar. read more

The service can be slow, there is only one waitress and when the lounge is full that one waitress is just running around. The drinks were pretty delicious, they don't skimp too much on the booze. We made our way here right after breakfast at chef mickeys! The bartender was super nice and made our drinks really well as in where you could actually taste the alki in your drink! The prices were not bad for it being disney and were a great size as well. He was very nice and even had a conversation with my bf which is rare now a days to actually connect with anyone. Not the best looking bar out of all of disney but it served its purpose before we made our way to Magic Kingdom where it's dry land. We sat around when it first opened so we didn't have to wait or was the bartender overwhelmed on how some of the other reviews stated. I used to visit here before there was a Chef Mickey's and have seen it get more and more hidden. In the past, they used to have their own Ale called "Monorail Ale"... but that is gone now. it was actually quite good. These days, they have the standard Disney drink menu that is used across property. Again, Disney pours so I don't expect a strong drink if you order something with a long creative name! I stick to beers and straight up liquor. They can't mess with those! Service is okay... it all depends on who is working the bar. Some nights are better than others depending on the server and bartender. Again, Disney prices so they range from 8 to 12 dollars for a drink depending on what your order. The only thing that I wish they would change is their hours.
