Outer Rim is a great place to grab a drink when at the contemporary!! They don't serve any food but are conveniently located next to a quick serve location that has tons of good snacks! The bar tenders are always friendly! Keep in mind there isn't always someone walking around taking orders, so sometimes you'll have to go up and get them yourselves! It's a comfy and cozy spot but can get a little loud because it's right next to Chef Mickeys. Overall one of my go tos! read more

Outer Rim is a very small and overlooked bar/lounge, which is located on the main level at Disney's contemporary resort. This is not a place I visit all the time, but it is a fine stop. It reminds me of a sports bar, they do have 1 TV so not crazy. I also usually see adults, particularly men, coming here to grab a drink to go. This spot is directly next to Chef Mickey's, which mean it can get loud and it can be really hard to grab a seat. My biggest issue with this spot is the people who have zero intention of buying a drink, sit at the tables or the lounge chairs and wait for their table at Chef Mickey. There is a really great view of Bay Lake but it can be so hard to sit here and enjoy a drink and the views. I do wish the cast members did a better job at Outer Rim and Chef Mickey telling people it is a not a waiting area. I also do not understand why Chef Mickey's does not have better waiting benches or seats. I do feel for the servers because the guests are taking up seats from those that would actually spend money and grab a drink. My wife and I have had to leave because there were no seats. The menu is simple, just drinks, no food. There is a pretty well stocked bar along with a few of their "specialty" drinks. They are nothing super fancy and I do think if they had some themed drinks to their name, outer rim, they would be more popular. I also used to love ordering their bourbon flight which they have recently removed. It was one of the best deals and I'm sure Disney realized they were offering this at a steal! I would say the best part of this lounge is the views of Bay Lake and getting to watch the monorail going through the hotel. It can be relaxing in the middle of the day when Chef Mickey's is closed and it is quiet in the hotel. As I said, I think this is more of a stop for people to run in and grab a quick drink to go. Overall this spot is fine. We do not run here all the time, esepcially when our favorite lounge is on the first floor, but we will swing by from time to time. It is a great stop if you are partaking in the Monorail Crawl. If you want food or a snack, the quick service location is directly across from here as well. You are able to grab food and bring it into the lounge. I would say it is worth looking at, it could use some updating, maybe walling off the side of Chef Mickey's and making it more enclosed, refreshing the carpet but the drinks are solid. But please if you are just waiting for your table at chef mickey's, remember that outer rim is a bar/ lounge. Outer Rim is the small bar located on the main level of Disney's Contemporary resort. To us this is kind of the "sports bar", even though there's only one TV. It feels very much like the place where dad's go to get away from the family for 5 minutes and grab a beer. It is directly next to Chef Mickey's so you also get a ton of people who will just sit there while they wait for their table. This is my main issue with Outer Rim. We want to visit and sit down, and enjoy the view of the lake, but half the time we can never find a seat because there are tons of families who are waiting for their table at Chef Mickey's. I don't understand why Chef Mickey's does not have better seating for people who are waiting. I also don't understand why the servers at Outer Rim don't tell families that the tables are reserved for people who are dining at Outer Rim. Or put a sign on the table. Half the time we try to go here we can't find a seat so we turn around and go back to our favorite bar which is Steakhouse 71 downstairs. Their menu is pretty simple, they do have a pretty well stocked bar so you could order pretty much any drink you would like. They do have a menu with what they call their specialty drinks, however there's nothing super unique on there. I would love to see some sort of Spacey drink with their name being Outer Rim. They also used to have my husband's favorite bourbon flight which they have since removed. They probably realized that it was not a good value which is something we always said they were losing money on, since it was so cheap. I usually go for a chocolate martini here because they do have Mozart. They also have lots of beer and wine which is also good. The best part of this lounge is the view of the water and the view of the monorail going through the hotel. It can sometimes get loud when Chef Mickey's which is right next door gets loud. I don't really think that this is a place that you go to relax and enjoy a cocktail, as you would at Enchanted Rose at the Grand Floridian. However I think this is a good place to stop and get a drink especially if you're staying at the hotel. It's usually not very crowded, again with people who are actually having a drink at the bar. You're really just battling people waiting for their table. The servers are always very friendly and happy to chat. Overall I think this location is fine, it's not a place that we run to all the time, but if we are doing a monorail crawl we will try and stop here. We also like to come here and have a drink while we wait for bar seating at California grill, which is at the top of the contemporary. I definitely think it's worth checking out especially if you're staying there, grab a glass of wine or a beer or even a cocktail. Either way it is safe to assume my Outer Rim affair goes back well over ten years and as those who know me are well aware, I will always be down for a visit be it during a Monorail Pub Crawl or before/during/after a visit to Magic Kingdom. Located in the Grand Canyon Concourse at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Outer RIm is a casual cocktail lounge with first come seating, a bustling energy spilling over from neighboring Chef Mickey's and yet at the same time a chill vibe. While they may not have the best draft list on property you can find some staples as well as a rotating seasonal and plentiful offerings when it comes to cocktails. Beyond that, Outer Rim has a full bar, so feel free to order off-menu and don't forget to peruse their wine and whiskey offerings. So what keeps me coming back to Outer Rim? Liz. Liz does. She is my go-to server and a highlight of the visit. Next time you find ourself in Magic Kingdom or at the Contemporary and in need of a drink, give Outer Rim a shot. I ordered a bourbon (Larceny) on the rocks which was $14.50...but for $2 more (yes, $2) you can make it a double. The drinks are priced on par with Disney drink stands ($11-15 cocktails, with tax and tip about $17). I tried the Rum Swizzle, which was essentially a guava mango Hurricane that worked pretty well. My friend downed two Ultimate Long Islands and said they were good. We also refilled our water bottles at Chef Mickey's next door, which had nice cold filtered water. We had the best server and our drinks were all fantastic. The prices weren't bad for Disney. I learned that the resort lounges have better bartenders than in the parks, which makes sense. The bartender and waitress were hosting an impromptu Kentucky Derby party and taking bets on horses (no money involved, of course). There have been a lot of changes at the Contemporary Resort in the past few years, but one of the things that has not changes is the Outer Rim. It is a great place to relax and people watch after a long day at the parks or wait for your table at Chef Mickey's, The Wave, or California Grill. Our favorite splurge is to toast our trip with a "Glowtini." A sweet martini that includes a blue glowing "ice cube." After the drink, your get to keep the ice cube for yourself. The Outer Rim at Disney's Contemporary Resort is located on the fourth floor and has a small bar that seats about seven and enough seating for maybe 30 people at several tables lined along the angeled windows that has 4 wide comfortable chairs at each section. A great space for putting down your many bags of souvenirs, taking a break, having a drink and relaxing. The design of the bar puts the tap conveniently in the middle of the bar, convenient for the bartender unless he or she is closing out a guest who is sitting on the other side of the tap. The beer and cocktail list is the standard drink list you'll find at most of the monorail resorts. The bartenders are always friendly and its a convenient spot to stop at and relax especially after shopping at the nearby Bayview Gifts, Fantasia and Fantasia Market. The Outer Rim offers a great option to grab a drink and relax because of it's convenient location in the Contemporary and to the monorail. I'll see you around the Outer Rim. read more

This is my favorite place to have a drink I am a born Disney - live Disney - love Disney Disney-4-lifer. I travel here via bus, Uber, monorail or boat (from my other fav place, Ft Wilderness, ties with the Polynesian). Whatever gets me here, I will take it! I will travel from Animal Kingdom through crowds of people to sit and relax, overlook Bay lake, watch people and enjoy my smoked turkey. I look forward to this time each and every time I go to Disney and if I do not get to the Outer Rim, I can say I am disappointed. Yes, all other bars carry my smoked turkey, but this place, is just my little piece of Disney magic. Childhood memories brings me back here to the arcade, now I can share that with my kids as I relax, enjoy a book, watch sports or just watch the people as they travel through enjoying their own magical time. The kids get an arcade card, I get me time. What more can a person ask for? I wish I was there typing this RIGHT now. Wow, definitely underwhelmed by the service here. Had to go to bartender to order, and he actually closed the bar (with a still open tab!) without even doing a last call! Drinks were regular Disney fare, no specials. The place is hidden in a corner, ran down, ill suited to large groups. No real reasons to come here except to kill time for one of the two nearby restaurants. Otherwise the lounge at the wave is more lively, has better drinks, an actual food menu, and nicer bartenders. read more

The Outer Rim is a MUST DO for us every single time we go to Disney. It's especially a MUST DO if you're eating at Chef Mickey's or pre-gaming before taking the Pirate Cruise. (Trust me) We've been waited on by the same staff for all of the seven visits we've made and they are always extremely attentive and accommodating and very friendly. The Disney cocktail menu is quite good and offers a "top shelf" for all of its drinks priced $10-12. Locals with Tables in Wonderland are offered 20% discount here. Although I'm a regular here, the bar has lost some of its quaint charm after a recent renovation which increased the number of seats. Though the added seating is helpful, most of the bar's patrons use the space as a hangout while awaiting their dinner reservation at nearby Chef Mickeys, and the choice of seats and tables makes the place feel like it's an extension to the quick service restaurant. Gone, for the most part, are the lounge chairs overlooking the lagoon and this is a disappointment. I suspect that there were some staffing problems in this bar the day that we went, as there weren't any servers or drinks to be had (except from the bartender directly). Hopefully the management has not cut bar service as it will lead me and my drinking buddies to choose as different venue. In addition, we Tables in Wonderland patrons often get harassed by the parking guard despite having purchased the privilege to visit bars across Disney World property, and I do hope the management resolved problems we have parking in the Contemporary -- a bar patron is a "resort guest" when he wants to go the bar. read more

They serve the standard drink menu for the Disney Resorts. I don't think there is any food served. It's a nice relaxing place to take a load off after a day at the park. The service can be slow, there is only one waitress and when the lounge is full that one waitress is just running around. The drinks were pretty delicious, they don't skimp too much on the booze. The prices aren't too bad, I believe my margarita was about 8 bucks. read more

We made our way here right after breakfast at chef mickeys! The bartender was super nice and made our drinks really well as in where you could actually taste the alki in your drink! The prices were not bad for it being disney and were a great size as well. He was very nice and even had a conversation with my bf which is rare now a days to actually connect with anyone. Not the best looking bar out of all of disney but it served its purpose before we made our way to Magic Kingdom where it's dry land. Ah... the Outer Rim Lounge... I have been going here for many years and have seen it change in form and service over that time. I used to visit here before there was a Chef Mickey's and have seen it get more and more hidden. In the past, they used to have their own Ale called "Monorail Ale"... but that is gone now. it was actually quite good. These days, they have the standard Disney drink menu that is used across property. Again, Disney pours so I don't expect a strong drink if you order something with a long creative name! I stick to beers and straight up liquor. They can't mess with those! Service is okay... it all depends on who is working the bar. Some nights are better than others depending on the server and bartender. Again, Disney prices so they range from 8 to 12 dollars for a drink depending on what your order. The only thing that I wish they would change is their hours. I would love to be able to stop in for a drink Before going to the Magic Kingdom during mid day... but they don't open to the afternoon and I am in the park by then. Oh well... Enjoy! read more
