Best waffle I've had in Belgium. The whip cream here is also noteworthy. Very strong cream flavor. Waffle texture, consistency, and flavor is the best I've had out of 7 places. The milk my kids had in their hot chocolate I sipped before the chocolate melted into it and it was also some of the best milk I've ever had. Don't waste time anywhere else. Located on a street that my partner called "chocolate row": a little side street off of Markt where nearly every shop is selling chocolate or sweets of one variety or another. Chez Albert does only one thing, and they do it well: fresh waffles, hot off the grill, that you can eat on the go! The staff are quite friendly and there's rarely a long wait, the line usually isn't long and they prepare your order quickly as well. The grill is right up front and it's fun to watch them make the waffles: I was amused to see that after they finish a few batches of waffles, they clean off the grill with a vacuum cleaner! The waffles alone are quite sweet, with a nice variety of textures, including the slightly crunchy sugar crystals and a soft, almost gooey center. You can get any combination of toppings on it: caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, fresh strawberries, cooked cherries (in a cherry sauce), and most importantly, slagroom (which is Dutch for whipped cream)! I really enjoyed it with strawberries and whipped cream. With so much sugar in the waffle, the fresh strawberries tasted a bit tart in comparison, which I thought was a good balance, it would have been too sweet for me otherwise. read more

This place serves waffles to end all waffles. I had a waffle with chocolate sauce, strawberries, and whipped cream. OMG! I can honestly say this was the most amazing waffle I've ever had. My husband had a waffle with caramel sauce that he really liked. The waffle itself was chewy and sweet on its own without all of the toppings. And for under 7 euros, I thought it was a bargain. It was filling enough to serve as my dinner for the evening. If I'm ever back in Bruges, I will definitely make it a point to stop here. read more

DELICIOUS!!! Close to the city center, this place is great if you want a great Belgian waffle. I got one with fresh strawberries and whipped cream, and it was divine. The whipped cream is very solid so it doesn't melt, the strawberries are fresh and sweet, and the waffle was crunchy outside and soft inside. I loved every bite. At €5.50, it's a bit pricey for a waffle, but it's worth it! I highly recommend it!! read more

Good Liege waffles, 2.50 EUR each without adornments (like chocolate or fruit or slagroom). Tried a few times, pretty consistent, but definitely best when freshly made. One of the few places on the streets between the Markt and the Burg that I would recommend, though it's just a take-away window. read more

Alright my English speaking friends.. This is the ideal dessert spot for a lovely stroll through Brugge. The waffles are cooked fresh right in front of you and oh my goodness.. That cream on top is amazing. I did the cream and strawberries and it was like angels singing when I took that first bite.. We walked into the town square, found a bench and soaked in all we could in this beautiful place. You must stop by this wonderful place to really experience all that Belgium and specifically Brugge has to offer. It really does give you the full experience! Yes I agree with all the other 5 star reviews...they are perfect. I recommend plain and just enjoy the sugary crunch and warm buttery inside of the waffle. We went here 3 times on our trip and I did get the waffle with chocolate once. While this was delicious, the chocolate overpowers the delicious waffle taste which really needs nothing else. The server we had didn't even know what yelp was or that they were on it and had a 5 star rating...that's pretty cool. read more

I dare say that this is one of the best liege waffles i have ever had in my life! Also not that expensive as well! Get the plain one and appreeciate the sweetness bomb from the sugar inside the dough and although most liege waffles are super doughy and i found them to be too heavy .... Must try!! Cheap and delicious Belgian style waffles topped with Belgian chocolate. Feed me this everyday and I am in heaven!! They have the dark and milk chocolate toppings, I tried the milk chocolate topping. My toddler and the whole family enjoyed it. I've never had waffles that tasted this light and fluffy before!! I had it with dark chocolate sauce and the cream was also heavenly! It was €4.50 for one but ever so worth it. The line moves quickly. I'll definitely be back before I leave Brugge tomorrow. read more

Great waffle but I actually preferred the waffles at a place called Oyya. I will say I only got waffles plain and with a little powdered sugar so if you are looking for one with a lot of toppings, they are offered at both Oyya and Chez Albert but I couldn't tell you which one would be better. read more

While we had grabbed some mini-waffles previously at the market in the town square in Bruges, we made a point of looking up a spot that had well-rated waffles and ordering a proper Belgian waffle while we were in town. This took us to Chez Albert, which is a shop that simply churns out fantastic waffles as quickly as the folks can buy them. There's no seating at all, so it is more of a stand where you grab your food, find a nearby spot on the steps, and chow down as quickly as you can. We ended up going with something simple yet delicious - a warm Liege waffle covered in strawberries and elegantly drizzled with Belgian chocolate. The chocolate here is fantastic and tastes much finer than Nutella does. The strawberries were fresh; I think it was in-season in Belgium at this time of year, as we had delicious fruit everywhere, but particularly on the berry front. It was simple and sweet, but with the waffle - which had that great richness but wasn't as overly dense as other waffles I've had - it really felt like a complete dessert. My wife and I polished it off quickly, even though we made a little bit of a mess. At only 4-5 euros, it is easily worth the money, and even though it's not a terribly fancy spot, don't let that scare you away...without having tried any of the other spots in town, Chez Albert is definitely one of the spots you should be trying out during your time in Bruges. read more

Tasty waffles. They seemed more like fresh cinnamon roll dough (without the cinnamon) that they put in a waffle press. The center of the waffle turns out a bit doughy though which was not my favorite, but other people seem to rave about these waffles! Must be a preference thing. Beyond mediocre. Waffle was undercooked and overly sweet. Came here because of the good reviews but was horribly disappointed. Got four waffles between all of us and they were all bad. Could be due to the person helping us looking like they hated their life. Edit: Strolled over to Oyya to give waffles another shot. Absolutely delicious, crispy with a slight crunch and perfectly cooked. Go there instead, makes sense as the locals were eating there too. read more
