2018 Gelato Contest Winner for Best Gelato in Belgium. so, i actually bought ice cream across the way at di vinci then i sat outside of oyya to eat my ice cream because there was seating available. as i was eating my ice cream i then saw that they won an award. so what did i do? like any other foodie i finished my ice cream cone. i went in and got samples then I ordered some. :) the texture is firm and definitely has a great quality in their gelato! it was heaven i tell ya! i ordered the pistachio and i have to say that i am really glad i didn't leave Belgium without trying oyya. it was really good and i am surprised there's not a line out the door. you can definitely taste the difference between oyya and di vinci across the way. there wasn't even much of a price difference. they offer an array of other desserts as well. i would highly recommend oyya if you are in the mood for ice cream/gelato. go give your sweet tooth something to talk about! 2 thumbs up! this yelper gives her stamp of approval!

AMAZING gelato flavors. I got biscoff (speculoos) and ferrero rocher, my sister got kinder, and my mom got mango & coconut (vegan.) We also got a waffle.

One of the quintessential experiences in Belgium is to try a liege waffle. Luckily I was able to do this on my first day in Oyya, a dessert shop in Bruges selling ice cream and waffles. Liege waffles are known to be made of a thicker batter resulting from dough using yeast in comparison to the Brussels waffle (of American breakfast fame). Furthermore a traditional Liege waffle has pearl sugar on top so that when it cooks, the waffles impart a crispness to its surface and when you bite into it, it's already sweet. Hence for me there is no need to make it even sweeter, though there is an option to add toppings like strawberries, whipped cream, Nutella and speculoos ("cookie butter"). For €2.50 I was able to get a plain waffle. Simple yet still good. The waffle was still quite warm to the touch. Though on a later visit when my dad bought a waffle with whipped cream the waffle had to be rewarmed on the waffle maker. A line can form in front of the store yet it goes by quickly, less than 5 minutes. However the line is shorter than Chez Albert, one of Bruges' well-loved spots for waffles. Though they sell gelato it doesn't seem to pass the gelato test with the gelato itself being piled up high like pillows. Besides the waffle itself is already sweet as is, no need to add to my daily sugar intake!

This place has the best ice cream I've ever had and I went twice in one day! Their flavors are creative and so delicious like "Kinder Bueno", "Ferrero Rocher" and "Speculos". They taste exactly like the candy sooo why not get all 3? The Belgian Waffles are just as good and you can get tons of toppings like bananas, speculos, white chocolate, nutella....

Belgium waffles... Can this please become a thing in the U.S. :'( The waffle is so amazing, unlike anything I've tasted before. It's dense, sweet and rich in flavor, and is very, very filling. My boyfriend ordered the Belgium Waffle with Chocolate, Cream and Ice Cream, and he chose the Ferrero Rocher flavor. It's spot on with the original flavor of the chocolate! They added a creamy whip cream, and garnished it with milk chocolate drizzle that immediately hardened on top of the ice cream to create a beautiful contrast in texture. Definitely do not want to miss out on this place when you're in the city!

Yes, this is slightly pricey compared to the gelato store across the street. But sample it and you can taste the difference. This is smoother and richer!!! I tried the pistachio and hazelnut. Loved both of it! However, the ice cream here do melt a lot quicker. Nonetheless, I would definitely come back for more!

Love the waffles here. They're cheap, full of sugar, and the place has free wifi. I had to stop the guy from putting more sugar on my waffle, which he thought was funny; I admit, it was a hilarious interaction. I don't know how people do it! There's public seating outside of the store front so feel free to take a seat and do some people watching.

On a wet and rainy afternoon in Bruges, my partner and I decided to get gelato. Brilliant. Between us, we had the following flavors of gelato: ferrero rocher, kinder bueno and toblerone. Our favorite was the kinder bueno (the sweetest of the trio), super tasty! For the quality and portion that you get, Oyya is very inexpensive. Too bad we didn't get the chance to try their waffles, but if I ever find myself in Bruges again, I'll be back to try the waffles and the other gelato flavors!

Overestimated how much I could handle and ordered strawberry and kinder.

I love everything about this ice bar!! All the flavors I've tried are spot on and delicious. I went here twice in a weekend. Located across a gelato shop, so if you're feeling for a more dense and rich type of ice cream, this is the place for you. Lighter and fluffier would be the gelato shop (Da Vinci). The area outside is also nice to just sit and relax wth your ice cream. I ordered Ferrero Rocher, strawberry, and Kinder (the candy). They were all representative of what they're supposed to be! Prices are reasonable, 1.50 for a single scoop, 2.90 for a double. And I don't remember how much the triple scoop is but it's probably worth it as well. The servers were sweet and were quick. Definitely would come back here if I'm visiting Brugge again. Recommended!!

If you have to choose a single waffle place for your trip to Bruges, pick that one.

We ordered espresso and tea, which came with a miniature sized dessert that was very good. We were too hungry and didn't take pics of the food. Hubby ordered the Croque monsieur, which he said was very good. Kids ordered the Belgium waffle with strawberries. The waffle was nicely crispy, and still light and airy. Kids ate it all. I had the warm goat cheese and bacon salad. It was very good. Sweetness of the corn balanced out the creaminess of the cheese and the saltiness of the bacon. Desserts looked amazing, I wanted to try them all. My son decided to choose the fruit tart to share and it was delicious. Lots of fruits and with creamy center and crunchy shortbread crust.

We walked over and into a cornucopia of pastries. I had never seen a display like this before. I told them that we do nit have a reservation and wold like to have a light breakfast, after a 30 second wait they brought us to a lovely table in the back. A truly delightful setting. We ordered light as I do not enjoy 'bulking up' in the morning when I know that I will be doing a lot of walking and exploring. A pastry each and some coffee was our meal. I was a little disappointed that I didn't order more after seeing some of the breakfasts they were serving. Everything just looked so good. Our waitress was lovely and took very good care of us despite us having a very small breakfast. She was extremely appreciative of the tip we left. This place is a definite stop if when we return to Bruges and we will return to Bruges. KUDOs to the team at Carpe Diem.
