We came for a light lunch. We were seated right away. It looks quite old fashion inside. Like you are eating at a nice dining place. I believed it is a family owned establishment. We ordered espresso and tea, which came with a miniature sized dessert that was very good. We were too hungry and didn't take pics of the food. Hubby ordered the Croque monsieur, which he said was very good. Kids ordered the Belgium waffle with strawberries. The waffle was nicely crispy, and still light and airy. Kids ate it all. I had the warm goat cheese and bacon salad. It was very good. Sweetness of the corn balanced out the creaminess of the cheese and the saltiness of the bacon. Desserts looked amazing, I wanted to try them all. My son decided to choose the fruit tart to share and it was delicious. This was an awesome first stop on our second visit to Bruges. We saw someone eating a danish while walking and she told us that it come from the best spot in Bruges. We walked over and into a cornucopia of pastries. I had never seen a display like this before. I told them that we do nit have a reservation and wold like to have a light breakfast, after a 30 second wait they brought us to a lovely table in the back. A truly delightful setting. We ordered light as I do not enjoy 'bulking up' in the morning when I know that I will be doing a lot of walking and exploring. A pastry each and some coffee was our meal. I was a little disappointed that I didn't order more after seeing some of the breakfasts they were serving. Everything just looked so good. Our waitress was lovely and took very good care of us despite us having a very small breakfast. She was extremely appreciative of the tip we left. Cute little bakery in Bruges! There is a cafe inside too if you have time to sit and eat! I loved the variety here and the breads were all so fresh! I tried the muesli bread and it was delicious! So many little pieces of dried fruit and nuts in it! The bread was very soft also! Quick service but it was a tad awkward as I was standing there for quite some time before someone acknowledged me..they were also very awkwardly staring at me haha but super friendly after they realized I was there for bread. read more

This was my family and I's favorite breakfast of our entire trip! It was a rainy morning, so we were so relieved to walk into a cozy restaurant with very friendly staff. My mom and I got the pastries and coffee. It was beautifully presented, the coffee was great, and their pastries were fresh and delicious! My dad enjoyed their country skillet, and my fiancee really enjoyed his raspberry crepe with vanilla ice cream. He also ordered a side of smoked salmon, and surprisingly the portion was larger than expected. Would definitely return! read more

Excellent place to eat at in Brugge!!! Very kind employees!! Stopped for coffee and pastry to go but found a lovely table out front so changed it to table service. Best decision we ever made!! Quiche was excellent! Coffee was delicious! Service was impecable!! Loved seeing the carriages go by while we eat our meal on a misty Sunday morning. So memorable! Just remember to let servers know if you want a table or if you want food to take away. The tables outside are lovely to eat at but keep in mind that they are for table service. My partner and I had the misfortune of traveling thousands of miles to be confronted with one of the rudest clerk ever. After patiently standing in line behind a couple and two children for 15 minutes while they ordered several items, the female clerk got to us and was curt and rude. Our intention was to order tea and some pastries. The FIRST thing I asked was if they had tea with HONEY. The clerk said "yes" and then proceeded to ask "do you want it for here or to go?" Before I had the chance to answer, she said, "if you want it for here then you have to order inside the ding room. Worried that ordering inside the dining room would take too long I told the clerk that we would prefer to order the tea in to go cups. The clerk rudely snapped, "if you order it to go you can't drink or eat what you order inside the restaurant." She brought the tea and the pastries to the counter and after she rung my order up I asked about the honey. She replied that they don't have any honey... Really??? That was the first thing I asked, which indicated she completely ignored my original request and had no interest in us as customers. After we left the store with two small pastries and two overpriced minuscule cups of tea (WITHOUT HONEY), we walked ACROSS the street. After standing on the sidewalk for about ten minutes we noticed an empty table with one chair next to it. My partner and I walked over to the table, placed our small cups of tea on the table and I sat down. Less than five minutes later the same rude female clerk walked across the street and accosted us in public, chastising us for using the table and telling us "I told you that if you order to go you cannot eat at the store." After reprimand us like an elementary school teacher, she said, "go ahead and stay there." Seriously?? The clerk went to all the trouble to leave the store, walk across the street and publicly chastise us for sitting in a chair and putting two cups of tea on a table that was not marked and no clear signage that the table was part of the business, and then tell us it's ok to stay. I'm not sure what kind of passive / aggressive power trip the clerk was on, but I can't recall ever being treated so rudely. I'm not sure if the rude and disrespectful clerk was prejudiced against us because we were tourists or homophobic and disrriminatinatory against us as a gay couple, but it was clearly obvious the clerk treated the couple and two children in a markedly different and much more respectful and accommodating manner than she treated us. I would not recommend anyone patronize this business, particularly if you are a tourist or a member of the LGBTQ+ community. read more

The worst dining experience of my life. Never have I experienced customer service this horrible. When I asked the price of something, my waitress told me in a snippy tone, "Everything's on the menu. Look before you ask." She walked away on me before I could finish my sentence. My fiance and I both carefully looked over the menu to find the price (I was customizing an order) and saw none. So I found her after a long wait and told her, "I can't find your price here. And I honestly find it rude that you'd walk away in the middle of my order." At that point, she said that she refused to serve me and loudly told me to get out of her restaurant in front of all of the other diners. My fiance and I have never been kicked out of a restaurant in our lives before Carpe Diem. After being kicked out, another waitress quickly apologized to me in the bakery area for her coworker's rudeness but added on, "She's just very stressed. It's busy here, and it IS on the menu." She continued to make excuses for her and made no efforts to make up for her coworker's behavior. The menu was overpriced. I believe the champagne breakfast was 15 euros? I obviously didn't get to try anything. The food other people were eating didn't look particularly good, and definitely not worth the price. I would never give this business a cent of my hard earned cash, if merely out of principle. read more

They only lost 1 star in this review because it was so busy and we had to wait for 30min before we got seated. But that's nothing. Reservations are required or you just won't get in on the weekends. Loved this quaint little lunch spot. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Had a fantastic quiche and salad. Others had Belgian waffles with ice cream and homemade chocolate sauce.....yummy! We were part of a day trip and our guide recommended an overpriced place that likely gives him kick backs for referring patrons there - no thanks. We ventured off and thank goodness we did. This lovely tea room is old world in every sense: the food, the aesthetic, the building. It's the perfect place to stop in for an elegant coffee and waffle on your way back to the train station. They also have pastries, baked goods, salads, and such things. The wood paneling, the large fireplace with stove, and paintings make the atmosphere unforgettably European.
