I think I had hot chocolate everywhere I went in Belgium! I can never go back to Swiss Miss.

This is a very small place with amazing food slightly off the beaten path in Bruges. I definitely recommend reservations due to the size and popularity! Their breakfast and lunch bagels are truly delicious with unique flavors that just work perfectly together and I will absolutely eat here again when we're back in the fall! We visited with reservations on a late Monday morning in the off season and all 8-ish tables were taken except for the one reserved for our party of 3. (The place seats about 24 guests total.) Be aware that there's nowhere to stand and wait inside, so you're either seated or you're outside waiting. There is no in between. This restaurant could do sooo much more business if they moved to a larger space but... ‍ The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that the service isn't great. There were 4 people that we saw working in the front with a couple others working in the kitchen, I'm sure. They do a very healthy volume of takeout business so, despite the low volume of dine-in guests, all workers were extremely busy! That said, servers consistently passed by tables looking down, appearing to be intentionally avoiding eye contact. B O T T O M L I N E : Go, but know what you're getting into.

Checked out Sanseveria from a recommendation from our Airbnb host. It was happy to see it was open early, which is very convenient. The space is super cute and located in a convenient spot! The staff were very friendly and the service was fast. However, if you're American and are expecting this to be on par with bagels back home, I'd go as far as to say skip. It was more bread shaped like a bagel, and really missed the classic bagel flavor and texture. It was very dense, crumbly, bready, and bland. The fillings were decent! I got the "Richard". The bacon was super yummy, the egg was quite underdone (lots of runny white, which I know some people like, but not for me) and the avocado tasted fresh. The prices were a little too steep for what it was. If I were to go back I'd maybe try a sweet bagel and see if it was any different of an experience :)

Okay. The bagels aren't great but everything else is. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming and delightful. All of the toppings are delicious. The whole place is whimsical and inviting. Come in. Have breakfast and don't sweat the small stuff. What a relaxing way to start the day.

I got the Richard and it was surprisingly very good for how basic of a sandwich it was! Only thing is that if I wasn't on vacation, I would not pay €11 for it again (way too expensive for a bagel sandwich), but I do have to give kudos to the employees there because there seemed to be only two of them and it was busy and they were very on top of things! Cute restaurant, loved all the trinkets! I also got a cappuccino and it was great.

Really good morning breakfast off the beaten path from the main market. Worth the short walk past the fish market. The place is small so reservations are recommended after 10AM on the weekend.

This is a restaurant where locals eat. I decided to give it a try but was a bit disappointed. I ordered the Suzy bagel with avocado, basalmic vinegar, veggies and tomato. The sandwich was a bit greasy for my liking. My friend ordered the Amelia and she said the sausage was plain. Maybe we just ordered the wrong dishes, but we were not overly excited about our meals. Service was a bit slow as there was only 1 waiter. Both card and cash are accepted.

We stopped here driving from Calais to Amsterdam for some brunch. My girlfriend found it either on Yelp or Trip Advisor, so it's not exactly a secret. Parking was pretty easy for us, but if it was much busier it would've been difficult, so watch out for that in busier seasons. It's a small place, and the decor is definitely something you'll find on Pinterest: lots of pastel, faded colors, a few old, antiquated machines that don't get used, and some books that no one reads but all their covers are the same. And don't forget the succulents! In that sense, it sticks out a bit in down-town Bruges, but it's a cute feeling nonetheless, and they get the decor right, even if it is becoming a little cliché now. The menu is what makes this place. And not just their listings - the menu itself! The tea menu is hilarious and gave me a good chuckle even though I didn't order any teas. The bagels themselves are delicious. If you're a visitor like we were, it seemed customary to eat the bagels with knife and fork, which was new to me and honestly messier than eating with my hands, so that is something to keep in mind if you end up going. I was looking for some breakfast-type food, so I ordered Hollie, which had egg, cheese, bacon, and tomato. A delicious combination, and I don't usually even like tomato. My girlfriend ordered the hot chocolate, and boy-oh-boy that might just be the best hot chocolate can order. You are served with a mug of hot, steamed milk and a cube of Belgian chocolate on a lollipop stick. You then stir the stick in the milk and watch as your chocolate melts and mixes with the milk until you're left with a damn-good hot chocolate. The cappuccino was very good too, but didn't have the presentation quality (nor should it?) of the hot chocolate. The service was also very good. Our waiter was very kind, helpful with questions, and very friendly, even though we speak little French. His English was good enough to help us out. 4 stars (standard) - 0 (nothing bad) + 1 (superb hot chocolate) = 5 stars

    Rayvee bagel

I had the best bagel of my entire life here. I still think about it every single day, I even got it two days in a row. It was the rayvee bagel!

Bagels galore! We tried the Hollie (crispy bacon, fried egg, tomato and black pepper) and the Madison (smoked salmon, avocado, scrambled egg, pepper and dill) - both breakfast bagels, washed down with a cappuccino and a homemade iced tea (mix of cassis, papaya, pineapple, rosehip and hibiscus). A fabulous combo with everything being super yummy!! Coffee was so good we thought about having another, but we were stuffed! You might not think it's a lot of food, but it really does fill you up. Cute cafe, super chill atmosphere, will definitely come back if ever in Bruges! Maybe a little expensive for just a bagel, but I would say yeah it's worth it, you leave satisfied and it's made fresh from local ingredients and they make most of the delicious components in-house!)

    Ruby + Homemade iced tea

Oof, talk about mixed feelings. This is easily the most aesthetically-pleasing cafe I've ever been to with the sweetest staff... but the food was underwhelming. I ordered the Ruby, which is a bagel with melted brie, bacon, walnuts, and apple, as well as their homemade iced tea. The bagel itself was hard to chew and tasted cheap, kinda like store-bought bagels I've had here in the States. The sandwich wasn't warm and the bagel wasn't toasted. I might've been wrong to assume that's the default for a bagel sandwich... Anyway, you're probably better off asking for the bagel to be heated up. The bacon was also pretty chewy (almost like beef jerky), not "crispy" like the menu suggests. The iced tea was just fine, but I will say I wish it weren't considered rude to order just water. Oh, well. That being said: I would come back here a thousand times just for the sake of BEING here. It really is a gem and a lovely place to kick back after day of walking through Bruges. So what if I've had better bagel sandwiches elsewhere? I cannot put a price tag on the very unique vibe I got from this quiet and quirky little restaurant.

Our server was a touch cold and aloof but it was ok because they provide you with a paper menu that you can check off what items you want. This is a fantastic concept and I really wish more places did this. Two of us ordered the bagel with hummus, zucchini, feta, olives, tomato, and cilantro. This was not only nice on the eyes, but it was delicious and packed with tons of veggies and healthy shit. I could not have had a better breakfast. GF ordered the omelette with toast and she liked it but it brought up that dilemma that's as old as time regarding whether or not she likes eggs. If you do, in fact, like eggs, this is probably a safe choice. The last in our party ordered the granola bowl with nuts, seeds, fresh fruit, and yogurt. This person is very hard to please but I do remember her being pleased by this dish. They also have a million other things like pancakes, waffles (duh), sandwiches, salads, a dish of the day, a pie of the day, and a bunch of yummy drinks. The environment is SO cozy and a great place to spend some time enjoying good food and a book.

I told the waitress I do not eat pork and she substituted the ham for cream cheese for the extensive breakfast. So often I have fruit salads with bad fruit, but everything tasted great! The ambience is wonderful. They have books in English and other languages where you can grab a book and enjoy your meal. It's a wonderful location to hang out and take a break. I will be retuning.
