We tried a total of 5 waffle places - 4 Liege waffles and 1 Brussels waffle. We tried three of these places in Bruges and this is my favorite waffle place in terms of waffle (not topping). We got the waffle with chocolate. The chocolate is too milky and sweet, so I would skip it next time and just get it plain. The waffle is freshly made. It's soft and molten on the inside and slightly crunchy on the outside. It's a delicious treat after climbing the Belfrey. There is no place to sit inside the store, but you can hold and eat your waffle. There is always a short (~3 people) line, but I guess it's popular enough that nearby stores have posters asking you not to eat waffles in front of their stores lol.
I visited Bruges, a beautiful medieval city in Belgium. I was eager to try a Belgian waffle and found a place in the center of town. I chose the classic item--a waffle topped with strawberries and chocolate. The waffle itself was good, and while the chocolate sauce was quite sweet, it was delicious. The strawberries were also very sweet and not sour at all! I was very satisfied with the Belgian waffle and really enjoyed it. It was definitely worth experiencing this quintessential Belgian comfort food.
I came to Bruges on a day trip from a cruise. So safe to say I did not have much time in the city. But I came in on a mission and first on that list was belgium waffles. When we got off the taxi we started walking around the square and stumbled upon this spot. Once in front of it I googled real quick best waffles in the city and this place was on the list. So instead of wasting time walking around we got right to business and ordered two of them. I was with my boss and we opted for sharing two different options. The first one was a waffle with milk chocolate, strawberries, and whipped cream, the second one was a waffle with caramel on top and whipped cream. The lady at the stand was making them fresh to order. She was super efficient, patient, and kind. The establishment is a little window, you cannot sit inside but don't worry there is a stoop right across the way where we sat and enjoyed ours. We tried both of them and shared them both equally. The strawberry and milk chocolate one was my favorite because the strawberries added such a freshness to the dish and it made it not so sweet. However, the caramel was a close competitor because it was fresh and simple and delicious. I would highly recommend this spot and the pro tip is to sit on the steps in front and just enjoy the waffle.
Love Belgium chocolate! Excellent place to get the hot chocolate fixed, their hot chocolate was so creamy, buttery and delicious. 5/5 Big fan! They also sell Belgium waffles and ice cream too. We had the strawberries whipped cream Belgium chocolate waffle. Strawberries were fresh, but I wish it could have more chocolate and the handmade waffle could be more crispy. Location is good too, it's a small shop located in the heart of the Bruges old town. Mostly for grab and go. Easy to find, you can't miss it. It was a little bit of a wait, but overall it was a good treat on a cold winter day. Worth a try!
This popular waffle stall is located on a busy walking lane between the Market Square and De Burg. They advertise the liege waffle heavily on their menu boards. We went for a classic liege waffle (€3,00) and a chcolat chaud. The pearls of sugar were generously inserted throughout so our waffle was not without a crisp -- delicious! In addition, the hot chocolate was a joy with its thick buttery consistency. They do have more decadent offerings that come pre-fixed with various sweet toppings, but the classic is your best bet for simple, quick breakfast to fuel you along your morning walk.
Absolutely one of the best Belgian waffles I have ever had. Wish this was available here in the states. Service was quick. No place to sit down and eat which is why I gave it a four star. It's a bit hard to eat while standing in the crowd and since it is just in the open air it can get loud. But despite that I would eat this again without a doubt.
The chocolate liege waffle at Chez Albert was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten! The texture of the waffle was perfect, soft and warm with the delicious sugary crust. The warm melted chocolate (hello- it's Belgium! Of course the chocolate is amazing!) and fresh strawberries were the perfect compliment. I loved our visit to Bruges, and Chez Albert was a great treat in a beautiful place! read more
Not sure how authentic this place is, given I'm a stupid tourist, but I really enjoyed this treat. The waffle itself was the star. Golden brown exterior, with a slight crunch, and a soft doughy interior, which wasn't too sweet. Conversely, the toppings were a little too sweet (and excessive) for my taste. That said, I would def eat another one, and surely recommend it. read more

"The" go-to for Liege Waffles in Bruges, and perhaps Belgium as a whole, it was having passed Chez Albert in favor of Go.fre on Tuesday that I noted the small storefront's location, the idea of saving the "best for last" paying off well as the texture of this Gaufre really is quite special. Now spreading its fanbase to Gent, the original at Breidelstraat 16 always seeming to have a line of at least one or two, Chez Albert's space actually spreads quite a way back from the window at which customers are encouraged to 'order by number' and with as €2.50 invested one can walk away with a piping hot piece of dough with a perfectly crisp exterior and stretchy center pocked in Sugar Pearls. Deciding eventually on a few upgrades, melted Chocolate offered as Milk or Dark, it was at a cash-only cost of just €4.50 that the small cardboard tray was filled by the famous result of yeast, flour, eggs, salt and butter, a light Vanilla note detectable even beneath all the toppings as the silly little fork was cast aside in favor of making a mess of hands and pavement, eating straight from the liner. read more

The first time I had a Chez Albert waffle was during my visit to Brugge over 10 years ago. I dreamt of those waffles until I was lucky enough to return this year..... These were my favorite Liege waffles during our visit to Belgium. We had one every day during our stay in Brugge. They are amazing plain, and divine with dark chocolate. Do yourself a favor and eat these NOW!!!! read more
Chez Albert is a nice option for a traditional Belgian waffle in charming downtown Bruges. Their waffles are all the Liege style (a bit denser and chewier vs. the Brussels style). The area is a bit touristy, but the waffle was tasty and reasonably priced. Overall a good little shop for a waffle to go. read more

All men are created equal, but the same doesn't apply to waffles. There were 10 people in line in front of me and I was shocked to see them vacuuming each waffle maker and making fresh waffle after fresh waffle (many waffle stands just reheat pre-made waffles - trust me, you can taste the difference). I went with a plain waffle at €2.50 and ate it off to side (savoring each caramelized sweet bite). Every time someone came too close, they received death stares....nothing was going to interfere with me finishing my new found favorite waffle. Thank you, Chez Albert....whoever you are. read more
On a quick weekend trip to Bruges, I was determined to find the very best waffle in town. Chez Albert was my very first stop; it also turned out to be my favorite waffle of the weekend. It was everything I wanted in a waffle - thick and freshly made with a sugary crunch and topped with rich chocolate. It was fantastic. I had stumbled onto the unassuming Chez Albert by chance, so I tried several other waffles during the rest of my weekend thinking that a fancier cafe would be just as good. None of the other waffles I tried lived up to Chez Albert. In fact, they were rather disappointing in comparison, so naturally I returned to Chez Albert for one last waffle before catching the train out of town. The second waffle was just as good... in fact, it may have been even a little better than the first! If you find yourself on a waffle mission like I did, this is the place. read more

Of course I can here because of the Yelp reviews. I suggest you go cray and get the chocolate with strawberries and whipped cream. The waffles are made in front of you, so they're fresh as can be, and they're almost a bit crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside. So good. I'm a professional waffle expert so I know what I'm talking about. JK not really but I know if something tastes good. Huzzzzaaahhh! read more

One of the cheapest place to get amazing Belgian waffles. A little sweet for me, but definitely a must try. Prices for waffles range from €2 (plain) to €4.80 (with strawberries) to around €8 (strawberries, chocolate, and whipped cream). The cashier I worked with spoke excellent English, the only downside is there isn't really any seating inside the store, most customers eat while waking. Unfortunate, because I'm my experience it rains here A LOT read more

Touristy but who cares! The plan was to pig out on waffles and chocolate and I refused to deviate from that! Liege waffles were dressed up nicely for a shot against the perfect Bruges backdrop. No reason to skimp while on vacation so got mine topped with chocolate, whipped cream and strawberries. It was heavenly. Definitely on the sweeter side, so eat slowly and savor every bite. Can get hectic but they move pretty fast taking orders and serving you from the window. Not a bad snack to take in the fairy tale that is Bruges with! read more

Chez Albert is a storefront shop that specializes in Belgian waffles. It is located near the heart of the city and a short distance from Markt and Heilig-Bloedbasiliek. There was quite a line for the waffles, so you know they must be good. If you think that they are a bit pricy, even the plain Liège waffle (€2,50) is delicious! Pricing depends on what toppings you want (whipped cream, fresh fruit, chocolate sauce, caramel). We ordered 5 waffles: one Luikse Wafel (Liège waffle), two Luikse Wafel met Aardbeien + Chocolade Saus (Liège waffle w/strawberries & chocolate sauce; €5,50), one Luikse Wafel met Aardbeien (Liège waffle w/strawberries; €4,50), and one Luikse Wafel met Kersen (Liège waffle w/cherries; €4,50). The waffles, warm and dense, and with the fresh strawberries and melted chocolate on top, was such a treat to my taste buds!! Definitely a must try when in Bruges. Since there's no tables or seats, these waffles are meant as a great on the go snack while touring the city. read more
So I was skeptical about why everyone was walking around eating waffles. I mean could they really be that good? I had shared a waffle at breakfast with my husband and while it was tasty it wasn't anything that I couldn't have in the states. That's because I hadn't been to Chez Albert. This was easily the best street food we ate! I got a plain waffle and my husband got one with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. I should have gotten whipped cream on mine, but because there was so much on my hubby's, I could just dip mine into his. The texture is totally different- it's almost caramelized on the outside and still a bit gooey in the middle. Not in a raw batter way- just like it's full of butter and diabetes. The ladies working the counter were very friendly. Don't be tempted by the hundred other places slinging waffles. This is the best one in Brugge hands down! read more
This is what you're looking for in a Belgian waffle. It is unlike any waffle I have had in the U.S. I couldn't stop coming here! The waffle on its own is amazing but they also have indulgent toppings like chocolate sauce, homemade caramel, whipped cream and strawberries. There are steps across from the shop that you can sit on to eat your waffle. It is just a walk up window so no seating inside. read more

The waffles are perfect. Sweet, crunchy, hot and fresh. We probably could have done without the chocolate, whipped cream and strawberries, but since they said it was too cold for ice cream, why not? Very sweet indulgent treat after a delicious lunch. If we had more time in Brugge, we probably would have gone back for another waffle. read more

This waffle stand was a short walk from our hotel. We ordered a Carmel and a cherry. Both were delicious! I'd highly recommend. I just wish they had tables to sit down. read more

We're more familiar with the Liégeoise gaufres (waffles) and Chez Albert provides a perfect outlet for our cravings. There was no line at 5:30 pm, our waffles were fresh, fluffy, and fast. I am not sure why people cover this treat with so many toppings. Stay natural and enjoy the caramelized sugar that enhances the texture of this treat. This is a window take-away place, so find a seat on nearby steps or join everyone on the ground in front of the Burg (City Hall) around the corner. read more

Being what I consider a waffle aficionado this was our first stop in Bruge, upon recommendation from a friend. Got a dark chocolate the first day, and came back before leaving on the second day for a caramel sauce. Yum! read more
