As others have said- it's not a sit down establishment. You order at the window and it was a card only payment, no cash. There seems to always be a long line. However do not let this deter you. They are highly efficient and have a system therefore the wait goes fast. Just be sure to be situationally aware. It's along a busy street where a lot of horse carriage rides transit, so don't hang out in the street. Also, be mindful to step aside once you place your order (probably to the left facing the order window, but do not block the walkway that allows the employees to deliver your order. They call out your number and it's hot and fresh. There was no room to sit on the steps/stoops so I stood and enjoyed my waffle. Personally, I feel like one Belgian waffle is sufficient to share between 2 people because it's rich and really sweet if you get the chocolate one. While I enjoyed it and the presentation was excellent, the waffle was very dense and really chewy. But I think that's how they are since it's made from yeast based dough. The waffles were good. The service was terrible. They overcharged us and put in multiple orders of the same thing. And then why we got the receipt and saw it and told them they refused to refund us. After a lot of back and forth they finally agreed to refund us, but just asked us to leave our name so their owner can process it. We tried a total of 5 waffle places - 4 Liege waffles and 1 Brussels waffle. We tried three of these places in Bruges and this is my favorite waffle place in terms of waffle (not topping). We got the waffle with chocolate. The chocolate is too milky and sweet, so I would skip it next time and just get it plain. The waffle is freshly made. It's soft and molten on the inside and slightly crunchy on the outside. It's a delicious treat after climbing the Belfrey. There is no place to sit inside the store, but you can hold and eat your waffle. There is always a short (~3 people) line, but I guess it's popular enough that nearby stores have posters asking you not to eat waffles in front of their stores lol. read more

I came to Bruges on a day trip from a cruise. So safe to say I did not have much time in the city. But I came in on a mission and first on that list was belgium waffles. When we got off the taxi we started walking around the square and stumbled upon this spot. Once in front of it I googled real quick best waffles in the city and this place was on the list. So instead of wasting time walking around we got right to business and ordered two of them. I was with my boss and we opted for sharing two different options. The first one was a waffle with milk chocolate, strawberries, and whipped cream, the second one was a waffle with caramel on top and whipped cream. The lady at the stand was making them fresh to order. She was super efficient, patient, and kind. The establishment is a little window, you cannot sit inside but don't worry there is a stoop right across the way where we sat and enjoyed ours. We tried both of them and shared them both equally. The strawberry and milk chocolate one was my favorite because the strawberries added such a freshness to the dish and it made it not so sweet. However, the caramel was a close competitor because it was fresh and simple and delicious. Somehow we managed to try a few different waffles while spending a day in Brugge, and I have to say this is definitely the best. The waffles liege waffles so they are thicker and sweeter than the regular old square ones. The waffle is quite plain tasting. There isn't much of a taste or flavour. It's mostly the chocolate cover you taste. I had waffles before. Bought and selfmade. Some good, some bad. Our treat for climbing the Belfort was a Belgian waffle. We headed to Chez Albert on a Tuesday at around 10:30 and there was a short line. I had the strawberries Belgian chocolate and hubby had the strawberries whipped cream. The waffles were amazing. You can see them making it fresh. The chocolate was good but only for a few bites. It gets too sweet after a while. If it wasn't 10 in the morning, I probably would have opted for a waffle with ice cream. If you are like me and don't have a major sweet tooth, I would recommend sharing a sweet waffle and perhaps just a plain waffle. I think I would have been happier with just a plain waffle! You can even have it with just whipped cream for some added moisture to the waffle.
