Hot chocolate coffee was awesome, nice blend between coffee and nice bit of sweet. We had the fettuccine crepe with chocolate syrup and a strawberry chocolate waffle.

They were at around 10 euros per burger but they were really flavourful ones. Apart from their burgers, we also tried their dessert, which I wish I could have tried all of them. We had their speculoos cheese cake. No words, I can just say it was heaven for a speculoos fan.

When we arrived, we were a bit confused and had to figure out how things worked here at Be Yourself! because of our poor French. First of all, you can opt for the buffet on Sunday and pick whatever you like from the buffet. But it's also possible to order a la carte at the cash register. There's a fridge on the right hand side of the ground floor of this establishment where you can grab your juices, pre packaged drinks or desserts. I forgot the name of the dish I ordered a la carte, but it had pancakes with cream cheese on it, cured salmon, bacon and a savory muffin and it was delicious. I also loved my cherry smoothie. I really liked how Be Yourself! is decorated, especially the stairs with the red walls with paintings and portraits. There is some extra seating area on the first floor. And the lavatory room here is called "Pipi room". The staff at Be Yourself is very young, they could be students or maybe scholars. The staff is very friendly and they tried to accomodate us by speaking to us in English. Because even though we tried our best, our French was really poor, especially the morning after hanging out at the wine bar all night.

Did you say €3 spaghetti? Is it good?…read more Okay, they weren't serving spaghetti when I was there, I could not ask why. I heard from locals that it was good. Instead, this review is on the €3 appletaart, tea, the employees, customers, and the shop itself. Instead of sitting outside, I encourage you to sit inside and get comfortable. It is very cozy. The waitress who served me was very prompt, spoke good English, and apologized for not having the spaghetti that time. I had a late afternoon snack instead [of early dinner]. I had tea with milk and apple pie. My table was beside an old Dutch/Flemish/Belgian (trying to be politically correct here) couple's table who were smiling at me every time I looked their way, sharing a plate of afternoon snack of coffee and pancake (which I heard second best after the spaghetti). I smiled back in courtesy. In bare English, they asked me if my food was good, I replied 'very good'. It was! It was not very sweet and it went well with my tea. It had bits of apples. They too pointed at their pancake and said 'very good'. The sincerity almost convinced me to get an order of pancake but I stopped myself because the appletaart was more than enough. I was told that the owner (or the son who took over the place, maybe a bit hazy on the story of this place due to massive amount of Belgian beer the night before at the hostel), checks on customers. I had a middle age man come ask me if the food was good, and being the satisfied customer that I was, I said 'very good' again. He might have been the owner. He was chatting with some locals in some of the tables, laughing loudly (not rudely). No complaints on the service at all. The location of the restaurant was off the main road of the market. A lot quieter but may get packed during dinner. I wanted to go back for the spaghetti but wasn't able to. :(

This was obvious rubbish considering the 4 open tables with no reservation sign to be found. I went back later for an early dinner, and lo and behold, there were several open tables (Yes, I got the spaghetti). If Braserrie Medard wants to establish itself as a legitimate establishment, then it should learn to treat its customers with respect, regardless of whether they're tourists or not. I understand most of their clientele are locals, but that's no excuse for treating your customers like dirt. Yes, it's true that the spaghetti is cheap, but is that really worth being treated as second-class? You decide.
