Before I get to the food, I have to say that the shade of yellow that the interior is painted is not good for appetite. The highlighter yellow color is a bit overwhelming, and I really didn't enjoy eating inside. Also, before we get to the food, I have to talk about the staff. The staff... were incredible. They were so polite, knowledgeable, and helpful with ordering. Patience, kindness, and a warm smile go miles in the service industry and I thought the staff really shined. OK, now let's get to the food. I went here for one reason, and one reason only, wings. I used to live in South Charlotte and Wing King Café it's truly the best wings I've had. Now I live in NODA and I needed some really good wings. I've been to a different location of Chexs before, and the food was lousy. The sandwiches were too greasy and sloppy, and the wings were not crispy and kind of... gloopy. I don't think that's a word but that sums up my thoughts. I have to say that fresh out of the kitchen, this location served up a very decent wing. It was fresh, it was crispy, it was unnecessarily drowned in sauce, but overall I enjoyed them. I also thought that the prices were fairly reasonable, so I'm sure I will be back for more wings in the near future. I placed an online order through a delivery service because I saw that they were having a "sale". I ordered two orders of the 10 wings, mozzarella sticks, and a box of fries. After the fees and tip, the price was a bit ridiculous. I still placed my order. There were only 8 chicken wings in both orders, the mozzarella sticks were luke warm in the middle, and the fries were soggy. The wings were fried a bit too hard for my liking, although I know some people like them that way; unfortunately, I don't. The plain wings were not seasoned at all. After checking the delivery service app and the online prices, I saw that the delivery app was originally charging double the normal price and the "sale" prices were pretty much them charging the regular price or close to it. This is a large location and chain around Charlotte. They have plenty of parking. The lot may need some replacement so be careful with your car. The wings are the best. I quite enjoy the garlic parmesan. The staff were friendly but coming in the midday they were there but hard to find. Had to yell to the back and walk halfway to the back to get their attention. The place was well lit and clean. If you call ahead they may or may not have your order ready. The food comes out quick. They have a large play area in the middle of the restaurant. It's a lot as maybe this is the theme. Maybe they are a place that is big on being kid friendly based on the overly large pay area. It was larger then the seating area. This was my first time visiting Chex after driving by it to work for the past years. I decided to stop by and grab some dinner with the fam and we absolutely enjoyed our time. The staff was super friendly and helpful with guiding us through the menu. I ordered the Chex burger that had grilled mushrooms and fried onion straws that was so flavourful. The wings were so crispy and juicy and we picked orange hot which was sweet, citrusy and a little heat. They have about 40 sauces and want to go back to try more wings and sauces. Overall the food was pretty bomb and would be back. One other thing that I enjoyed was that it had a play area for my kids and that was really nice as not a lot of places have activities for kids. We tried 3 different flavors, Spicy Garlic Parmesan, Barbecue and Buffalo. The wings were huge! We ordered one portion of 7 and one portion of 10 (you can choose 2 flavors if your order 10), and we both have left overs! Add a side of fries and you have a perfect Wing night! Slow! I frequent the Sardis location but was on this side of town for work. I ordered online and confirmed my order upon arrival. The restaurant was empty. Not one seated diner. We decided to try this place sight unseen. I ordered on the phone, everyone sounded really nice, I was excited. When I went to pick up the 20piece wing meal, I couldn't reconcile what the inside looked like in comparison with the outside. The inside loooked like an abandoned daycare, with a very primitive kitchen set up. Surprising because the outside is so nice and new, and it's a chain restaurant. I didn't check the food, but when we opened at home alll the chicken was fried to the point of dehydration. I mean. Crunchy meat. It was barely edible. And not flavorful. Some of the wings were even sitting in oil. The meal came with fries--just some reheated frozen types, and iced tea in an unmarked bottle(we didn't even try to drink it). My biggest upset about restaurants in neighborhoods with a perceived lower value(on the edge of plaza and sugar creek) is they willfully under serve the people around them. The Cook needs a raise and although these are typical American selections (wings, gyros, salads etc.) You can tell when the food is cooked by someone that enjoys cooking. Ordered a 15 piece combo. Half honey bbq half spicy Cajun. The spicy Cajun is great!!! The honey bbq was saucy how I like, but they definitely could've been cooked longer. The fries came in a white bag. Definitely needed salt/pepper/anything (my gf said they were like McDonald's). Honey mustard sauce was kind of... bland. I personally liked the lemonade however my gf also stated it was like kool-aid lemonade which I could not deny lol. Overall, may be returning. It's not gonna win any awards you don't take dates here etc but when you're hungry and don't know what you want to eat, it's pretty fantastic.
