There location is off the main road so you have to park on the side or in the lot from what I could see. The woman at the entrance was friendly and helpful. I stopped here again (once in a LONG time!) during lunch...and tried their Chicken Lunch Special (4 Drumsticks), with Radish (and also added Kimchi). Plus, I tried their Bulgogi Bao Buns as well. The restaurant is very casual, so it's the perfect spot to go with friends or family when you just want a relaxing, chill vibe. The staff has always been friendly, patient, and the food stellar. In terms of Korean Fried Chicken, the chicken is super crispy, well seasoned and I always have mine drizzled in soy garlic sauce. The sauce had a light sweetness to its savor, but it's not a sugar rush. Please note that prices may have changed as this review is a combination of visits I've had over the years. Signature Drumsticks (5-count)- ($13.55) Small Wings + Drums Combo (6 Wings/3 Drums) - ($14.05) Coleslaw - The coleslaw is okay, it wasn't memorable, but it wasn't bad either. However, coleslaw is always hit or miss at restaurants. Seasoned Fries ($5.95)- Crispy, seasoned goodness. Love their fries. Seasoned Zucchini Fries ($8.95) - the name is misleading. I was expecting zucchini in a fry shape, but this was just regular ol' fried zucchini. The name tells the truth with the word seasoned because this was some of the best fried zucchini I've had in life. It may just be in the number one spot. Since it was so good, the shape doesn't even matter. It's minuscule compared to the taste. The place is modern asian fusion cuisine, particularly on the emphasis of Korean based dishes. Place is a pretty casual feel akin to a quieter version of a sports bar but with a couple TVs. So don't expect it to get super lively as such. What makes this place worth a try is definitely the food. Their main specialty are street style Korean Fried Chicken. They come in a variety of flavor options, and are double fried to perfection. My personal recommendation is the Soy Garlic flavor. Despite their street style of food, they also have more traditional options such as Chicken Katsu, Japchae, and the signature Korean staple: Bulgogi and Bibimbap. Bibimbap is a notable dish because it is served on a hot stone bowl and it can fill you up by itself. My recommendation of protein is Soy Garlic and Bibimbap (shredded beef). As for services, the waitress that hosted us during our Saturday visit was very attentive and always took notice of what's going on at our table wether is a dropped utensil, or a refilled drink. Some things I actually noticed is that she was demonstrating traditional *asian specific* etiquette and respect whenever she interacted with our table. Props to her for going the extra effort to understand Korean/Japanese mannerism. So with the great experience, why 4 stars? Its honestly due to a smaller menu as well as pricing. Don't get me wrong, the food is excellent, and the proportions are agreeable. Its just that $70 for 4 people can go a long way in similar options nearby. All I'm saying is to offer cheaper menu options on the dinner side. This would allow a larger variety of people to come in for more casual eating. As for now, I'll visit this place more for special occasions. Overall verdict? Definitely give this place a try! I highly recommend Bibimbap. I love the food, the cooks do a great job getting the food out on time. Only thing I would say about the wings is that they sometimes over cook them. I gave this place two stars because of the customer service. I came into bonchon to eat by myself. The waiters and the manager seemed very enthusiastic when servicing a table full of at least 6 ppl but when they left it was almost as if I was invisible to them. One of the waiters and what seemed to be a manger began to argue and yell at each other. They just looked over at me, smiled, then continued to argue. It was very awkward especially when I noticed my food was ready, the cook kept ringing the bell, and neither one of them would stop arguing to go get my food. Once I got my food, my waiter never checked back in on me, never asked how good the food was, and I had to waive her down in order to pay for my food. No tip was given because all my waiter literally did was put food on my table. No drink refill or anything. I think the pineville-Matthews one is better but that's just me. customer service is big for me because it's hard to find at all in Charlotte. I don't like leaving negative reviews, just in case my one experience isn't the usual case for others. But I was shocked at how poorly made the food was at this Bonchon. (I've enjoyed other ones in Calif.) It's a chain, so aren't there instructions to follow for consistency? The daikon pickles were flavorless. The rice was watery - I didn't know that was possible. The chicken wings were crispy, but coated unevenly with the sauces, which shows lazy tossing. The chicken strips were less crispy yet the meat was dry (overcooked) and had the same problem of some pieces having barely any flavor. I hope it was an off day, but I don't want to try them again since it's not inexpensive. read more

Over the course of the night a little more would come up leaving me with an extremely sore belly and intestines. I never perform reviews but I had to tell my experience. I love, love the fried chicken here. It is so crunchy and spicy. We shared the 5 piece order with rice. This time we tried the French fries. One regular order, and one with parmesan. Both were excellent. Very crisp and tastey. The parmesan added a nice flavor. We got a side of bulgogi ($5). It was very good and you could taste the marinade. However, it was a bit pricey for such a small side. The atmosphere is very casual. We came in wearing workout outfits and everyone else inside were dressed similarly. Our waitress was very nice and upbeat. She checked on us regularly. There's also a very small bar you could sit at if you prefer. The location is on the lower level of the strip mall facing Woodlawn.
