    Hakata Tonkosu Ramen
    David D.

Went here for lunch today. Saw this about a year back and always saw a line. Surprise the place is pretty small but it was pretty nice inside. The star of the show was honeycomb seating. We ordered some chicken karaage and ramen. The chicken karaage wasn't normal bite size that i'm use to. It was more like 4 piece of fried chicken thigh that has been deboned. The flavor was good and the skin was extra crispy. The ramen was decent one of the few places that made a real soft boiled egg. the noodles was the right hakkata style noodles. The char su was nice flavorful and cooked right. Now the soup to me was a let down. It looked nice and creamy but lacked the richness and lack of depth i'm use to in a tonkatsu. The staff was also great. Overall this is a great spot for a date. Good enough if you live in fort mill. But if you can travel to charlotte there is better options if you want great ramen. Overall i would definitely recommend ever to come try this place!

Service was excellent! Food was fresh and delicious! The ramen was actually quite good. We got the House Spicy Garlic & I love that they actually make it spicy! The chashu is tender and everything was seasoned well. Can't not mention the cute honeycomb seating design!

The ambience here is the coolest part of it. If you go with just two people, you might sit on the second or the third little level inside these little octagon pads, which is super cool. That is why we chose to come here. My friend got the Ramen and she absolutely loved it and said it was delicious. I got the Goza and fried rice. The Gyozas themselves were really good, but there was not enough dipping sauce. The fried rice was also good but needed a little bit more sauce on it as well in some way. There was a way outside once we were done. We had gone early to dinner. So seems to be a popular spot. The service was very nice and friendly and very helpful.

I stopped by this ramen spot and was seriously impressed with how nice the bowl came out. I got the House Spicy Garlic - The broth had a rich, creamy flavor with just the right amount of spice. I chose spice level 2. The chashu pork was perfectly seared and tender, adding a nice smoky flavor to the bowl. I also ordered the shrimp lollipop as an appetizer, you can tell came out fresh and hot. Service was awesome. I loved the toppings -- corn, green onions, soft-boiled egg, and seaweed -- they all added a great balance of texture and freshness. The noodles had a nice chew, and the broth was hearty. The presentation alone is worth mentioning; The wooden spoon was a nice touch too! Overall, this was a solid, comforting bowl of ramen.

OMG!!! If you love ramen, please treat yourself to this unassuming little spot, Yoshi Ramen! The ambiance, service, and food are top notch. The broth in the Hokadate Shio was delicious and, clearly, made with intention. The naruto, noodles, sprouts were so fresh. My server was also a delight! Promise you'll be addicted!

I've been to Yoshi twice now, and overall I really enjoy it here. Like any spot, I've found a few standouts that I'd happily order again--and a couple I'd skip next time. Starters * Gyoza: -- Perfectly crisp with a flavorful filling. A classic done right. * Shrimp Lollipops: -- A must-order. Super crunchy, packed with flavor, and easily one of my favorites. * Kaki Fry (fried oysters): -- Unfortunately a miss for me. They weren't fresh, carried a strong fishy taste, and left a lingering aftertaste. Ramen * Curry Ramen: -- Bold and hearty, but not my personal go-to. Still worth trying if you like curry flavor. * Tokyo Shoyu: -- A lighter, simpler broth. On the bland side, but approachable for beginners. * Hakata Tonkotsu: -- Rich, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. This is my favorite and my go-to bowl. Rice Bowl * Unagi Don: -- A hearty bowl with tender eel. The unagi-to-rice ratio is a bit off (lots of rice to get through), but still very enjoyable if you're hungry. Customer service is alway great and place is very casual. Family and kid friendly. Overall, I'm really glad Yoshi opened in Fort Mill--it saves me a drive for quality ramen. While a couple dishes weren't for me, their hits are strong enough that I'll definitely keep coming back.

Amazing, best ramen in Charlotte area. I got the tonkotsu ramen and it was amazing I cannot wait to go back there. Service was also very good, it's a very cute spot. It's a bit cramped and people tend to wait for a table. But overall I recommend this place

I really like the decor and service here. It is very pretty restaurant, I like the honeycomb vibe, but also felt very dangerous for the staff. The staff here are excellent and they are super nice and friendly. The food dish and chicken appetizers were great and I will ordered those again. The ramen is only ok, I have a higher expectation, but I might just need to try another broth next time.

I returned here with my husband, so he can experience the honeycomb booth dining lol... Well, let me start my saying he absolutely hated the honeycomb booth seating! What was I thinking?? My husband is 6'2"...and he found the booth quite tight and uncomfy. To his credit, it wasn't exactly a comfy experience...but what I had hoped to be a fun one. The honeycomb booths on the top level are quite hot (no A/C up there)...plus no cushion...plus this tilted back. My husband squirmed throughout the meal (see pic lol!). At least he got to experience it for once and for all? Honeycomb booth aside, we loved the foods...as anticipated. My husband tried this Unagi Don...and I just got couple of apps, the Lollipop Shrimp, Garlic Tofu and Pork Belly Buns. Not only were they all delish, they were so nicely presented! Loved the cute Pork Belly Buns Bicycle!! I will say that their drink menu was a bit weak. We both ended up ordered sodas...Green Tea and Ume Soda...which came in cans. A bit disappointed with that. Might have mentioned already, but the place itself is really cute. Not just the honeycomb seating, but love the flowery roof decor! I just wish the place was a bit bigger...more space, more seatings. It's VERY tight in there. Still, this is such an amazing addition to Fort Mill, I can't drop any stars overall.

So happy we were able to finally try this place! We tried to come here a few times around dinner, but it was busy! They do have a live waitlist which is awesome. We finally made it in during their lunch service and couldn't be happier! Everything was fantastic from the service to the final dish! We started off the night with the Parmesan truffle fries, and they were the perfect portion. Both my boyfriend and I got the miso Ramen and it was soooo crave-able. From the little slice of butter that comes melted in, to the perfectly tenderized chicken, that literally breaks apart with a SPOON! I couldn't have asked for a better dish. Big thanks to Jon our server & the rest of the staff at Yoshi!! Hope to try more dishes next time!

We were seated as soon as we walking in on a Saturday afternoon in the honeycomb seats. The seats are cute but if you are looking for something with some back support I would not suggest sitting there. Our server was amazing and checked on us on a regular and we even had help with pouring our left overs. If you have ever tried pouring broth out of a bowl into a container you may know the struggle when it comes to not trying to make a mess. But I can say that this new ramen spot is serving up seriously satisfying bowls that hit all the right notes rich, velvety broths, perfectly chewy noodles, and toppings that feel thoughtful, not forced! Pro tip: If you're like me and live for a little heat, go for the spicy ramen. It's bold without overpowering layered with chili oil, roasted garlic, and just the right kick to clear your sinuses and make your taste buds dance. I got a level one and ended up asking for more chili oil. So if you can take the heat go for it!

We had a really nice time at Yoshi Ramen with friends who had raved about their experience prior. We luckily did the online waitlist as we had heard about the long waits outside the restaurant, so were able to show up not long prior to seating. The waitstaff was really helpful in suggesting some food and providing levels of spice so we knew what we were getting ourselves into. They were very attentive throughout, and filled our waters quickly which was really nice for our friends who ordered level 3 spicy dishes. We ordered the takoyaki to share, and then I ordered the sapporo miso ramen. Both were really delicious, came out quickly, and were large portions! Only downsides were that I wish they offered more drink options for beer or sake, in addition to waters and teas. Additionally, it did feel like we were rushed out at the end of the meal. We barely finished and they essentially pushed us out the door. I get wanting to ensure they can get more customers in, but we likely would have ordered more food or teas - instead we took our outing to another location to extend our evening. I'd definitely come again for the food as great ramen is hard to come by in this area.

Cool place, super fast service, fair pricing, the chicken app & gyoza were very good, the ramen was next level!, deep rich flavors, fresh and amazing. I had the house garlic spice level 1 and it still had a kick, but a pleasant kick. Jasmine tea was fabulous also, only negative was that the water tasted absolutely terrible, seemed stagnant and was very unpleasant. You must try!, just don't get water!

I also liked how loud the overhead music was...but sadly, it was elevator music. Very dated. If it was something a bit more contemporary (metro lounge?), it would have been way nicer. Now, the food! I ordered their Doza Ramen, which looked spicy from the pictures...but I ended up with a very mild broth, with hardly any red chile sauce or spice to it at all. I even asked if they can add more chili and/or spice to it, and the waitress basically said that's not possible (What?!? Of course you can!!). Anyway, she said I can add Siracha sauce. (???) Guess she assumed this was the first time I had ramen lol?!? The Pork Chashu was nice and tender, but very small portion...and a tiny portion of ground pork (of beef?) and mushroom as well. Just skimpy toppings all around...yet this bowl was priced 18 bucks. I also hated how they didn't even bother to split open the egg. Also, I wasn't a fan of their super-thin noodles either. Just look at how unappetizing this bowl looked! So basically, this ramen struck out on several accounts. Possibly the weakest ramen I've had in a restaurant in years?? I managed to down at least one third of it though. Then this Sampler Tempura. While the portion of plentiful, I thought the batter was weak...and well, some of the veggie tempura just tasted BAD. Especially the Brussel Sprouts (which I normally love) had this sour taste to it? I was also disappointed that they didn't include Broccoli in the mix. I was only able to eat half of this. Just not that good. I just can't sugarcoat it. I was not into their ramen or this sampler tempura. Both too mild...very bland. Also...they charge you an additional dollar if you use credit card. Something I don't recall seeing on the menu. Given such high ratings from Yelp, I had high hopes for this place...but I left scratching my head. I doubt I'll be returning anytime soon.

I don't usually like eggs in my ramen (because they are never cooked enough), but Menya cooked theirs perfectly soft boiled, and I loved the flavor the egg added to the soup. Both soups had complex flavors, and we loved them. The tofu was great--thinly sliced and flavorful, if a bit salty--but I am not sure I'd need it again. My husband thought his soup was perfectly spicy. A note about parking - if you can park in the lot in front of the building, you scan a QR code, and open a parking time block. (I believe Menya paid for a 2-hour block.) You then enter the information on an iPad at the back of the restaurant to validate your parking and start the clock. It was easier than I expected, and I'd definitely use this parking service again. And if you can't get a spot in the lot in front of the building, you can park on the neighborhood streets just one or two blocks away. All told, it was a great meal for a reasonable cost. We'll definitely return!
