So slow don't waste your money or your time Ahead and sat there for 20 minutes with only one car in front of me doesn't even dry your car off. Don't waste not so much about the money as it's $10 with when you get gas not worth the time when you have to go home and still dry off your car and as I was driving, the reason I got my wanted to get my car washed because of the back showed the windshield wiper marks and to my surprise, as I'm driving home with water drops in the front in the back of the car that it didn't even wash the back window Unbelievable, total joke read more

Terrible service, today at 8:15am I went to pump gas and grab a bag of ice, while I was filling up my tank the crampy worker came out side and started yelling at me that I couldn't throw away trash in the trash container. So my concern is, what is that container for? If he didn't allow me to put trash in to it!! Ok, all previous reviews are about car washes, and I'll be honest I used it a couple of times, worked perfectly fine. The gas station and store itself, is incredible. Never closed, never a line, the store is AWESOME! Dave is a great guy, always has amazing coffee, supper awesome attitude. All the older reviews have to do with car wash. Car wash machine frequently broken and when it works, the pump often lacks paper then going in to deal with cashier takes long, long time. Definitely wish there are better Chevron nearby. read more

The car wash at this place is a scam and the customer service non existent. Paid for the basic car wash and the lower part of the car was left dirty. When the attendant was informed and the dirt was shown, the response was you paid for the basic wash that should be expected. In other words, we as a business are ok with promoting services that don't deliver and we won't tell/warn our customers that this service won't get the job done. This could've been easily rectified but I guess we rather scam our customers then doing them right. read more

WARNING! worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. The car wash stopped working for me as soon as I entered so I drove out to let the cashier know. Simon, the old, Asian man responded with rude comments like "what's wrong with you? You don't know how to use car wash?" I explained to him I had been coming here for years so I know how to use the car wash and that this had never happened to me. He then said, "Well the car before you it worked. Car wash doesn't work. Paid for most expensive wash but the machine stopped after only the pre-wash. No foam or wax was dispensed. The car still had a thick layer of dust that could be wiped off with a finger. Went to inform the cashier in the hopes of getting another code to try again but they processed a refund instead without me asking for one. (Still waiting for refund to hit my account 2 weeks later...) Was informed that my car looked wet (from the pre-wash) and if I didn't like it I shouldn't come back. read more

This is my favorite gas station in the world. There's always some kind of high-end car rolling through. The gas pumps and credit card machines are always working. They never close. And they have a fully touchless automated car wash. This place is so popular amongst the driving community that it almost serves as a hangout at times. It's the only place I've seen a Bugatti Chiron in person. It's secluded in a very nice neighborhood and riff raff does not come around here. I liked this gas station because it wasn't at all busy and there was plenty of space to pull in, get comfy, and gas up, but I'd probably only come here again if I were in the mood to light fire to my dollar bills because the prices are were about 30 cents more a gallon than everywhere else, including places that are closer to the highway. Kudos to them for luring my dumb-dumb butt in here with the stress-free , not crazy crowded (the prices will keep that under control, I guess) pumps. I think think gas station stay in business because not just because they charge you an extra 30 cents on every gallon, but also because they don't have a rival gas station across the street like most places so there's no act of comparison that takes place when people like me, who don't' regularly know the going rate for gas prices in different areas (but I will once I get the gas buddy app everyone's been yammering on about) and drawn in by the allure of being able to gas up and not speak to another person... because all those other people were smart and went to cheaper gas stations. read more

I use this Chevron across the street from my office on Polhemus in San Mateo, ca for about 15 years. I use the car wash all the time. I paid for a $15 deluxe car wash and the car wash got stuck after I went after this person. I backed up and drove forward over the sensor about 4 times and was still not working. I asked for either a refund or a new wash for another day since I had to get back to work and Simon who was the attendant gave me a hard time. He said people are always driving in too soon and jamming it and says my car looks wet! I said it's from the over spray from the other car! He did the refund and threw the receipt down. I've been using your station for years and this was the worst treatment I've ever received! Guess I'll use the gas station down the street and do the hand wash places for $5 more and get better service! read more

You want cheap gas that will eventually ruin your engine or Chevron gas ....the station is easy to get in to and Safeway and Starbucks is across the street(if you're into coffee) and the best baker in San Mateo, in my opinion. 90% of my driving is for leisure, so I'm picky about my gas stations. This is the only gas station I choose to go to and I live 6 miles away. It's always clean and the slope of the driveways combined with traffic flow at the intersection make it the most convenient gas station in the mid-Peninsula for those with high-end cars without front axle lift systems. read more

We have used Chevron on Polhemos in San Mateo for 47 years and were very pleased with their service. The service started going downhill about 3 years ago. 1. The technology of the gas pumps change so often, it's impossible to learn how to use them. 2. Today when I tried to get gas and use my Safeway Rewards. The "attendant", sitting in a chair behind the counter, said he couldn't help me because he was there alone, that if I wait 15 minutes, there would be someone who could help me. 3. My husband had so many bad experiences at this station that he has refused to get gas there any more. There are other Chevrons in town. I will go somewhere else where I can use my Safeway Rewards without a hassle. read more

Review is for the Car Wash -- 3 options for the car wash $7, $9 and $11 I opted to give it a shot and purchased the Deluxe Car Wash for $9. I may as well have just thrown the cash into the garbage can after filling up. 0:00 Entered my car wash code. 0:30 Green Arrow light turned on summoning me to enter 0:45 Inside the car wash, red 'X' summons me to stop my car 1:00 Water starts dumping down on my car 1:20 Green Arrow light summons me to pull forward to air dry car 1:25 In disbelief I drive forward and see a flashing sign showing 60 seconds to dry my car 1:45 Still in disbelief I drive through the dryer slowly 1:55 With 30 seconds left I see the car behind me enter the car wash and the countdown clock on the dryer shut off...what happened to the full 60 seconds I was supposed to get?! Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had at a gas station car wash. Granted, I've never expected much from gas station car washes but this was by far the worst. If I didn't have to rush back home I would have taken the time to stop inside and speak to the attendant. If you have money to burn and don't care if your car is clean this is the place for you. read more

Equipment and Business Systems Failure - I can understand one thing breaking down, but it really seems to be an ongoing issues. So I'm thinking that there is a breakdown somewhere in the running of the business. First, the car wash - went to get a wash, waited in a line. Only to then (after ~20+ min wait) have the system break down. Frustrating, but happens. Went in to get a refund, went through the process of filling in a postcard/form and provide my payment information; only to have the person hand me another receipt with another code. Initially, I thought that I was being given a free wash for the inconvenience but as I stood there - nothing else was being done. So I asked if I was to be given a refund or not. Turns out, the protocol (and the person was just doing their job) is to convert one receipt/code to another receipt/code. That makes not sense, and I'm use to corporate systems not making sense - but this one was just weird. I explained the problem, and as this was going about a line started to form. The person tried, but I could tell that the system was not set up - and out of respect for those behind me - I just left. Initially I shrugged it off. Went in more recently, and noted the pump in front of where I pulled up to was broken. Thought nothing of it - until I started to fill up. Inserted the nozzle started the pump, everything was check-check, proceeded to clean my windows - and the nozzle flew out. Fortunately the nozzle upon hitting the ground did not stop, and a good amount of gas flew everywhere. Here's where I really think the problem is in the business side of the equation, the manner in which this event was handled was less than great. I suspect that those working are without any real power and so you are left with a system that is just limping along. If nothing is out of the ordinary, great - otherwise, you are up the creek. read more

Went here for the car wash because my car had been hit by a squadron of birds. Didnt realize its a touchless car wash and left a lot to be removed by hand. So I paid a premium for gas, a premium for the car wash, and got a bad wash. Bad deal. read more

This location is consistently cheap. It is conveniently located on Foothill and easy to enter and exit.... a big plus!! The car wash is very tiny and if there is a line, it may move slow. As a result, I stick to the gas. Caveat- I don't often go at night as sometimes there are people who look a little suspect. read more

I usually drop by this place on my way home from work. It's usually crowded around that time because of the convenience of being right off the freeway. The gas prices are competitive and not cheap. There's a car wash at this establishment which is another convenience factor if you don't have time to give your car a proper wash. read more

They unfortunately replaced the previous laser-guided car wash with the "mark VII" which is also "brushless" however they added the stupid wheel cleaner brushes which sort of defeats the purpose of a truly "brushless" car wash. Also you now have to drive up on a bump that holds your wheel which sucks for low cars or cars with front lips. And you now have to align your car between two metal rails, but there isn't a mirror to help you. Guess I'll be going to the self-wash now :/ read more

Very local to my home and the prices here for Chevron are usually on par or cheaper than other Chevrons/76/Shell stations nearby. Pumps are rarely out of order for more than a day or two when one goes down. This place even has a small car wash facility. Quick notes - clean, convenient, reasonable, mini mart, bathroom, car wash. To elaborate: * Very clean, fairly well lit, and well-maintained Chevron station. * Easy access (right on Polhemus) and close to 92, as well as the Crystal Springs Shopping Center and Bunker Hill (which leads to 280). * Gas prices are usually pretty reasonable, especially when compared to other stations right off 92. * Mini mart has lots of treats -- if you need Red Bulls for the road (which I don't, but hey, different strokes...) this is your joint. If you want snax, they got 'em, too. Why is it that gas stations have snacks you can't find anywhere else? ... I digress. * Bathroom is usually pretty clean, and it's located inside the mini mart. No getting some craptastic key-on-a-baton from the attendant. * Car wash: now, this is a reason to stop in. Price is OK ($10 for "The Works," and incrementally down from there). It is completely brushless (apparently guided by lasers) AND you don't have to guide your car into those obnoxious tire tracks. I came here specifically because some giant bird splorted on my car and I needed to get that off ASAP (not good for the paint and besides, I didn't want my car to look LITERALLY crappy). It did a pretty good job of getting MOST of the stuff off, but I still have some crud on the window. (Did that crow eat a bottle of glue or something???) So it's a good wash for getting your basic dirt off, but if you have a larger... issue, seek professional help. My one massive gripe with this place is the patrons - that is to say, the way they handle themselves at the station. I've mentioned in other reviews that I try REALLY hard not to Yelp about customers (they are not the business' fault, usually), but in this case, it matters -- this station gets PACKED right around 5 and people jam themselves in to get to the pumps, often jumping the queue to get a spot. Not the stress you want after a long day of work. Anyway, if you're looking for a quick way to get your car filled up and washed -- this is a good spot. Just don't go at 5, if you can at all avoid it. read more

At least .30 more than chevron on woodside road in redwood city, .40 more than costco, at least .10 to .20 more than chevron on millbrae off 101 or chevron in foster city near hillsdale & foster city blvd. you know something is up when even sF along 19th ave is cheaper!!!!! read more
