UNSAFE !! DONT GO HERE!!! I've walked around this neighborhood and seen this gas station has a bunch of homeless hanging out. Not so uncommon in SF. Went here for the first time to get gas. I was immediately approached by a homeless guy who asked (more like demanded) that I buy him food. When I said no, he yelled at me "f*cking b*tch.." and few other choice words before he walked away. I was already a bit rattled and immediately another one walked towards me and started asking me money. All this happened literally within 3-4 mins of filling gas. I refused again and got into my car coz I was already freaking out. This is the first time something like this has happened to me in my 17 years here. I don't think the store owners care to clean up their $hit and get rid of these homeless crazies from their premises. This will be my first and last time here. Never again. read more

This is the most logical place for me to feed my car. My office is a mere three blocks away. Yet I normally drive twenty minutes from here to fill up gas. Why? Well, it's not the fault of the station as the price is dictated by local (city) taxes on this commodity and industry. There are twelve gas pump stations here so it is certainly not small by any means with a convenience store and cashier counter. With this location being close to several freeway and bridge entrances, it certainly services a wide range of customers from truck drivers, delivery staff, taxis, rideshare vehicles, and neighborhood locals. The two minuses are, in the evenings, it can be a bit dicey with the number of transients living and wandering around the neighborhood; in years past weekends, you'd see late evening or early morning partygoers from The Endup hanging out here since it's kitty corner from them. The other issue is that it is not uncommon for their self paying devices on the pumps to be 'offline' or non-functional meaning you'll need to walk into the store and give your pump number and paying before you can fill it up. With gas prices the way they are, I now mainly come when I am in DIRE need of gas (see 'fuel warning light'). Still, I'm glad that this is here as I'm sure a lot of people are. read more

Chevron - Ouch. - Gas Stations Near Me - San Francisco, California

We stopped by this Chevron shortly after crossing over the Bay Bridge from Oakland into San Francisco. We needed to fill up our rental car before dropping it off at the airport (SFO). This Chevron is located in SoMa, just off I-80 exit 2A (westbound exit). The exit leads you to a five-way stoplight intersection at 5th and Harrison. From the stoplight to the Chevron (one block), I saw panhandlers and folks who looked homeless and/or like the drug-users/addicts shown on cable news. That should give you an idea of the immediate area that this Chevron is located in. It's not unusual for San Francisco. I didn't feel unsafe, but I was also traveling with four of my buddies in a large SUV. A few of us got out to use the men's room inside the ExtraMile convenience store. There was a sharps disposal container on the wall inside the men's room. It had used needles inside of it. This is the only gas station that I can remember seeing a sharps container inside the restroom. It's good they have it, but bad they have to have it. It's no secret San Francisco has a drug problem. There was no soap in the men's room. My hands left this Chevron dirtier than when they had arrived because of all the door handles I had to touch. This Chevron felt kind of dirty and the no-soap contributed to the feeling. On the bright side, we were able to fill up and get on our way quickly with no issues. It's easy to get off and back on the highway from this gas station if you're traveling westbound. The people (staff and other customers) seemed fine. A sketchy dude entered the men's room with us. He wore sunglasses inside and seemed exceptionally outgoing and friendly, trying to make conversation inside the small room. Hah. read more

Super clean and didn't require I buy anything to use the bathroom, but I did. The sink didn't work in the ladies, I turned the valve back on thinking someone was being mischievous. I told the employees in case I was wrong and one of the attendants was angry because it needs plumbing repair. I suggested a sign and she was super rude and said she she close it. So I agreed... boy, it really almost ruined my mood, but I recognize that she was already having a bad day. Hopefully something better happens to lift her mood today. read more

There was a very rude employee who's name tag said Loki the receipt said I was helped by Alejandro. I was just there to buy gas and he made an inappropriate joke about me being short. It was a very strange and surreal experience to be attacked in such a way by an employee. I confronted him later and he didn't like that so he yelled obscenities at me. Speed raced in here for a very time sensitive fill up, their hrs say 24 hrs, but the pumps were closed. I got in at 3:45 am and they were closed until 4. I don't know when it started, but saying 24 hrs is a lie and could make people late for work etc. read more

There was an expensive and high calorie Starbucks bottled coffee. I passed this time, Im tired of them these days. I believe it was $2.69 for a large type size glass bottle - bigger than th $5.99 4 pack from the supermarket. This place is a dump. The restroom is always dirty. And I mean dirty. There is always urine even in cups by the urinal. There is always urine all over the toilet even on the toilet seat. Paper all over the toilet. Its disgusting. The employees here are really lazy. They look like they are always tired and just cant wait for their next break or cant wait to get off work. I know because I always here them talking about it. And this nappy haired girl that's works there the one with the weird plastic glasses she is always on her phone texting even though their is a big line of people. This place sucks. The staff here are AMAZING. I come here daily for my morning coffee. The morning security guard (who was missed when he was gone) is kind, firm and goes out of his way to be helpful. There is quite a cast of characters on 6th and Harrison, and people are treated kindly. Even when they have to be escorted out. Stephanie, the manager, makes sure that the store is clean and the coffee is hot and full. I look forward to seeing the crew each morning - MaryCris, Martin, Rama - what a wonderful and hardworking team. I cant imagine a better situation, given the location and how busy this place is. It has many pumps, decent gas prices, and a convenience mart on the large side for San Francisco. What else could you want? It would be nice if all the pumps worked, if it weren't designed to maximize gridlock, if the drivers queueing up were't such idiotic jerks, and since the layout is unfixable at this point, how about painting some lanes or getting their fleet of casual entrepreneurs to help direct traffic instead of slinging dirty dishrags at your window? With all the banners and branded signage proclaiming how good their coffee station is, and prices within fifty cents of Starbucks, perhaps coffee in the coffeepots, something either liquid or dairy to put in the coffee, and a lid perhaps? With all that improvement, this place could someday be a ho hum ordinary gas station instead of a "damn, I'm almost out of gas" regret. read more

i had wondered if anyone actually writes reviews for gas stations (which apparently they do) and I still wonder who on earth reads them so in an effort to provide a useful service to anyone really searching out a gas station here we go. Pros: they have gas Cons: I watched the automatic door open up for a giant rat who ran into the convenient store and hid under one of the food racks. (this experience prompted me to wonder "how many gas station employees does it take to herd a rat out a door"). This Chevron is conveniently located to I-80 and 101, which makes for a quick fill up before crossing the bay. The location makes this a very busy gas station at all times with the S.F. cabbies. The convenient store is well stocked with soft drinks, coffee, and quick snacks. The staff is always cool and friendly. The doors to the store close at 11PM and open back up at 6AM. The only con is the panhandlers that hang around the area asking for sympathy and change. I don't want my windshield cleaned with your dirty ass newspaper! No change for you! read more

Employees are nice, but this doesn't make up for barrage of panhandlers at this gas station. By far one of the worse gas stations I've ever been to, I was not asked 3, but 4 times! in 5 minutes for gas AND money! For me that's not a big deal that happens to everyone. The gas is very expensive. It is in a convenient location (actually the only reason I went here and the only reason I would go again), but it is terribly hard to get get in and out of. I had to squirm through rush hour traffic to make it into my lane and held up traffic to make it to the gas station. The handle of the gas pump has the latch I really like and the keypad work acceptably. read more

Brace yourself, this is L O N G - and also going to the Better Business Bureau. I came here to switch vehicles with my husband after work, cause he had been there for 15-20 minutes trying to fill the tire with air. The security guard via Securitas approached my husband before I got there and told him "You've been here for almost two hours, you need to leave!" Wait... what!? Two hours?! Two hours ago they were watching Cap't America vs Iron Man! (we have so much time stamped proof that this guy is severely exaggerating time - from iphone stamps, to ticket stubs to the parking receipt. I would say check the cameras they have, but from reading complaints on the BBB website, they tamper with that.) I kindly explain to him "I'm sorry, but I have a flat tire and I'm just waiting for my roadside service to come. I can show you proof that they will be here by 6:40pm. " (This is at about 5:30-:40pm) To which he responds "No. I don't need to see that. Your husband has been here for two hours already! (he's con'ts on about how I shouldn't be there, how we've been there for hours, how roadside assistance shouldn't take 2 hrs - at which time I'm asking him to please stop yelling at me and I will leave as soon as roadside assistance comes) I'm going to call my towing company to tow your car!" I said "oh, okay! Maybe they can get here sooner and help me with my tire!" At this point, I'm pretty boiled - I went into the store to try to complain about him to whoever manager was there, but the line was very long. The guard is now calling the towing company and I call my road side assistance to tell them I'm being threatened to be towed. Roadside assistance says "you have a flat, it is not safe for you to leave the station." I agree. I ask them to please hurry because I'm furious that he has such disregard to human safety. If I was panhandling, leaving my car unattended or anything, then yes, I understand why you want me to leave. I tell him "I'm calling my roadside assistance to have them hurry!" He starts yelling at me more. I ask say to him "may I have your name, sir?" "Why do you want my name!? I'm not giving you my name!" "Well, can see your badge?!" Basically dismisses me at which point I yell back at him telling him "this is a safety issue! My kids are in the car and you want me to leave with a flat tire! That's not safe!" Proceeds to tell me "fuck you!" Oh, really now?! I call Securitas and speak to the area manager to explain the situation and that I did yell at him, too. He kindly tells me they will handle this and he will tell this guard to not bother me anymore. I say "Thank you very much. I appreciate it!" About 10 minutes pass, I finally receive and ETA call from the man comping from the roadside service company saying he's about 20 minutes away. I say "great! because the guard here is trying to have me towed... Oh here's the tow truck now!" Tow truck guy comes, guard explains the situation and tow truck guy says "I can't tow her - she said she's called roadside service. She's not blocking anything. She's not bothering anyone. You really want her off the property, you call the police!" Guard man walks off with a huff with one single look at me (mind you, I haven't taken my eyes off him because I'm waiting to be approached ready to tell my story if asked) and walks back into the store staring at his phone, most likely looking for the phone number to call non-emergency police. I approach the tow truck guy and say "I heard what you said and I just wanted to thank you! I really appreciate it. I'm just waiting for roadside service. (proceed to explain my story - short hand)" He said "it's okay, you have reason be here. He said you're blocking, but you're not blocking anything. If the police come, you tell them exactly what you told me. I doesn't look like your car is driveable, so just stay here and wait for the police to come and tell them exactly what you told me if they don't get here by the time your service comes. If they want to check the cameras to check your story they can." I say thank you again and he leaves. I call securitas again to let him know that his guard has now called the police, says the guard may have taken direction from store management, but he was instructed to have actual store management "handle" me. I tell him I believe the guard made the decision to call and finished by saying okay, thank you I just wanted to let you know whats happening. 10 minutes later, roadside comes and changes my tire. He arrived exactly at the projected time of 6:40 and states they rec'd my call about an hour ago. (time proof there!) Guard comes out to see what's happening. I asked him "So... anything to say?" He didn't even look at me. Then a 94ish Land Cruiser pulls up the the curb basically next to my car and stares me down - I'm assuming he's the manager or the owner since this place is franchised.) Like other people have said "who really reads reviews about a gas station." Well this one made me want to write one. Not about there prices or hidden location but about there lack of customer service. The second I got out of my car there was a homeless person that ran up to my car trying to wash my windows without asking me. I told them I did not have any spare change and he looked upset. It did not worry me but I would not like it if my fiancee was going to get gas here by herself. After about ten minutes one employee was trying to change the squeegee water and asked the guy to leave who by now was running up to every car that pulled up. The homeless man never left even after being asked to. This gas station really needs to take a more proactive response to ensuring its customers comfort and safety. DO NOT EAT Burger King HERE OR GET a Starbucks COFFEE HERE!! They have no soap in the bathroom and both of those places use the same bathroom at Chevron. So disgusting. You trying to avoid the bums washing up and using the soap so your solution is to take the soap out; which means o the workers who handle food also don't have soap to wash their hands. this place is smartly located. convenient for customers and profitable to it's owners. just before you get onto the freeway, it's the perfect place to get some gas before the long trip, or that just in case when your tank is running a little low and you already know that traffic will just drain it. it is also located relatively close to two schools. bessie carmichael elementary school on 7th and then the middle school on 4th. it makes a little sad as an educator because it gives students access to fat and sugar... but what students do before school and home is hard to control. the store is run and probably owned by friendly filipinos who keep the place neat and welcoming. to them i say- salamat po. until next time cheers read more

I'm in a 2 ton car and I can swiftly move in an area where I'm relying to park and pump gas. No sign no nothing. No apology. Nothing.
