Convenient. That's what I look for in a gas station. Can I get in and out easily. If I have to maneuver around lots of cars, then I prefer to go elsewhere. This station is very convenient as I arrive in SF from Fresno. I can refill my tank on my way into town and be ready for the trip home at the end of the week. Third is a one-way street here so you have to be headed in the right direction for this to work. Seems like people have trouble with the homeless around here, but I have not been accosted. I usually go through right around noon so perhaps the indigent are still asleep. Also, I pay with a credit card so don't need to go into the station to pay the clerk. read more

This may not be the greatest station in the world, buT Yelp is wrong: it is not closed, it's open for business, and it has pretty reliable hydrogen for those of us with fuel cell cars. That alone gets four stars from me. read more

One def drug deal, another lingering stranger parked off to the side and not at a pump whom I thought was keeping eyes on me, and several junker cars you wouldn't quite expect for the neighborhood. In all honesty, I have a love-hate relationship with this station. It's always considerably cheaper than the other Shell on 4th street, and it's incredibly convenient for when I head into SF off of 280. On the other hand, there are always annoying people that hide under other people's cars, and jump out at the most inopportune times to clean your windows. But, I can live with that. So here's what happened over the weekend.... I pull up into the station, and a dude walks up to me and calls me G. (Instant street cred.) He asked me for a dollar which I wasn't sure I wanted to fork over, but based on his nice ghetto compliment I was more than happy to. The guy was sort of crossed eyed, so I felt sort of bad. No sooner had I gone back to pumping gas than another homeless dude popped out from behind a trash can. I was slightly frustrated that I was about to be asked for more cash. Regardless, I have to give homeless people respect for flattery even if they aren't getting any cash out of the deal. Here's our conversation... Homeless Guy: Hey it;s my main man from da 70's sho. Me: Nah, I'm just a regular guy. HG: Awwww shit man, I see you got a Longhorn sticker. You from TX? Me: Yeah, I'm from Austin. HG: Hell yeah, I'm from Dallas. Me: Nice! HG: Let me give you a little test... "Ba-Bum Bum Bum. Ba-Bum Bum Bum. Cha Cha Cha Cha.." Me: " ...Deep in the heart of Texas!" HG: Hellz yeah son. Ahhhh. What a great time bonding. No stars. The sign says "Open 24 Hours". I got $40 dollars in gas and needed my receipt. The gas pump was out of receipt paper. So I asked the station tenant for acreceipt. He flipped me the middle finger and told me to go away, that the station was closed. The guy was very rude. This is far opposite of the level of professionalism Ive come to expect from shell stations. I will be reporting this to the Shell upper management. Prices are competitive and the station is easily accessible from the street. That said, this station has a severe panhandler situation. I've rarely gotten gas here, but have witnessed several altercations firsthand. I was once walking up Third Street by this Shell and heard a loud thud to my right. I turn around and no more than feet away from me a pair of police officers has tackled a homeless man to the ground. I'm not quite sure what happened to prompt the situation, but the next second he was being hauled into the back of the police car. The guy who works inside the store was very impolite, last time when I was getting emery drink and some snacks he acted totally weird; yet again, tonight when I was fueling up, he acted very rude( might have been drunk) . It is hard to give a gas station a single star rating. Do they have gas? Yes. Do you want to stop here and put it i your car? Only if the light is on and has been a few miles. Too many unsavory characters around just makes this an odd place. Much easier to avoid it and hit the next station. read more

I consider myself to be compassionate and considerate to homeless people but this gas station has a permanent resident that is quite aggressive in his approach and very confrontational with men. Every time we pump gas it's awfully stressful. I try to avoid pumping here whenever possible. read more

The lady behind the counter is horribly rude. I have had to go in twice and both times she gave me attitude like she was miss high and mighty working as a gas station clerk. Whatever!!! If I could give zero stars I would!!! Here is the story. I went to get gas because the tank was empty. It was a rental so I only needed a little to get it back to the rental station. I paid with my credit card and pumped $5, or at least that's what the pump said. As I" drove off down the street, the gas light then popped on again. I freaking paid 5 bucks for gas and my gas went down. What a rip!!! Do not pump here. There pump meters don't work and I have a complaint in with the coprorate headquarters!!! read more

Very rude gas attendant who didn't give us our money back for a mis charge when the machine was broken.

Company (AirServ I believe) refuses to clear the forecourt of panhandlers (present 60% of the time I've been there), charges for air/water and yet provides an extremely inaccurate air pressure gauge, and finally this morning charged my credit card twice ($3.00) to use the air machine once (posted price $1.50). This is the review it deserves. Buy your gas here if you like, but avoid everything else, and keep an eye out for panhandlers - do not leave your car unlocked on the forecourt. read more

Parked my car in the air fill up area to pick up gas for my motorcycle shop. While parked, my car battery died. When I went into the food mart to ask for help, I was told that I could either buy jumper cables (and then ask another patron for help) or if I wanted to walk the TWO BLOCKS to my shop for a jumper box, they would have my car towed. "Well, what am I supposed to do then?" I asked the guy. He shook his head and shrugged. Seriously.
