Wow, this Chevron at Foothill Crossing shopping center is like a model gas station. If only the gas prices were a bit lower, it would be perfect! This is the Chevron station at the busy crossroads of Foothill Expressway and Homestead Road in Los Altos, CA. It's also very close to I-280 ramps. The junction for I-280 & Rt 85 is nearby. I was there on a Thursday evening to meetup with a coworker. While I was waiting, I got some gas, snacks, a soda, and chatted with the cashier. The man working there was nice, and we talked about other gas stations, and who sells Top Tier fuels. The gas station was very clean and organized. I paid with a credit card, and he noted that they don't charge a fee for credit card use. He agreed that their gas prices are high, but they're in Los Altos and this is a prime location. Also, the restroom is on the outside and it was clean. Lots of parking. Maybe it's different in the daytime with a Trader Joe's store right next door. Note: Station has a Smog Check shop. The gas here is typically 10-15 cents more expensive than other gas stations nearby -- but then there aren't really any gas stations that close by so you're paying for the convenience of being close to 280, 85 and Foothill. The pumps are almost always busy but there's rarely much of a line. Lots of people get confused on which way they should enter the line so occasionally you'll see cars scattered every which way. They have a machine in one corner with free air for your tires and water for your wipers. It's a nice touch because you don't see that at most stations anymore. We've had our cars smogged here a few times and were quite pleased. The technician is helpful and the service is speedy. If you pay cash, you get a discount. He even took a competitor's coupon. While I've been to this location many times, I've never actually been inside. It looks like it's a well-stocked quick mart. They have diesel, if that's your thing. read more

On 09/29/21 when to fueled my car and wanted to use the restroom. In the convenience store were a cashier and a senior purchasing. I asked the cashier if the restroom is inside available and she just ignored me. Just the senior with purchase answer me. Said to the cashier if she deaf or no English speaking person and she told me that the "ununiformed senior employee" is telling me so..I said to her I was asking her as employee not the senior that looked like costumer or homeless and she yelled at me saying I deshonored people, and she gonna report me threated me gonna call the police about I said to the senior.. what a terrible costumer service this hired unprofessional people!! read more

Rude owner. Expensive gas. Watch out for using your Safeway reward at this location. Their pump takes your Safeway reward card, and then cancel your transaction. When you try again, it tells you you have no reward left and then the owner pretends he doesn't know what you are talking about. Gobbled up my points and would not honor the discount. Fraudulent! His loss, I left and got gas down the road at a different place. Cheaper anyway. read more

Shockingly clean restrooms for outdoor gas station restrooms. Relatively polite staff for a gas station. Gas is expensive but look at where you are. What did you expect? Also, you want a non-pee-stained/smelling rest stop and an attendant who won't yell at you or you want cheap gas? I really hate to do this, but, as is the case with my other reviews, I need to be honest and upfront. As I drove through the shopping center the other night, I happened to take a closer look at their prices. Out of curiosity, I drove over to the other Chevron I usually go to at Fremont and Mary. The prices at this gas station were, if I remember correctly, at least nine cents higher for each grade. Furthermore, with Foothill Produce and Trader Joe's being in the same shopping center, entering and exiting this gas station on a busy day can be, to say the least, maddening. In some ways, I have to give the owners credit for their creative reasoning as to the price inflation. This gas station is approx. one minute away from the onramps for 280 north and south. Many people likely stop here to gas up before they get on the highway to get to where they need to go. Due to the convenient location, said people probably overlook the higher prices. I get it. Chevron, partly due to the quality of its fuel, is usually more expensive than other brands of gas. I also get that the owners are free to charge whatever prices they please. But I am also free to take my business elsewhere. The only reason why this review is two stars instead of one is due to the fact that the employees inside the food mart have always been very friendly and cordial. I like this location for diesel gas. The place is clean, right next to I-280 free way entrances and exits. It's well lit and most of all it has diesel gas. It's also in a great little shopping area. It's next to a Trader Joe's, Rite Aid and Starbucks. You can get a lot of things done while filling up your gas tank! read more

could have been a 3 star or no rating, but ridiculous sequence of events lead me to document this for others. short story is DO NOT bring your older vehicle for smog check here, only come if you know for certain you'll pass easily. as a teaser, i actually called the police. bring in a car i hadn't used in 5yrs, need a smog to register and sell. my wife had smog's done at this place in past and told me it was $30 plus $10 for certificate. i'd read up on my car, as i knew that 6yrs ago it had failed here for my wife and i brought it then to a mechanic i trust and he successfully smogged it right after this place failed. i know he had to work on revving it up and down a lot to get it to pass. i read up this time, since i disconnect battery when not in use, it needs to be driven 300 miles prior to smog or be brought through a specific sequence of driving events to get the computer, etc to be reset. i did all that yesterday, took me like 3hrs... so i get to this place today, i'm told it's $80... i negotiate it down to a reluctant $60. it's great, 10min later he's done. but wait, it failed... he tells me my car is too old, i need to call a state referee to get a pass since it wont talk to his smog equipment and proceeds to tell me it shouldn't be a surprise because the car failed there 6yrs ago. well, to me, it just means i didn't drive it enough yet and maybe should just bring it to my guy again (much further from house so would have rather not). i say ok and want to leave but then am told $60 again? a bit of an argument ensues and i think we agree on $30 to get me out of there with effectively no service but now 15min of his time. however, time to pay in shop, $60... i call him over, in Vietnamese they talk and i'm told $60 by him now too. i now say just give me my damn keys, call the cops if you want but i'm not paying $60. it's behind glass, i know if i go grab the keys, i'm probably going to get in real trouble, so instead i argue. he argues, it goes on for awhile and he tells me he'll call the cops if i don't pay. i said i'd save him the trouble and proceeded to call the cops myself citing they can't hold me here like this. cops tell me to wait outside and they'll be there shortly. then the main smog guy comes walking by staring me down. which i return in kind. it's the first time i'm stared down by anyone half my size (or really anyone since college days), i'm a very fit 220lbs... and grew up fighting a lot all the way through college. i still have no clue what he thought that would do. more words are exchanged. and he finally asks what i'm willing to pay to leave. i told him i'd already agreed to the $30 he mentioned before and would still be willing to, though now very angrily. we agree, i pay, i call the police to cancel, i go to "my guy", he laughs about this call the referee thing as he said it just needs to be smogged and inability for my car to interface with the "new" equipment that he, himself, smogged 6yrs earlier. he smogs the car after having to run it for a bit... 30min and $60 ($90 in total thanks to this first place) later i have my certificate, lesson learned. hope it saves someone else this lesson. anyway, because i felt we had a deal at $30 and he renigged, that's why i'm writing this. the incompetence of anything beyond the most basic smog, the lack of customer service acumen when things don't go well, the ridiculous stare down aside, it's renigging on the agreement that pissed me off. i'm just glad i didn't get physical and end up in real trouble. i'm glad i didn't even consider crossing that line. if you're the "new" owner in 2019, and your the guy behind the counter, you should hire some customer service oriented people to replace you, or better train your guys or make better procedures. and to the trolls out there, yes, i probably signed that i pay anyway. and yes, i agree i should pay for service, unfortunately, even when it's not successful (though i don't charge my customers for service when i don't deliver results in my own line of work). get over it, customer service goes beyond a "contract". especially to consumers. read more

Had to get my car smogged, came here last minute & was seen right away. Very quick, kind, & respectful. Not only that, the gentleman working had to troubleshoot a couple electronic issues I was having with my car - he took the time to explain it to me thoroughly, gave me sound advice, and even had the decency to ask if I was working & waived the extra fees when he found out I wasn't. I thought the entrance to this gas station was confusing. Had to drive an extra 1/4 to turn around this street which leads directly to the station. The gas price here was also ridiculous... Great place to pump up if you wanna go more south to get cheaper gas lol. On the bright side, their bathrooms are single stalls and it was actually clean; especially for a gas station. read more

What can you say about a gas station. If it's nor really sucky, it's probably just a gas station.... That's what this is. It's got a mini market... It's got water and air... It's got a check only smog station... But at the end of the day, it's a gas station. Not disgusting. Not super amazing. Just a gas station. It's not the cheapest, but it's also not really expensive. Awful counter person who claimed he couldn't help me check my air pressure after I filled up my tank. He referred me to the garage. The garage owner told me to wait 10 minutes as he was with a customer. I parked by the air and waited. Another customer drove in for an oil change- and he said (after I waited) that he could no longer help me as he had a paid customer. It was a rainy day-and my light was triggered by irregular air pressure. Go elsewhere. Watched another customer ask for him to please help me. He would not. read more

Sure it's a gas station; you can top off, fill your tires, grab a drink and/or snack and use the bathroom, but the people who run this place are genuinely kind. And for me, that's what matters. When filling up, when I can, I'll often go elsewhere for cheaper gas. But if I can't make it elsewhere or just need to get by for a few days I'm more than happy to stop by, which is quite often. Not all those stops are for gas, sometimes just for a drink and snack, but every time I do, I'm greeted and treated with respect. They recognize me as a repeat visitor and treat me well. I'm confident they treat you well regardless if you're a repeat or new customer. I've stopped in minutes after they open and a few before they close and it's always been a friendly interaction.
