Yes it is a small town bar with a small town feel. Service was good not great. They were slow on a college football Saturday. We got there around 4pm and they were very accommodating and turned it on a game of our choice. We ordered a few beers and the onion rings appetizer. It was a little greasy but delicious. It came with a spicy horseradish dipping sauce. Then we ordered the 2 burger sliders cooked medium and they came out a little more pink than expected and the buns were a little hard but overall were good enough to eat. Also ordered the Jalapeño burger to split. It was Spicy and delicious and was cooked perfectly. I enjoyed it we would come again. Be sure to walk around cause they have a huge area in the back and seating outdoors so you can bring your pets. read more

We went to Chevelle's on the recommendation of a woman who works at the Harley store we were in because the hubs was looking for pegs for his Honda. Yeah, never again for Chevelle's. We thought it would be one of those fun places that has a theme to it but when you walk in it's one of those places that just doesn't know what it wants to be. There is all sorts of stuff on the walls that just doesn't go together and looks more like a garage sale than anything. Is that reason enough to not go back? Not really, but the food and service is. I ordered the Rock Crawler which is supposed to have Grilled Vegetables, Portabella Mushrooms, Fresh Mozzarella - served w/Pesto & Balsamic Reduction. There were zero portabella mushrooms on the sandwich. Zero. Instead I was served a cucumber sandwich with tomatoes and onions. What? I looked on the menu and realized I wasn't crazy. They had made my sandwich totally wrong. The hubs ordered the cheeseburger which he said was actually really good. We both ordered the fries but neither of us thought they were very good at all. They were very cheap tasting. I'm sure you've had fries like this at places before where you're sitting there going WTH? The service wasn't good either. Sorry, but no one wants to sit and listen to the servers screaming back and forth across the whole restaurant (no joke) to each other and to the cooks. It's a very open place and there was no reason to do that at all. The server station was located behind my husband. This is where they enter they add up the checks. Our server was standing there adding up several checks and she would scream across the restaurant to another server that she needed x amount of beers, or whatever drinks someone else was having, Then server #2 would scream back. Then the bartender got in on it and all three were screaming back and forth. And all of them were yelling at the cooks about various orders and how long they would be. Walk up and ask! And when I say screaming, I mean it. It was totally uncalled for and made for a very unpleasant experience. The menu says that Chevelle's is a family-owned place and we thought that was cool at first. However, they do need to realize it is not their house and that customers do not want to listen to them yelling back and forth. Walk up to each other like human beings and then discuss whatever it is that needs to be said. I did not complain about my sandwich because it had already taken forever to get to us and I did not want to have to wait for them to fix another one. My fault for not saying anything. I know. But we will not return and we will not recommend Chevelle's. read more

We stopped in at this establishment because the front desk clerk at our hotel highly recommended it. Unfortunately we never got the chance to try it because no one ever acknowledged us while we stood at the hostess stand for 10 minutes. It was a very slow night and from what I could see, there was no reason someone couldn't have greeted us. We eventually left and drove over to Coaches Sports Bar where we were immediately greeted. Beyond disappointed in my experience here the other night. To begin our server was new and didn't seem to be trained well went MIA most of the time and we had to walk up to the bar for refills. We started with mozzarella sticks and calamari. The cheese stickers were great but there was 5 of us and only 4 of them which wasn't mentioned and the calamari was terrible, most of the pieces were broken off and just fried batter. I ordered medium wings which looked good and had a lot of meat but they were ridiculously hot, it was definitely not medium. I only ate 1 and 3 hours later my lips were still burning. I shared a bit of my moms quesadilla which was okay but wouldn't order it again. The other part of my party all got burgers which they said were okay but nothing to rave over. My mom has visited here before and said the food has always been great, unfortunately my experience was not the same and will not be returning. read more

I looked up the menu online for this place, and the food sounded good. We came to the restaurant, and the first thing I noticed was that it was super smokey. It didn't really bother me cause it was more of a bar atmosphere. We sat down and it took 15 minutes for our waitress to take our drink order. Finally we order shortly after, and it took an hour or longer for our appetizer to arrive. The appetizer was good, but not worth the wait. Then it took about 30 more minutes for our food to arrive, and it was not worth the wait. It wasn't bad, but not for waiting 2 hours. This whole time the manager never offered anything on the house, and was never really around to set things straight. We weren't the only ones in this situation either. Should have read the yelp reviews first. Came here after the eclipse. One of us got a burger ordered med well, it came out with a cool red center either med rare or rare. Sent the burger back along with the fries because they came out cold. I ordered the tempura shrimp with a baked potato, was informed they were out of baked potatoes so I got the sliced potatoes instead. The tempura shrimp came out minus the tempura sauce, the waitress looked confused when we asked about it but after about 5 minutes she brought us some tempura sauce. The potatoes were undercooked so we sent those back for fries. The atmosphere is nice and the decor is unique but the food not so much. WOW, amaaazing food. This little hidden gem is tucked round the corner from Hayesville, North Carolina! REALLY friendly people, great service and excellent food. I had a cup of potato soup that was the best baked tato soup I've ever tasted. Tried the steak, salad and pasta (all from friends dishes) and we we're all impressed. They are sanitary too! Happy to see at the bar had an hourglass shape container to hold the bar snack and so you have to pour it out on napkin or hand to eat it, NO bowl that a ton of people would dip hands into, so kudo's to them! read more

We stopped for lunch and as there was nobody working the front, we sat ourselves. A staffer came by and seemed surprised that we were there, but was very cordial explaining that they were super busy and would probably have a 25 min. wait. That was no problem. We got our drinks quickly, and ordered. Salads arrived soon after and our entrees came without a very long wait. The food was really good, we had to ask for the rolls that came with one dish and also ketchup for fries. We opted for dessert and coffee. The coffee came in cups that looked like the belonged to a child's tea set, never saw such small cups (not demitasse, but close) Anyway, we waited for over 5 minutes for our server, Brittini (yes, with an i) to reappear to ask for a coffee set-up (milk, sugar, spoons). Dessert was good and all in all it was a very pleasant experience and I'm sure we will go again. Gave it 4 stars because of the glitch in service but have no complaints about the food other than the fries could have been hotter. We had the Monte Carlo sandwich, and chicken alfredo. We used to be big fans of CHEVELLE'S 66; however, their food quality has gone down. For example, their burgers now taste like they're pre made frozen patties with very little flavor. They used to serve a large garden salad with the burger, but no more. They also used to have a great prime rib special -- that too has hit a tasteless bottom. The service alone get's this restaurant/bar two stars. there are no other redeeming qualities to this seemingly popular bar. I was in on a Friday night while in town on business. I can tell there are a lot of regulars as everyone seemed to know one another. There are non-food positives such as the live music and the outside patio but the food took forever and a day to come. The kitchen is out ion the open so I looked to see if the cooks were in the weeds but other than being very busy, they seemed to be churning out the orders. The problem is they don't have enough cooks and I felt bad for the few they had trying to keep up. I ordered fish tacos and they could not have been more boring and tasteless. Mozzarella sticks were great. Salad(so i was told) was good too. Not sure what took so long for the burgers but they were just okay. I have had better and worse. Not a fan of the buns they use and the fries were not hot. My guess is they were cooked first then the burgers and that's why they were cold. I also have to mention that if a salad is included but someone doesn't want a salad it should not be a big deal to get something else. Either that or give me some money off the meal. Except for maybe 1 visit something was ALWAYS wrong with either my food, my order, or my check. I've had to go ask for my change after paying with cash. They've gotten my order wrong, or completely lost it. Several times i would order something i liked the time before, and it would be totally different, or missing something. It takes forever to get our food, additional rounds of drinks, and our checks. Customer service seems foreign to them. The tomato tasted like dish washer water had gotten on it (or had dropped on floor, not exaggerating). The restaurant is pretty big but somehow we still got sat in a dark corner near dishwashing room and had employees constantly walking right by with piles of dirty/clean dishes. This was a Friday late afternoon before busy season. This was our first time here. We have a friend who visits and watches the live entertainment. He says he doesn't usually eat there, just drinks. We decided to give them one chance even after all the negative comments we have heard from other locals. We walked in and the smell of grease is heavy, so be prepared. We were quickly seated. The place was empty except for six extremely loud and obnoxious locals surrounding a corner of the bar. One exceptional gentleman kept screaming that another patron was a yankee. Strike One. Not sure if that was good or bad? I think that war was over long before anyone at the bar was even a thought. And if the guy was from the north, he probably brings some class to this place. We were sat at a table by the kitchen. They use white sheets of paper to cover the table. On the paper in front of me, it looked like the paper was already used. Strike two. I didn't like someone else's spillage in front of me. Well I was not pleased with the smell or anything on the menu. And thinking anything on the menu could taste like the place smelled was a turn off. We parked at the Nantahala Bank next door. It was after 1730 and the bank was clearly closed. The only cars were the folks at the bar. There was a rustle and they all started scrambling to the parking lot. I ask if they really towed. The waiter says not usually. Well, I knew whose car was worth the most in the lot and who would be towed first, so I went outside. With the gasp of fresh clean mountain air when I walked outside, I knew that I was not ever going back in there. I got in the car and we left. I was planning on getting the Chevelle burger and the wife was getting the fish tacos. If the waiter would have come back sooner, we probably would have placed an order and stayed. Kind of glad we left... We ended up at our GO TO place. Burger Boy! Three stars might be high. However, I don't feel I can honestly leave a food review. So I will keep it right in the middle. This is seriously one of the worst restaurants I have ever visited, and up until very recently, it was more or less your only option for a bar in downtown Murphy. It's loud. Sure. OK. It's a bar. But it is TOO LOUD when you have to scream directly into your waitresses ear to be heard. On the subject of the waitresses, they are awful. I believe either the waitresses don't get paid enough to feel like they need to do their job, or the place is incredibly understaffed, because you can expect to wait anywhere from one to two hours for your meal, even if you just ordered something straightforward like wings or fries. I don't know who is staffing that kitchen but I assume its someone's nephew, because half of the time they get the orders wrong. I've been served on dishes that didn't look clean. Portions are pathetically tiny for what you pay... this is not upscale dining, it is a BAR, and needs to get over itself! You cannot charge me almost $15 for a stuffed mushroom and then deliver to me something about five inches in diameter. Let's say you don't care about the food... you came to drink. Prepare to pay $3 for a beer... ANY beer, and $8-12 for any mixed drink. That's in a small glass, by the way! They don't do any kind of specials or sales on drinks except for on nights where they know it's going to be dead, like Tuesdays. It used to be you could get cheaper wings on Wednesdays and $1.50 beer drafts... no longer! They've cut out essentially all sales and raised prices to try and cope, I suspect, with competition.
