Food, overall very tasty.... Service absolutely horrible. The time it took for you to get a refill you could have got up and refilled the whole restaurants drinks. After we paid, a staff member ran out to us in the parking lot and demanded more tip. Excuse me? With the absolute crap service you provided and you run out to get more of a tip. Came here for lunch with a couple of coworkers--not crazy busy. Fairly decent dim sum as with all of the typical dishes which you cannot go wrong. Quite frankly, it all taste like it comes from the same wholesale distributors. I don't think each restaurant prepares their did sum in-house--just my opinion. But at least with this place, I'm not gonna be charged an arm and a leg for it. No frills inside but feels like old school yum cha. I'm feeling really sad writing this post if this the same owner as the Cheung Hing in SSF, Millbrae and San Mateo. I been a faithful customer of theirs for many years and love the food. Today I was down in the peninsula and remember there was a dim sum restaurant in Belmont. When I pulled up I noticed the signed had changed to Cheung Hing and got very excited to try their dimsum. I was seated by the wall that was so dingy that I had to scoot my chair away from the wall. I got my tea right away and was able to place my order. This is the beginning of my story as to why they received only 2 stars and that was being kind. It took about 15 minutes to get the roast duck that I ordered and it came ice cold I could not flag anyone to come and assist me either. They were short staffed or just not that attentive, again so different from the other locations. The rest of my food arrived 17 more minutes later. The Chinese broccoli looked sad and they cut off the old part yet still served it. The tofu skin roll with pork and mushroom tasted like soap. It's like they dipped the dish in soap and forgot to rinse it . The siu mai and was so mushy. I don't think it was steamed all the way. The pan fried turnip was so burnt on the bottom it was like eating popcorn.There were several large parties, all were complaining about the long wait for their food...disaster!!!! First time order from this grand opening restaurant, bad experience. Ordered four rice plates to go. They are very disappointed. The mushrooms and chicken clay pot rice totally lacked the aroma of clay pot. Few small pieces of chopped up chicken with bone heavily marinated with soy sauce and corn starch since the chicken is dark brown colored and very gluey, doesn't look appetizing at all. Curry chicken over rice is totally a disaster. What I received is black bean chicken comes with 2 small cups of extremely spicy chili paste. The chicken has no curry favor at all. The minced beef with egg over rice has no egg on it and the beef is not even minced. The beef with tofu over rice is the only one with normal appearance but from the texture of the beef one can tell it has been processed with baking soda. read more

I miss China Village. The food is definitely not as good. Most of the dishes we got lacked flavored. Sticky rice lotus was mushy and flavorless. We ordered sesame balls which tasted like they were heated up in the oven. Completely burnt, even some of the seeds turned black from being burnt. The braised innards were super chewy. Miss the old staff at China village. No more dim sum carts either. The food is expensive which I don't mind paying if it's good but it wasn't. Small dishes start at 5.98 now. We ordered take out on a monday night. We ordered the seafood claypot and a half portion of roast duck. The portions were decent and the flavors were what you would typically expect- nothing completely unique. The duck was very fatty so we didn't get much meat from it. It also came with a small container of sweet plum sauce? some kind of sweet sauce. I think i'll order the roast pork instead next time. The seafood claypot had squid, fish, mushrooms, ginger, and some small gailan pieces. It was really good. It came with alot of sauce which I poured over warm rice. Wish there was more veggies that came with it, but overall it was a solid claypot dish. We had take out this time, but I would eat at the restaurant. Its pretty clean and tidy. It was my Dad's birthday. I was supposed to take the family to our usual dinning Chinese restaurant in the peninsula but decided to give this local "Seafood" restaurant a try. Here's my feedback: Food - good valued, but nothing outstanding and too salty to our taste, could be too much MSG. Service - Did not feel welcomed, no greetings. Made reservations at Yelp but said couldn't find our info and said online reservations do not work some time. Fat Woman waitress came over every 2 minutes asking us to place order; restaurant wasn't busy or full at the time, we felt being rushed. After her 3rd time back, we finally ready although didn't fully look through the menu. She became impatient and arrogant when taking our order. She tried to upsell us lobster with higher weight (3+ lbs=more $$) but I insisted to get one less than 3 lbs so we could try more dishes. Then, she became arrogant and told all of their lobsters are over 3 lbs. I simply told her that let's look for one that's less weight, otherwise we'll get something else instead. Next thing you know, the waiter next to her heard me and went to the tank got us a 2.75 lbs lobster. She never came back to us after the order. We went today for Father's Day since my hubby loves dim sum. We didn't realize it's under new ownership and were excited as we love Cheung Hing in SF and Millbrae. Well, the love stopped today. I've never seen my hubby so upset and quite frankly pissed off at a restaurant. We arrived and were seated around 12:30. We saw a banner that read "soft opening" so we had moderate expectations. The menu looked amazing and we ordered a lot (14 different items). Our tea came quickly but they forgot our water. That's ok. We asked and got it served. We then realized we didn't get the condiments (soy sauce, chili sauce) and asked for that. They started ignoring us so my hubby stood up and served himself. I was a bit mortified because if I saw another patron do that, I would worry. Self serve isn't sanitary and if my husband was able to do that, how many others will also self serve? Strike one. We finally got our first item about 15 mins after being seated. Again trying to be patient since it's a soft opening. The food was coming out very slowly. Fine if everyone else had the same experience but we're seeing others get their food served at a somewhat consistent pace (although we did hear another table complain about their food order). Strike 2. We then got a couple more items served after about 10 more minutes. Then a couple more after another 10 minutes. Then there was a stall. No food. We asked about our food order only to be ignored. At this point we had 5 items delivered and it's been over an hour. Strike 3. We had to leave so we told the main host that we need to close our bill. He finally acknowledged us and said food is coming. But my hubby was so done with them, he said no and we're just going to pay for what we ordered. The host had no remorse, didn't apologize and just handed us a bill for $60. So not only do they have horrible service, they're very pricey for meh food. To add insult to injury, on our way out, we almost tripped on the dirty food bins that were on the floor of the main dining area next to the dim sum xaSomeone else on Yelp mentioned how dirty the place is. That's an understatement. It's borderline a health hazard. So we will not be returning and will seek out a better dim sum restaurant. There are so many to choose from. read more

Best roasted duck, very casual, great dim sum, good for lunch and dinner. Pretty much everything is good.

Came here on a weekend with a group of 4. Surprisingly, we were seated quickly but rest of the time, the service was non existent. We had to help ourselves to water and condiments. Attempts to make eye contact or flag down a waiter failed miserably. Food was OK. Disappointed with all fried and BBQ items because they were at room temperature or cold. Steamed items and entrees were better. It's too bad because you'd think new management would revamp this restaurant and turn it around. But both food and service are worse than before. read more

We've been here a few times since I left the first review 5 months ago. The place has been almost full every time. A lot of families and some with seniors and kids. And every dish has been great. Delicious but not overly seasoned. I'm bumping it up to 5 stars. They seem to have a small crew so sometimes we need to wait a bit. But it's not a big deal for us. I'm giving this Cheung Hing a 1 star. From the moment we sat down at the table, the waiter was not friendly and took our tea order. Another waiter came over and took our food order, he also was not friendly. We ordered 3 dishes, clams in black bean sauce, chicken clay pot, and mustard greens in broth. The food was nothing special, but Just average. Once the dishes were delivered to our table, we never saw a server again, until we asked for our check. During our dinner, we observed all the other tables getting the standard free dessert, red bean. We were never offered this and when the server brought the check, he doesn't even say thank you or anything. For a restaurant that just opened months ago, I would of expected a little service with a smile or just service. They service was nice and food was ready in a few minutes. And they were served hot which made me so happy. We loved our food so much that we ordered some more to take home for dinner. My family and I arrived at around 12:30 the place was crowded. We were seated 20 mins after arrival. We were given the dim sum menu a little pricey the dim sum was good. The service was very slow we waited a good 30 minutes before they took are menu. We received one order , then the other items came one to two at a time. We paid the bill left a cash tip. We were in the parking lot and the waitress came out after us and asked for more money for a tip.....excuse me? I left a tip on the table. She tried to explain the bottom of the receipt on it gives 15%, 20%, and 25%. I had left more than enough of a tip for the slow service we received. We thought how disrespectful and rude. Got take out dim sum and the food was good. The BBQ pork puff pastry was a little bit stale likely because if the oil it was baked in. But the other things, the taro puff, the shrimp dumpling, the steamed and baked BBQ pork buns were up to par and the sesame ball was crunchy and full of red bean paste. Definitely above the average standard for dim sum in the Peninsula. No wait but did get the things we ordered wrong. We ordered a sui mai but got a taro puff. No list in taste but would have liked them to get the order right. For that and the BBQ puff pastry, I gave it s 4 star. Next time we'll try dining in person and see how the service is. The food is a solid 4 - 5 stars. The service is barely 2 stars. Went in early today to have dim sum. Was the second table seated in a uncrowded restaurant. Filled out our order form quickly and the wait staff took it immediately. Within minutes two of our desserts arrived first. Not exactly the order of food we expected. Thereafter nothing arrived at our table after 30 minutes of waiting. We ordered 7 dishes. I got the attention of the staff and asked what happened to our order and he looked at our order and walked away from the table without any explanation. After 5 minutes someone brought back 1 dish! 20 more minutes go by and still no more food. I talked to the staff again and they brought out two more dishes. After a few more back and forths with the staff we finally got all our food we ordered. It took over an hour and 20 minutes for all our food to arrive. Unacceptable! Please clean up your service. If it were the old fashioned pre pandemic dim sum carts we would have had our food in 10-20 minutes!!! read more

While driving to this place I looked on Yelp to see what time China Village closed. I couldn't find it which was strange. Then I thought maybe it closed down. Arrived and saw that it was now Cheung Hing. I thought it was cool since other Cheung Hings are tasty and reasonably priced. Other than the name change, the place looked exactly the same. A little run down like before. Nice colorful menu with pictures. Easy to order from for those not used to ordering dim sum. Pictures looked good and when food came out, it matched pictures. Taste? It's not all there compared to China Village. Its not bad but not as flavorful as it should be. Price? Bad. With prices going up on everything these days, it's pretty expensive here. I know there are several dim sum places in Burlingame now. I expect them to be high. But those places are newly remodeled and there's a view of the water. The prices here are higher compared to the old China Village. Don't get me wrong. It is not over priced like Koi Place trying to rip off the non-Asians and catering to the Crazy Rich Asians....... Overall it was good. I would definitely go back again. Maybe the chef can fine tune the seasoning in the food in the meantime. read more

Will not return because... They cannot handle getting the service right and the food out in a timely manner. No more carts rolling. Instead you check the picture menu boxes. After we did this at 11:55 am, we waited... and waited... and waited. at 12:25, we asked a waiter why the table next to us got two dishes when they sat down ten minutes ago. He looked at the time stamp to confirm and said he would check. Ten minutes later one vegetable dish came out (40 minutes and counting). Ten minutes later, four more dishes. Another ten and our final two came. ONE HOUR! At least with the carts you could eat immediately if you were hungry while waiting for your favorites. Good and awful waiters. The awful ones looked mad, listened to your request, then did not do anything. Three asks for soy sauce and three for hot water. The good ones did it immediately, filling the gaps for the awful ones. This is our second time for dim sum. The first time it was a weekday, not too crowded. The food was flavorful, service mediocre. Today is a Sunday and it is crowded, as we expected. Food and service mediocre. The crispy roast pork looked as if the didn't know how to cut the piece of meat. The skin was often separated from the meat and it was just piled onto a plate with no thought to how it looked. I checked another's table who also ordered it and it looked the same. Steamed ribs had no flavor, lacking enough black beans to affect the taste. We will go back to HL in South SF; not the one in Burlingame. The restaurant interior has been repainted and looks cleaner and brighter. I did recognize one of the employees from the now closed Champagne in San Mateo.
