Lunch Bunch approved. Our group of 29 called the Lunch Bunch from the San Carlos ACC tasted four items from menu. Everyone approved.

We decided to have dinner at Siamese Kitchen last night, and once again, it was a wonderful experience! We ordered the eggplant with chicken, Pad See Ew with beef, pumpkin with shrimp, and the calamari salad. The calamari salad was my favorite. It was my first time trying it, and it definitely didn't disappoint. The grilled calamari was incredibly tender, the fresh vegetables complemented it perfectly, and the dressing had just the right balance of sweet, tangy, and savory flavors. I'll definitely be ordering it again. The eggplant with chicken was another winner. It's one of my go-to dishes whenever we visit because it's consistently flavorful and cooked just right. Our pumpkin with shrimp initially came with overcooked shrimp, but the staff handled it exceptionally well. They quickly replaced the dish without any hesitation, and the new serving was much better. The customer service was outstanding--friendly, attentive, and quick to resolve the issue. It's always refreshing to dine at a place that genuinely cares about its customers' experience. Overall, we had a great dinner, and Siamese Kitchen continues to be one of our favorite Thai restaurants. We'll definitely keep coming back! read more

We ordered takeout from The Siamese for a larger group. The food was okay overall. One downside is that there were no spice level options when ordering, and there was no drink menu available online, which made planning for a group a bit harder. They did include a complimentary soup with the order, which was a nice touch, although it wasn't clear what the soup was. The labels were hard to read, so I ended up opening the containers and relabeling everything for my team. Despite the small inconveniences, we would likely order again since it's close by and convenient for group takeout. read more

I have been coming here for the past 8ish years. ALWAYS great service. The flavor and quality of the food never changes, it's always as amazing as the first time you try it. I have a very specific order and they don't get annoyed like other restaurants do. The drinks are always picture-worthy. The food is just to die for, I can't get enough, I come here weekly. Super relaxing inside, just bring family or friends and you'll have a great meal. read more

The soup was good, the portion was small. I thought I ordered vegetarian, but it had a bunch of shrimp in it, which was fine because I'll eat shrimp, but... Not what I thought I ordered. Via DoorDash it was over 20 bucks for a small bowl of broth, onions, mushrooms and shrimp. No tomatoes or anything else. Broth was very good. Will not order from here again, though, as value for price paid seems off. read more

Clearly if you give a bad review you are not welcome back. Forgot I ate there before but the waitress/owner was kind enough to remind me. Good catch as I would have ordered my favorite Thai dish (which by the way is the 'test' in several movies including 'hunger' ) I've eaten this dish everywhere including Thailand, so I know good and bad. I ordered chicken curry and the potatoes in the stew were hard and obviously uncooked. When I complained to the waitress, she casually dismissed it and said that it's their style to serve potatoes that way, and that if I ever want the potatoes softer (and fully cooked), I would need to request it next time when I order the dish! Wow pricey for what you get. This Thai food is at least 30% more than other places. Slow, slow, slow service at 5pm. Came here before an event and tried different things. Here's the thing $20 for Pad Thai is pricey and it's small. Rice is an extra $2 per person. Appetizer platter was $25 and it's mostly vegetarian except for the chicken wings which were very good. It tasted like tofu meat, but UT was real meat, just a weird taste and consistency. The green curry was meh. I felt it lacked flavor and needed more meat for that price. With so many places in the Bay Area, we're not sure if we'd come back here. read more

Auntie Sol introduced Siamese Kitchen to Mom who later brought me here for dinner on Sunday, February 18, 2024. We arrived at the restaurant just a little past 6 PM, entering from the back entrance, traversing through the right side of the kitchen. Not the most glamorous path of access, almost felt like a back-alley passage in Asia. Once we arrived at the dining room area, though, we were transported to a clean and charming room with thoughtful décor. The front area loveseat was still ornamented for Valentine's Day, a picture-perfect spot for Instagrammers. Below are what we ordered: Thai ice tea - Standard in taste, consistency, and creaminess. LARB GAI - Very tasty like all larbs should be, but this version was not of the usual minced chicken. The meat was in small chunks. I prefer minced. The kitchen was nice enough to give us some leaves of lettuce, per our request, and we ate this salad like lettuce cups. PAD PHED CATFISH ~ SPICY ~ This was the dish that lured Mom back to Siamese Kitchen. If you like catfish and eggplant, this is a flavourful choice. I did wish that the pieces of fish were crispier, though. PAD THAI (Prawns) - Other than the good-sized prawns, an average basic pad thai this was. Pretty boilerplate. GARLIC PEPPER BEEF - Not a very classic version. I didn't taste the usual garlic pepper flavour that I was seeking, but still enjoyed the dish. This was the first time that I have seen this entrée served with mushrooms and onions, but they complemented the meat well. Service was friendly. We got the impression that our waiter was somewhat new because he had to consult with the kitchen to answer our questions about menu items. In short, Siamese Kitchen is not the best Thai restaurant in my book, but not the worst. I just wasn't impressed enough to want to return by choice, but if I found myself forced to come back, I wouldn't be horribly disappointed. read more

Food and service was great! If you're in the mood for tasty and quick Thai food, I highly recommend Siamese Kitchen. They offer many options whether you're a vegetarian, a pescatarian, or prefer non-veggie dishes. They also offer white, brown or fried rice as your side option. I opted for the fried rice version with the pumpkin curry. The rice and curry were very good! Big pieces of pumpkin and chicken in a flavorful curry sauce made for a great tasting meal. My friend had the Catfish Curry and he said it was delicious. Definitely coming back again to try their other dishes! read more

I have been a regular for many years as well as some of my co-workers. We usually prefer our food on the higher side of spicy and Siamese Kitchen always delivers. Their food is clear and fresh always. The place is always clean and the service from Sew rin, Satid and Sue are second to none. I want Thai food for dinner and decided to give this a try. I ordered takeout by calling. I ordered roast duck with red curry and fried cat fish strip with eggplant. The food was ready within 15 min. The restaurant was pretty cozy and not crowded when we arrived. Now the dishes whichbwe ordered. For the duck curry. There is more veggie and less duck meat. It is ok. The curry is not that strong. I think it needs more soup and stronger red curry flavor. I have tried duck curry at many Thai restaurants. For the cat fish, the cat fish is too salty, and the sauce doesn't seem to coat the fish enough. The fish fillet size, I think, is better to be cut in half. The eggplant is good. Looks like the green peppercorn is missing. I see that in most cat fish and egg plant which I had before. Overall, the dishes are ok. read more

The vibe is FABULOUS traditional Thai restaurant in San Carlos! Nart warmly greeted us and showed us to our table. My gifted friends noted that the establishment could use a QR code and so devised one and presented it to the owner! So thoughtful and practical! OMG! Nart warmly took our order and recommended the Chili Paste Beef! This was super delicious! Bay and Nart quickly and efficiently brought out the dishes! The Tom Yum Soup w/ chicken & shrimp was fantastic and the presentation was both pragmatic and artistic! Loved the warmer w/ live flames. The Pad Thai was great with deliciously long and perfectly cooked noodles. Exquisite! The Papaya Salad was outstanding! And I was voluntarily tricked into eating the garnish which was a fab salad w/ pink daikon! Refreshing! The shrimp rolls were perfect! But the Angel's Wings was the centerpiece! Chicken stuffed with glass noodles and ground meat. It was crunchy and satisfying especially with the sweet sauce! Heavenly! And of course the sticky rice with mango was the perfect ending to a fabulous meal! The owner, Surin, even came out to make sure our fabulous meal was as expected. Would order everything again! I've been here many times and will continue returning. There aren't many Thai restaurants around San Carlos area but this one is really good. My favorite of all times is the green curry with vegetables and tofu. It is always fresh and delicious, and curry is creamy and flavorful. I always get the brown rice with it. We also enjoy the pad Thai the pad kee mow, the basill shrimp, rad nar, always, always the fresh spring rolls. They're so delicious with shredded cabbage carrots, vermicelli, cilantro and onions, and the dipping sauce goes so well with them. We also love the Tom yum soup in the tom kha gai soup. I haven't heard had a dish that I didn't enjoy. We also like to get the hot Thai tea. They used to bring a teapot, but now they give you a glass mug and they come back and serve refills. The staff is always warm and welcoming and we always feel at home when we go there. read more

Our family loves this place and my son requests it too often!! LOL. We love all the dishes but my favorite is the pumpkin curry and the fish cakes while my son loves the Pad Thai - he won't order Pad Thai anywhere else as it doesn't measure up and according to him " doesn't taste good like Siamese kitchen!!" It is a cozy place with superb staff - warm and welcoming and I love that is a family run business as I think you can sense how much they care about their customers. In the neighborhood so stopped by for dinner since its wasn't very busy and the menu had a variety of traditional Thai selections as well as a vegetarian option of Thai favorites. Fish Cake - not bad, could have been more crispy as experienced at other places. Papaya Salad- more salad than papaya, and little light on the portion size and acidic forward versus tasting the fish sauce. Cho Chee Salmon- favorite of the night as this had a tender fillet of salmon with a savory red curry sauce and saute vegetables; great over rice! Tofu basil - another ok dish and flavor was on the lighter side. Fried banana - good ending as the banana was coated with coconut flakes and paired with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. Overall and ok experience but probably will not return for another outing. read more

From the warm greeting we get each time we arrive, to the bountiful menu offering something for everyone (including a vegan friend), we always enjoy our meals here. Today's was especially delicious. The food is fresh, flavorful, plentiful, and beautifully presented. Prices are good too! read more

We visited on a Saturday night and the restaurant was very slow. This was appreciated, as we were able to have a reasonable conversation over dinner. However, most restaurants in downtown San Carlos are far busier on Saturday night so the lack of patrons can also be indicative of quality. Accordingly, we found this restaurant to be somewhat lacking. The service was kind and the dishes were presented beautifully. However, all of the food was insanely spicy. I ordered the Pad Kee Mao, my father ordered a catfish dish which was lightly fried, and my husband ordered lemongrass chicken. Spice levels were off the charts, even though my husband specifically requested a low spice level. We were not able to finish our dishes as a result. However, the Tom Kha Gai soup was on point and absolutely delectable. Again, the restaurant was small, quiet, and nicely decorated- all good things. But the overly spicy nature of the food (despite our requests for minimal spice) will prevent us from returning again. I recommend Isarn Garden instead. read more

Ordered take out, so I can't speak to the service, but I was really disappointed in the dish I got -- massaman beef curry. For an $18 dish, it was pretty tasteless (I had to squint to taste any "curry" flavor). Plus, the beef cubes were bone dry -- it must have been a very lean (or bad) cut of beef. I actually had a hard time swallowing them. And the portion was small (not normally too huge a sin because I think American portions are generally out of control) -- but when the curry is already watery and all you get are a few sad looking potatoe cubes and carrot slices, it's just not great. I might try ordering from here again just to make sure I wasn't catching them on an off night, but I am not impressed. New Elephant Thai in San Mateo is much tastier and cheaper (a similar dish was $14 and includes rice vs Siamese Kitchen's $18 dish sans rice). For what it's worth, I'm not super picky -- it doesn't take much to make my taste buds happy, so the fact that I was bumming hard after eating here says a lot, I think. read more

3.5 stars If you order certain seafood dishes from Siamese Kitchen, they'll be plated in a dish that's shaped like a fish. Why is this worth mentioning? Only because the "Pla Laad Prig," a whole, deep-fried pompano, comes in a dish that literally has the same shape as the fish itself! But perhaps you have to see a picture to understand just why this is so amusing.. Siamese Kitchen has been a long-time staple of the dining scene in downtown San Carlos, and its huge menu of classic Thai dishes definitely had an Americanized-bent, as the flavors were quite simplified. We started with appetizers of the som tum (green papaya salad) and the mango salad, which was dressed in a sweet and spicy red chili sauce (just like the Mexican chamoy!) and topped with shrimp. The Thai barbecue beef was lightly marinated, grilled, and cut into slices, though it came out a bit on the dry/chewy side. The house special "Seafood Delight" was a panang coconut milk curry that came with shrimp, scallops, squid, mushrooms, carrots, and green onions, and the curry's sweet and sour flavor was dominated by the chunks of pineapple. Finally, we had the Pla Laad Prig, a nicely crispy pompano fish topped with a sticky sweet and savory house chili sauce along with chopped asparagus, carrot, onion, and bell pepper. I was a fan of the texture and meatiness of the fish, but the flavors were again quite simplified and dominated by the sweetness of the sauce. Overall, while this was a decent dining experience with friendly service, the dishes took quite a long time to arrive and had definitely been toned down for American palates. read more

The restaurant was closed when we arrived but it wasn't a long wait so we went to eat some desserts for our appetizer before Thai food. I had the catfish dish. Called in to order take out with friendly phone service. I ordered the pad see ew with tofu and eggplant basil dishes to go. Pick up was easy. They do have outdoor with limited indoor service with a nice ambiance for dining. The pad see ew had tasteful flavor. I wish the dish had more broccoli and tofu. I appreciated that my eggplant basil was wrapped in foil in the container to minimize spillage of sauce. The eggplant was cooked to a good consistency because others I've tried were too slimy. Quality of food this place has is not good. They skimped on ingredients so that they can make their food and prices cheaper, but people eat out not to save money but to treat themselves and enjoy great quality food. Pretty decent Thai food! We ordered for takeout and got the following dishes... -thai chili beef. It was a little spicy but not unbearable. I thought the brown sauce with the onions and carrots was good. The beef pieces were a little dried out though. The sauce also had peppers and mushroom. -pad see ew with chicken. Noodles are a bit on the narrow side but I thought the flavor overall was decent. Had egg as well! -red curry with duck. Yum! The curry is very thick and it has tomatoes which I love. Duck pieces are decent; the duck skin pieces are divine. They also had pineapple pieces which added a nice sweetness to the curry! There was also a ton of bamboo shoots, not my favorite but the curry sauce helped to mask the flavor. The curry itself is a little on the salty side but ok with a lot of rice. Overall I thought decent Thai food. Total for the three dishes was about $48 though, not the cheapest I guess but that's how dining in the Bay Area can go. read more

Siam Kitchen is a local chain with solid Thai food. They also offer free delivery! - Pad Thai (4 stars) - shrimp was ok, noodle texture and flavor was pretty good. Hard to find a good pad Thai in the Penninsula and i thought this was better than the famed Thai spot in Foster City - Fried tofu (2 star) - good texture but it comes with two sauces (peanut and sweet and sour) which weren't tasty. My husband and I absolutely love Thai food and have travelled extensively in Thailand. I say this as I admit, it is impossible to find Thai food here in America that is as flavorful and authentic as it is in Thailand. Nonetheless, I was really looking forward to a wonderful Thai dinner at Siamese Kitchen as so many people gave this place four and five stars. We ordered the shrimp Pad Thai and mixed vegetable with beef. The Pad Thai was not bad but nothing to write home about. The rice noodles were a bit sticky and there was not much shrimp. The sauce did not have much flavor other than a mild hint of tamarind. The side of peanut sauce and fresh squeezed lime helped. I give the Pad Thai 3 stars. I'm afraid to say that the mixed beef with vegetable was terrible. The vegetables were fresh but were barely cooked and tasted like dirty water. The sauce had absolutely no flavor whatsoever and I mean absolutely zero flavor other than dirty water. I give this dish 1 star, only because the vegetables were fresh. I feel terrible leaving this review because the staff was so sweet to us. The service was great and the atmosphere was very pleasant. We were there on a Sunday so perhaps the chef/cook that night was a fill-in? I am sad to say we won't be back because there are so many amazing Thai restaurants in the Bay Area and flavorless food just isn't worth the calories. Peace. read more

Finally found a Thai restaurant in the area that would go back again for more food. The street was blocked for restaurant to set up outside dining, and decided to try outside dining. Siamese set up 5ish tables on the side walk. Staff made sure to clean the table before we seat. Menu here is quite small, couple dishes we usually are not on their menu. We ended up getting spring roll, fried rice and pad kee mao. The presentation looked nice and food was quite tasty. Fried rice and spring roll were both quite flavorful. But as I have pad kee mao all the time, there's something lacking in this pad kee mao dish, but I can't point my figure to what exactly. Don't get me wrong, the food here is still really good.
