The staff and owner/head distiller are nothing short of the epitome of southern hospitality. They will answer any questions you have and take really good care of you. I got a tour while I was there and was even allowed to taste the raw spirits right out of the still...that'll grow some hair on your chest! They have soooo many types and flavors of moonshine it's insane. My favorite spirits were the "Charred in a jar" series. They put a toasted oak stave inside of each jar so the spirits continue to age naturally. I bought a couple bottles of the Apple Butter flavor and put them in my garage so I'd get huge temp changes, it's already gotten better in six months. I need to buy more and age them like that for a few years. When I was there they were having a private event and everyone was dressed from the roaring 20's which was really cool to see. I will be back!

One of the Best Wine Tastings We've Ever Experienced!…read more Wine Tree Vineyard is truly something special! We've been to a lot of vineyards and wineries in different wine regions and countries, and honestly, we've never experienced a small vineyard with wines this good. Every wine we tasted was impressive -- so much so that we couldn't leave without taking a bottle home! What really made the experience stand out was how much they get it. Craig did an incredible job explaining each wine, how it's made, and what makes each one different. You could tell he genuinely knows and loves what he does, and that made the tasting feel personal rather than just another wine tasting. The wines, the knowledge, the atmosphere, and the overall experience were all exceptional. If you enjoy wine, Wine Tree Vineyard is absolutely a must-visit. We've been to many vineyards over the years, and this one has definitely earned a spot on our list of favorites. Do yourself a favor and go -- and be prepared to leave with a bottle (or two)!

He took the time to explain wine in a way that made the whole experience so much more enjoyable and personal. I'll admit, my husband was hesitant when we first pulled up because the outside doesn't immediately scream "winery," but I told him to trust the process. I'm so glad we did because we ended up bringing home a case of wine with nine different varieties because we couldn't pick favorites. We loved them all. Craig also told us about their wine and food pairing dinners, which sound amazing, and his wife Candy does the meal pairings. We're already talking about getting a group together and making another trip back. Bonus: they also have a very sweet dog named Cooper who was the perfect winery greeter!

My son graduated from Ohio University and we made a reservation for a party of 12. Despite that reservation, there was a considerable wait (about an hour) but that's not why I'm writing this review. We traveled from Pittsburgh to celebrate my son, so I brought a specially made cake from a local bakery that he loves. I asked the manager if we could serve that cake after the meal and not only did he decline, he was very rude. Even after I reminded him that we were on the verge of spending close to $1000 in his restaurant he would make no exception. I didn't make a fuss but after our meal when the waitress asked if we wanted dessert, we had a good laugh and said uhhhh no thank you. I hope the potential handful of desserts you thought we might be forced to buy was worth this one star review.

There was one person working the tasting room and it was crowded but she was pleasant and efficient and we didn't have to wait too long in between pours. The wine isn't great and they don't grow their own grapes but outsource them from California, New York and other areas. They do have a nice Niagara wine (obviously from NY) and the BlackBerry Merlot was pretty good too. We bought a bottle of each of those but the others were just meh or yuck. (A few even had a vinegar taste to them). But it's a cute winery and I still recommend a visit. There were 5 in our group and after our tasting we each got a glass to enjoy on the covered patio while listening to the music piped into the outdoor speakers (current music from 70s to now but nothing obnoxious). We went with "one each" of the three specials on a early spring Friday night: Shrimp Cakes, Caprese Salad, and Roasted Brussels Sprouts. The shrimp cakes were sneaky good with the small things making the difference - the lettuce and spring onions they lay upon were fresh and crisp, the spicy aioli was smooth and not overpowering. The caprese worked for the time of year. Too early for truly great tomatoes but the ample basil drizzle and good fresh mozzarella can take you a long way. And wow what a generous portion of brussels sprouts and not burned or crispy as these often become. The walnuts definitely worked with the sweet bacon, something my dining companion said would not always be the case for her. And while one can assume prices are lower here in rural southeastern Ohio, they truly were at $14, $9, and $12 respectively. The upper deck had diners taking in the view, but it was by no means crowded. The lower areas, some covered, some uncovered had plenty of folks too. Those areas are good for parties (we did a big birthday for my mother there) and for cooler temps in the summer when the high deck attached to the kitchen and indoor dining area gets pretty toasty even with the umbrellas and sun shades.

I'm happy we did, the wine is pretty much the same but better than I remembered. This time things have expanded than previously. The side is enclosed and after 2020 they had to make some changes to stay open. I believe the hours here are very minimal. I had a good conversation with the wine makers and owner/wine maker discussing where they're obtaining their wine grapes. Rustic Red is my favorite and hands off making a chambourcin taste good, such as tough wine to make taste good. Good people and friendly at this location.
