We haven't been here since 2018, which we had been here twice during that time frame. We were in the area and decided to stop. I'm happy we did, the wine is pretty much the same but better than I remembered. This time things have expanded than previously. The side is enclosed and after 2020 they had to make some changes to stay open. I believe the hours here are very minimal. I had a good conversation with the wine makers and owner/wine maker discussing where they're obtaining their wine grapes. Rustic Red is my favorite and hands off making a chambourcin taste good, such as tough wine to make taste good. Good people and friendly at this location. My wife and I found this winery on our most recent road-trip to West Virginia and was glad we did. We were warmly greeted and soon found ourselves sampling their many varieties of white and reds. Some were dry and some were sweet, but they were all tasty. Took a couple of bottles home with us and vowed to return for another trip. Such a friendly, welcoming place! We're from out of state and stopped for an hour on a Saturday afternoon. The owner came over to chat with us. We tried every single wine they had. The patio had fire tables to stay warm and the view was really nice. We left with six bottles, stayed for a whole glass and can't wait to swing by here again. A nice local winery located owned by really nice people. I visited Barton Hollow Winery with my wife on one of our trips to West Virginia. Located right off of the interstate, it's at a super convenient location with minimum detour. Upon visiting, we were greeted pleasantly by this lovely (I assume couple) owners and were redirected towards wine-tasting spot. Only one person/couple/group could do wine tasting at a time and there was another couple tasting the samples but they were done very soon and we were served the sample. They had 5-6 varieties for red and white each ranging from very dry to very sweet. It was a decent collection I would say. Each bottle was $13, while it wasn't too expensive, being a local winery, I expected the prices to be little lesser. The ambiance was excellent and there were few families having a good time there. I can surely tell that the owners (can call them hosts) were super accommodating. Overall, a nice local winery with super amazing owners, I would definitely come back to. read more

At last a really good winery in West Virginia. No food here. Just wine. Owners Jim and Toni Kelley make you feel right at home and the tasting room is lovely. Excellent dry white and dry red wines are available. Best we have tasted in eastern US. As well as sweeter blends for those who like them. Jim is a certified wine maker trained in California. They are just starting up and had a great first year. You won't regret stopping here, just 10 minutes from I-79 near the Lost Creek exit. read more

I purchased a bottle of Batton Hollow Riesling at Tamarack and am enjoying a glass of it now with my Chicken Primavera. I am partial to Rieslings, and BH makes an excellent one. We always enjoy our time there. Always new wines to try- full range - semi- sweet to dry(our preference). You can bring your own cheese and crackers, though there are biscotti and breadsticks if you dont have your own. The owners, Toni and Jim, are very gracious and welcoming (and always up for a tour of the ins and outs of winemaking).
