A great looking gastropub with great food but the service needs a serious upgrade. Plenty of empty seats but the kitchen was apparently behind. Our waitress didn't know much about the menu when asked questions. Never received my side salad and our appetizer came out with dinner. Place looks nice on the outside and has an OK selection of beer but the food does not deliver what you would expect from the titles of a lot of the menu items. I ordered a horse radish ailoli and red pesto burger and I could not taste any kind of horseradish or red pepper. I added Swiss Cheese and could not taste that either. First time to Wisconsin and Im practically begging to have some great cheese-laced dish. Boring food. Not completely bad but not good for the price. Pub Chips were fresh. Great beer selection, and the outdoor patio/bar area is a great hangout. The prime rib wrap is a must-try! The chipotle mayo it comes with is excellent. Their cheese curds "curd crates" as they are listed on the menu are the best I've had. They are cube shaped are perfectly fried, without being heavy on batter at all. They are served with an interesting and zesty take on ranch. This is a great place to go and eat a meal at on their patio in summer! read more

Cool atmosphere, good food, expensive drinks. The beer tap tables are cool but they never have any beer I seam to like to drink on the taps. Nice to go to on more special occasions than just a Wednesday night out. Staff is nice and plenty of parking. Decent selection of beer on tap behind bar and all you could ever want in liquor. read more

I visited for the first time. The Prime Rib Sandwich was actually a Roast Beef Sandwich. I love Prime Rib. This was awful. The Au Jus arrived about the time I was ready to pay my bill. read more

Been here a few times, pretty good overall. Nice atmosphere, decent prices, food not bad, only complaint is the wait staff are all preoccupied with their cell phones and it does take a toll on customer service. Agree that service is spotty...but, OMG...the Curd Crate is friggin' sensational. So worth the wait.

Went in for a late lunch, approx 6 other people at the bar at the time. We sat at a table in the bar room. Bartender/Waitress came by for drinks promptly, brought us menus, drinks shortly after and we asked for just a moment longer to decide what we were going to order. She did not return. I drank my entire 20oz mug of Killians waiting ( I'm not a quick drinker) while we watched her chit chat at bar and then help new customers who took bar stools. my husband and I moved up to the bar to pay our bill- where we sat for 5 more minutes before one of the two bartenders finally came over. Very poor service. I guess at least we had a drink while we waited?! Cool atmosphere- but won't be enough to compensate for the poor service. read more

We have frequented this establishment 4 x now. Every time we have had fast, friendly service. The food excellent. If you are tired of the same old thing around town, you should come here! The menu is unique. It's refreshing to have something new for a change. The atmosphere is modern. Plenty of outdoor seating. The only reason why I wouldn't give it 5 Stars, is because I wish when they built the place, they would have more sound barriers to tone down the background noise. Sat at the bar for "happy hour" but was disappointed to find out that our last 2 glasses of wine clearly ordered before the 6pm end of happy hour were charged at full price. It seems that sometimes certain wait staff at the bar are distracted with taking care of the patrons. Next time we'll have to point out when we are within the time frame of the 1/2 off drink special. The food was pretty good, I would go back to eat sometime. My biggest issue with Chester V's is probably the sound inside. Everything was extremely loud and you could barely hear people at your table talking. It wasn't really even the music that was loud, I just think everything echos a ton inside. I wouldn't let the volume issue take away from the experience too much though. I will for sure visit again. read more

First off, the place is incredibly loud. I had a burger that was very pink although I like it that way. The waitress never asked if there was a preference. My wife had the Lemon chicken. She did not think it was very good. The meal was expensive and for the money that was paid we would've rather gone to the Roxy where every meal we've had has been terrific. Chester v's has become one of my favorite places to visit. They had some growing pains like any other new business, but they have come quite a way. The atmosphere is so beautiful, you can see how much time and effort the owner has put into this place. I love that they carry the popular blueberry bobbler beer on tap, and cheaper than anywhere else you can get it. Their flat iron steak with garlic cream sauce is amazing, I get it almost every time I go. Goes great with a glass of XYZin red wine. And you can't forget about those delicious maple glazed yukon gold potatoes, yum! Don't leave without having a piece of the famous warm blueberry bread pudding. Even if you don't like blueberries or bread pudding, give it a try. You won't be disappointed! This place is great. read more

Excellent food. The beer and cheese soup is fantastic and the burgers are good. If you can get a table in the smaller walled off area to the side. The area by the bar gets loud due to all of the hard surfaces and happy customers. Highly recommended. read more

If you're looking for a small very stylish place with pretty good food although a touch pricy and somewhat limited men, then this might be for you. Beer selection is not a problem and having taps built in to some tables is darn cool. The staff was quite friendly. I had a $12 burger and I was warned by the server that the chef cooks on the rare side, I said medium hoping to get medium rare which is exactly what happened, odd but it worked. I found it strange that a burger comes with soup or salad as well as a side, that's a lot of food. I'd personally rather pay $10 and just get a side. Wow though, that tomato bisque soup was amazing and I'm not normally a tomato soup person. There are plenty of tvs without being overwhelming, and all the staff seemed generally friendly. In the end I will go back mostly for the atmosphere, beer, and intriguing if not somewhat limited and pricey options. read more

Chester V's has a novel arrangement at the high top tables adjacent to the bar. There are taps at the tables that are metered by the ounce and allow you to taste 4 different beers and drink to your hearts desire. We were there during the Oshkosh air show and found the food to be fine. The food and service is fine but not memorable. The service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant has a problem with late afternoon/evening sun coming in the windows and blinding the diners. This made our dinner very uncomfortable and therefore we left as soon as we could. If that was fixed, we could have had dessert and drinks for awhile. read more

Meal was good, excellent burgers, my wife had chicken and waffles. The maple syrup was was superb. It was lunch time and they were not busy. Service was very good. Waitress was always there for us. However, the hard Rock music was so loud we had to ask the waitress to turn it down. A few minutes later the female bartender turned it back up even louder. ..again we had to ask to have the music turned down. Bartender was rude and upset over our request. ..the chairs are pure steel and very uncomfortable...just like the environment. read more
