I had a really delightful server who was super helpful and welcoming. They also had decaf coffee, which I always appreciate and thought was a nice touch. For breakfast, I ordered the French toast with two eggs, turkey bacon, and breakfast potatoes. Everything was pretty solid. I especially enjoyed the French toast, which had a nice combination of being light and fluffy while also having a slight crispiness to it. Since several of the longtime baristas left, the café has gone noticeably downhill. I don't blame them for leaving--it's common to see a single barista taking orders, preparing drinks, and making food all at once. As a result, wait times have increased significantly, especially if you order food, so be prepared to wait. My first major concern was with food safety. I watched a barista prepare my bagel directly on a countertop he had just wiped with a brown, soaked rag that had been dipped in murky, soapy water. The counter was still visibly wet when he placed my bagel on it. I politely asked if he could remake it, and he became visibly frustrated before tossing the replacement bagel toward me. Their rewards program is also unnecessarily confusing. On one visit, a barista refused to honor my free pastry reward. After trying to explain it, I eventually gave up and asked for a refund. I was quickly dismissed and told I'd have to wait several days because there wasn't a manager on site who could process it. The customer service has declined considerably, and the food has always been overpriced for the quality. If you're looking for great coffee in the area, I'd recommend Avondale Coffee Club instead. The coffee is consistently excellent, and the baristas are always friendly and welcoming.

The description was unclear so he took a risk, but he ended up loving it. I ordered the tuna melt after confirming with the cashier that everything was freshly made and it was fantastic. The tuna had the perfect balance of veggies and mayo, the cheddar cheese was melted perfectly, and the bread was grilled just right before adding the tuna. It was exactly what I'd been craving. For two people, including a tip, the total came out to $34. This is amazing for the area where many places can easily run you $60 or more for food alone. Overall, I hope this place sticks around. If they continue making fresh food and keep their prices fair, I think they have a great chance of succeeding. We already made plans to come back.
