Well, we miss Kevin. However the new servers are great. We especially like their commitment to the re-opened diner. And the food is still great. I had my ubiquitous omelette, cooked soft but completely and a fresh glass of milk which was fresh. Bruce had a single pumpkin pancake (server allowed Bruce to have one only). Small town diner in the Windy City suburbs. I came here based on the reviews and pictures on Yelp and I was not disappointed, the service was prompt and friendly and the food outstanding. One thing that should not be overlooked is the fact that "traditional American" does not do this diner complete justice. True, you can get great omelettes, Belgian waffles, pancakes, and other standard fare, but what makes the food here stand out to me is the section of the menu that contains Mexican variations on the American classics. They don't just put hot sauce on scrambled eggs, they have reinvented American standards with authentic Mexican ingredients. Homemade salsa, fresh jalapeños, chorizo sausage, toasted tortillas--they take their Mexican food very seriously. Don't sweat it if that's not your thing--just look at the pictures for the variety. And just an example of the service, I couldn't decide between hash browns and Spanish rice with my Mexican omelette, so the cook/server offered to do half of each and gave me a generous helping of both. He told me not to tell anyone, sorry! Now don't come in expecting Denny's prices. For creative, unique home style food like you'll get here, you're going to pay a little bit. If your idea of breakfast is a couple eggs, bacon, and toast, go elsewhere. If you want a dining experience, love breakfast, Mexican food, or both, this is where you want to be. read more

Do not waste your time going here! We waited 30 minutes for a table after they said a 10 minute wait (understandable). What is not understandable however is that when we did get seated, it was another 10 minutes of waiting. No one showed up to take our order and the table next to us had actually been waiting for their FOOD the ENTIRE time we were waiting to get sat. Over 30 minutes. Multiple times they were saying out loud "I wonder where our food is" and "now I remember why we don't come here often". After overhearing that and still no one showing up to our table to take our order we decided to leave. We went across the street to Rhapsody Cafe instead, got sat immediately and had a delicious meal in a much more clean and friendly place. Take your money and time elsewhere. read more

About a year ago, my significant other introduced me to this hidden gem in Deerfield. I can only sum it up with one word.. wow. Service 20/10, food 20/10 atmosphere, 20/10 this has become my new fave place to eat breakfast and has become our local weekend breakfast date spot. I always get the plain bagel with lox, I know I'm boring XD and my significant other always gets the chorizo skillet!!! I'm SO glad y'all exist. Keep up the good work!!! i had lunch at the cherry pit after our refinance closing. i had the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant and it was delicious. the service and server was very nice. it's an adorable diner style place with dining area in the back. i will definitely return if i'm ever in this area and hungry. read more

I came here when this place had a different owner. I really like how this place is still family operated. The workers all work tremendously hard and the service is efficient. The moment we walked in, we were hit with an aroma of freshly baked waffles- couldn't ask for a better smell! We were seated promptly and the server came fast to ask for our choice of drinks. The menu is very extensive with your ordinary breakfast selections, but I think the execution of their dishes is what does this place good. I ordered the lox scrambler and couldn't say I liked it that much, but knew afterwards I should have settled with the lox plate. Lox and eggs just don't mix. My other guests all settled with the enchiladas with eggs on top and devoured it to the very last bite. My one guest said it was the best breakfast she had in awhile and that dish alone would make her go back in an instant. Food was okay but the service was not. I came in 30 minutes before closing because I NEEDED chilaquiles and the reviews were good. I asked if they were still serving and was told yes and to take a seat. My order was taken and filled pretty quickly, which was nice, although I have a feeling it wasn't necessarily for my benefit. The staff was bustling noisily all around me cleaning and setting tables for the next day, sweeping floors, having conversations, etc. and it felt incredibly awkward as I was eating alone. A hello would have been nice, or some acknowledgement that they were in the presence of another human. I felt like I was invading their space and holding up their day. It was incredibly uncomfortable. The guy who brought my plate (and bill) was older, maybe a manager or owner, and seemed very rushed. I was presented with the bill as the food was set on the table and told I could pay when I'm ready. Well the food just came but ok.. The moment I finished wolfing down my meal and looked at the check, a boy rushed over to my table and snatched up my plate (I thought he was going to take the check with my payment) and pointed to the register and instructed me to just go pay there. The older guy was there waiting for me, and I felt an urge to apologize for holding them up ... it was THAT uncomfortable!.. so I said I was sorry. He said it's ok, we close at 3. I walked in at 2:30 and walked out at 2:55. In the total of 25 minutes spent there, it may have been the most awkward 25 minutes I've ever spent in any establishment. Maybe the food is good, I thought it was just okay but I won't be going back. Maybe I'm too sensitive but the entire experience felt so uncomfortable and it was very clear that the last thing on earth they wanted to do was wait on a customer this close to closing. When the atmosphere is poor, it doesn't matter how the food is. Go. Enjoy. Just don't go near closing time. *I will also add that the prices are unreasonably high. $2.50 for a can of Diet Coke?? That's robbery. Also, I've had chilaquiles at my favorite place in Chicago many, many times and this place serves less than half the amount with a fraction of the taste and quality, and charges several dollars more. read more

I dropped by with 12 of my friends from the Evanston Bike Club on a Wednesday morning. The staff went out of their way to give us a good experience. The food was excellent, well prepared, waters topped off, and convenient payment services. I've been here a number of times and have never been disappointed. Nice atmosphere and overall good service. The folks that worked there are nice, but maybe because they know they are getting away with highway robbery. I ate with my 3 kids and the bill came to nearly $60 with tip. This was for 3 kids meals and an adult chicken sandwhich. The food was just ok, definitely not worth the price. They really gauge you on the drinks, $3.50 for a hot chocolate that is basically a packet of Swiss miss with whip cream. And $3.00 for an iced tea. Then my kid asked for fruit as an extra side and that was $3.95, but she didn't mention it would be extra charge. I wanted so bad to like this local joint, but don't think we'll be back. read more
