Cherry Creek Ace has become our go-to store for just about everythin - gardening supplies, propane refills, flowers, plants, and all the random home projects that pop up. We actually found them by accident last Christmas when we needed an emergency Christmas tree stand, and we've been coming back ever since. What keeps us coming back is the experience. It's not just that someone asks if you need help when you walk in. Throughout the entire time you're in the store, multiple team members check in to make sure you have what you need. You never feel like you're interrupting someone or that you're on your own. It's a level of service that's become incredibly rare. One visit really stood out. We brought in some hardware from a project because we weren't sure what screws we needed. Instead of sending us to an aisle and wishing us luck, a team member took the time to match the exact size and type we needed. We were able to head home and finish the project that same day. The best way I can describe this place is that it feels like shopping in a different era - in the best possible way. Everyone genuinely seems to care that you have a great experience and leave with the right solution. That's not something you find very often anymore. More than not good. Have tried repeatedly to shop there, same basic experience. First, large employee turnover. Obviously a journeyman position until the person finds something better with more pay. Never the same person when I come in. Now, on to products and service. Came in today for a spark plug check. First thing was to check the gap, go back, start the machine. I suspected the plug was bad, but started with this. Well guess what, they sell spark plugs, but don't have a gap tool! I commented to the person every machine is different, it does not come off the assembly line correct with this. She just looked at me like I was more than crazy. Did not even offer to help me find a replacement plug. Popcorn hour for the staff? I went to the auto parts store, simple gap tool for reasonable price. If I need building or hardware, I just go to Lowes or HomeDepot. The problem is they cannot connect the dots on a project. Part of that is they don't keep good staff, and that is what I come here for, advice and direction. And, they are frequently out of needed items. Park at the front, walk right in, grab the things you need or get a help from someone nearby and pay and out the door. Yes, pricing is lil higher, sometimes not too many options but if you need to get it done quickly, this is the best option for you. Yes, there is HD nearby but that is at least 10 minutes away and parking and searching hassle will definitely eat up your time. If the time is essence, this is the place to save time. They told me that they could not cut s let blank that I already own. However, other Ave Hardware stores do cut key blanks. They want over $200 for their "service". Go some place else, it's no wonder Ace is a dying company. Amazing that I found an actual locksmith who cut both keys for $95 the same day. Wow, nothing exploded, nothing fell apart, they just performed a task. Too bad greed drives businesses to the point of NOT providing service. ACE is NOT the place for anything any more. read more

Great service and super helpful staff! This location is about two blocks from my house which is convenient if I have an unexpected repair or home issue. The store has a large selection of pretty much anything you might need minus a lumber yard. I like the option to order online and pickup same day but several times items I've ordered weren't actually in stock like the website showed which was frustrating but the team always tries to offer a replacement if possible. Prices are quite a bit higher than your larger home repair stores and limited for some item selections...but if you have a coupon it sometimes helps offset that cost difference. Make sure you download the app for additional coupons not mentioned otherwise too! I appreciate the customer service and convenience so keep up the great work! read more

I ran into Ace to get some brass fittings to replace an old gas log set for a fireplace. Jason pulled the fittings from my old valve and put them in the new valve AT NO CHARGE. Talk about going above and beyond for customer service! I had excitedly bought a new lawn mower ($185) after purchasing my first home and could not be bothered to read the instruction manual (since I'm a guy) before playing with my new toy. All went great for about 2 minutes, it was cutting grass like a charm, when all of a sudden the engine started sputtering. Then the recoil rope wouldn't budge any longer. Panicked and slightly upset, I quickly took it back to ACE for the manager and staff to look at. In a few minutes, they diagnosed the problem right away. My moronic self forgot to add the motor oil that came with the mower and now the engine had seized. Right out in the front parking lot, James the manager (on his lunch break!) and his staff quickly tried to fix it, first by trying to loosen the ?motor by striking at it, and when that didn't budge I was sent to buy some anti-seize. I had voided the warranty by not adding motor oil so repairs would've been costly ($400), but the ACE staff were not giving up yet. After meeting them out by the back dock, James got down and dirty and loosened the main part with antiseize and voila, got the entire mower to work again. Spectacular job! Anyway I hope they won't get into trouble for this since this was not in their job description to help repair...but the guys felt really bad that I had literally just purchased it and were doing all they can to help me fix it. My hats off to you gentlemen for the attention to my predicament and giving me a crash course on basic engine troubleshooting/repairs. I don't think I would've gotten this kind of service, dedication, and expertise at a HD or Lowe's. Thanks so much for being there and I know I will always go back for future purchases because I can count on them to come through. I'm writing this review to talk specifically about an employee named Adam. Today I had to help a confused Bird who got stuck in a glass elevator space, 4 stories high at the office complex I work at. The poor little guy had been flying about for 2 days, no water, no food and with the heat lately, he was close to death. I called everyone I could think of, animal control, the building engineers, friends, even my fiancé. Everyone laughed or felt slightly bad, and eventually said there's nothing you can do. I went to an apartment complex nearby, borrowed their pool net, it was exhausting, but I finally caught the little bird and set him free. Of course I cried profusely, I was tired, emotionally drained and yet very proud of myself. I returned the net. There have been several birds prior that did not survive and I feel badly I wasn't aware of these unfortunate occurrences. I decided then and there to make a net that could be kept ready and waiting should another opportunity come along, and they will, the glass basically keeps the birds from finding their way back out. I went to Ace Cherry Creek and upon coming in, Adam greeted me. I explained what I needed, he didn't say you can't do this, it's silly or anything like that. Instead, he helped me find several items to build the net that I'm sure will save many a bird to come. Adam from the bottom of my heart, you believed in me when no else would, your creativity and knowledge of your store and assistance in finding the items available to build the net was exceptional. The saying "Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks." Doesn't even begin to touch on how helpful, thoughtful and passionate you were. You impressed me sir. I have fond memories of our local Ace Hardware in Carmel Indiana when I was growing up. It was in an old building with worn wooden floors in the old downtown area. Our favorite guy, Leonard, was ready to help us solve our problems and point us to the right spot. They had EVERYTHING despite the fact that the hardware was small. I miss it a lot. The Cherry Creek Ace Hardware on South Holly is relatively new and is a welcome addition to my neighborhood. I've been able to find most of my basic hardware items here and the best thing is that they have a lot of employees walking around the store ready to help. I've never had to wait more than 15 seconds when I need help. The employees all wear headsets and are in communication with each other. If the person you talk to doesn't know the answer they can talk to someone else instantly. I haven't found a replacement for Leonard yet, but this hardware is on the right track. This isn't the place to go for a truckload of lumber or bulk supplies, but for the basics it is great. A small store has a lot of advantages over the huge hardware outlets like Home Depot. You can get from one side of the store to the other in 10 seconds making your search much faster. I go to this Ace hardware first before I resort to Home Depot or Lowes. read more

Even though it's not located in Cherry Creek, I still love my neighborhood hardware store! I think of Ace as kind of like an old fashioned general store. I just love how convenient it is to run in and pick up any random item I may need - an extension cord, light bulbs, a garden hose nozzle, planters and potting supplies. I even got a couple of rolls of Christmas wrapping paper for $1.00 each this year. I stop by every Spring to pick up my annuals. They've got a great selection of flowers, and I usually have a coupon to make the yard more beautiful at a lower price. I also like the locally made products conveniently displayed at the check out counters. There was honey, lotions and soaps, and candy during my last visit. The staff is super friendly. And if you need a snack while you shop, they have free popcorn. Yay! read more

As if fixing things is not bad enough, people subject themselves to putting themselves into life size mazes such as Home Depot or Lowes. If you live near the Cherry Creek / Glendale area, avoid that Jazz and have an enjoyable experience while supporting local business. This place is great! This is MY Ace store now. My wife and I live closer to another Ace, but the people and service here Re worth a little time in the car. It is amazing how many times we talk about how we like this Ace over the others and Home Depot. I know the prices are sometimes a little higher than Home Depot, but not having to fight the crowds as well as the traffic make it well worth it. The sanity I have left, as well as popcorn, make a trip to Ace well worth it. In addition, I am not convinced the prices are really any higher and the help is amazing. When you think of hardware, you don't (or I should say, I don't) think of Ace Hardware store. I have been a couple of times to this Ace Hardware store by my house and I have always had excellent service. The staff is friendly and very helpful. What made me write this review. Last week during the snow storm, I stopped by Ace hardware to pick up some salt for the driveway. They carried the 40lb bag of salt to my car! What great customer service. When I purchased 10 bags of 50lbs of sand, they loaded it in my car and made sure that the weigh was evenly distributed so as not too put too much weigh over one wheel. I didn't even think of that! They are always friendly and helpful. I will frequent Ace much more due to their customer service. read more

Everytime I walk into this Ace I'm greeted in a friendly manor and instantly, always making me feel wanted. Not only is all the staff friendly but they are all so quick to ask you if you need help and will walk you over to the area and help you. Even if they might not have the item your looking for they still steer you in the right direction. There are two gentlemen there that always tend to be right on top of it and always help me out. James or Jason(horrible with names) and another older gentlemen who's name escapes me at the moment. I have three Ace Hardware locations within a 10 minute drive of my house and although the other two are OK, this is easily the best of the 3. The level of service is just unparalleled. The employees are friendly, experienced and ready to help as soon as you go inside. If you tell someone in front what you're looking for, they'll even use their headset to contact the appropriate person who will be waiting for you when you get there. As a relatively-new homeowner, I can attest that this really makes a huge difference when you're searching for a particular screw, bolt or other odd piece of hardware. Even on the busiest days (sale weekends) they staff the cashiers appropriately and I've never had to wait more than a couple of minutes. I love a business that respects the value of my time, and that's a big reason why this place is at the top of my list. read more

Not once have I ever walked out of this store with a smile on my face or the part that I wanted. Normally I like Ace, as I can get small quantities of hardware at a reasonable price, close to home. I've been to this particular Ace location (which is close to my dayjob) four times now, and EVERY TIME have been disappointed. The service is terrible, NO ONE has ever approached me asking if I need help, and every single time the particular part I need is out of stock. Empty rack in that section, always. Today was the biggest disappointment, when not only did I wander around (undoubtedly looking lost) for at least 5-10 minutes trying to find the electrical/lighting part that I need, but no one helped me, and the rack was empty. Lame. Frustrating. A waste of my lunch hour. I'll stick to the Ace on 26th/Kipling. There, always get at least two people asking me if I need help, and they actually stock their store. read more

I have a fondness for Ace Hardware stores. It's so nice to go somewhere and get personalized service from people who actually know something (or seem like they do)! Ace is such a throwback to the way shopping used to be 'back in the day' and all the staff I encountered at this store were super-nice. And if they didn't know the answer to something, they found someone who did (no shrugging shoulders or 'I dunnos'). This store is larger than some of the others in this area and there's a big parking lot (another big plus!). While this store isn't the closest to my house, I'll probably shop here more than the others since this location doesn't have the hassle of parking that other locations do.
