The Cherokee Grand Hottel gouged us and charged ~$220 for one night. At $70, I would still feel cheated. The owners should be embarrassed of themselves. We stayed in the supposedly renovated main building. Our room was filthy. There was fresh blood on the bottom of the toilet seat. Large crumbs and a discarded drink top were strewn across the floor. A vacuum cleaner may not have touched that floor in days. In its current state, I would NEVER stay again at this hotel. Based on the condition of the room and facility, I would not want to spend more than $50 per night. The room was so cringey that we couldnt sleep in the supplied linen. We slept in our clothes on top of a blanket that we brought with us (we left the blanket behind with the bad memories.) This place was so bad, that we knew that if we asked for another room, it would be just as dirty... or worse. We actually woke up tired and sore from this ordeal. A horrible night after a great Santana concert. Things were so bad that we didnt even want to try their "free breakfast." NEVER AGAIN NOTE: Two positives: 1.) The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The room had been renovated and was clean. Having a shuttle over to the casino was a plus but the shuttle itself was nasty. It needed a good interior cleaning. The remnants from someone who had gotten sick was on the side of the shuttle where I was sitting. It was not a recent mess either. I've been staying at this hotel for about 8 years. It's had its ups and downs. Staff have always been great. A clean bathroom and comfortable sheets AND a decent array of breakfast choices is what makes me happy. This last visit was decent. I didn't like the room they gave me -- 2nd floor balcony. People love to stand outside and talk on their phone or visit or smoke and it's just annoying to have to listen to. My bathroom and shower was extremely clean which I was really pleased with, but the sheets are so harsh sometimes. Also I was suspicious because all the pillow cases were smooth and one was very crinkled and it made me worry they didn't wash it from the previous guest. I love that they have a shuttle to/from the casino every hour til 1am. I'll go back but idk...the energy there just isn't what it used to be. People seem miserable everywhere and it seems difficult to find people that want to work. I WON'T be going to Harrah's anymore for a long long time until they get more staff. Couldn't get a drink for 4 hours at the blackjack tables...anyway, that's a side note. I love the CGH. I dropped a star because they used to offer more for the money, but these are strange times we're in and I sure hope we, as a population, learn to get our faces out of our phones and back into tangible life. read more

Great location, close to everything. Extremely clean. Comfortable beds and the selection for breakfast is good. Even my extremely picky son was happy with it. Staff is friendly. AJ at the front desk was so helpful with restaurant recommendations and just the nicest guy to chat with. Drink machine accepts cards but snack machine does not so bring change if you plan to snack. Microwave, coffee machine, fridge and DVD player in room, with movies at the front desk to borrow. Heat/AC work well, no funny motel smells. I only stayed for one night, but check in was a breeze. The hotel was nice, and I was right by the pool. I didn't mind being in the building on the side, because I wanted the convenience of being so close to the pool. The room was clean, tidy, and comfortable. I didn't take pics, but I should have. No worries, I'll probably be back again next weekend. The rate is higher on fri/sat, but I respect the hustle. We have stayed here MANY times, and we always loved it. However this weekend we were set to check in on Thursday 09/22/2022 and check out on Monday 09/26/2022, we got to the hotel at 4:00pm. I have a service dog, I walk in and another guest was checking in and I kept noticing that the person that worked there kept looking at me, we when I got to the counter, I knew he was looking at my dog. So I said "she is a service dog, and I will show you her papers, he then told me that they don't allow service dogs, I said that is against the law, and since we have stayed here many times, I ask for him to call Chip, the manager, and he called someone not sure if it was chip, but I was still told that they did not allow service dogs. So I walked out and I will be filing a formal complaint with the ADA. It is a sad day that people are discriminated against for having a illness. Do better Chip and the staff at this place. We will NEVER be back. I also hope that none of the owners or managers ever have a medical illness. read more

Have stayed here several times, in serious business need of remodel and update. Lobby furniture awful , beds ok , linens , not so much. Didn't see till next day but blankets had something dolled on them. We had ants on the bathroom. The door lock was useless, which made for an uncomfortable night. Did have iron ! Our room was in the interior corridor portion of the hotel. Room was nice and clean. Walking distance to the casino, but they also provide shuttle service. The front desk clerk, Larch is extrememly rude. We encountered Larch several times during our stay, and everytime, the same rudeness. We did have an ANT infestation and no maid service. I informed Larch of the ants and told him we were going out for the day, so maintenance could go ahead and spray. NEVER received an appology! Extreme disappointment! We have stayed at Cherokee grand in the past and thought we knew what to expect. When I saw that it was on sale via Booking.com, I booked us a room & I was very excited about the price. We arrived last night, checked in and the lady gave us the key and told us to exit the building and go to the right. I was confused because it's a hotel with an elevator. When we followed her directions it was a separate building that was more of a motel. I was surprised, but that's not really a problem.... until we walked in. OMG! I have attached pictures to this review. It was very old. Holes in the walls, paint chipping off, old broken furniture & absolutely NO Counterspace in the bathroom. I immediately cancel the reservations we had at that hotel for Labor Day weekend I am booked somewhere else. We have stayed here before & were happy being in the hotel. We stayed here to begin our journey on the Blue Ridge Scenic Parkway. The price was very reasonable for a Friday night. Check in was easy and desk attendant was nice. We got our key to the room and headed upstairs. When we opened the door, the smell of the room was so bad. It smelled like a musky damp smell. We turned on the AC and it helped a little. When we getting in the bed we noticed the white comforter/down blanket had stains all over it. Overall the price was reasonable but the rooms need attention. I Will research more on reviews next time we have to find a hotel quickly. read more

We rented a room with a Jetta tub but when we got there they said they ran out of those rooms. We asked what they could do for us and they said nothing. The room wasn't really pretty. And when we checked the small fridge in the room, there was an old salad and the fridge reeked of salad. There were ants in the tub and on the tables. After that we were just paranoid of any ants on our bed or any bed bugs. Luckily, they were able to approve a return for Saturday night but initially we had booked Friday-Sunday. The hotel isn't good. And we paid 123 for a night. It's too pricy for what they give. Not worth it!!! I WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO THIS HOTEL EVER! The only reason I am giving it 2 stars is because the workers there are soooo nice! They are super sweet. Other than that, seriously GROSS! Great place to stay in Cherokee NC. Service was great and rooms and bathrooms were clean. Clean sheets and linens. The cable went out within the first 5 minutes so we called the desk and a young man came to the room immediately to rectify the problem which was simply a cable adapter that went bad on the tv. Within 10 minutes the man came through our door with a large and heavy new tv. Hooked it up and even adjusted the aspect ratio for us. We feel this shows how important our little comforts are to them. read more

Terrible customer service. We planned a last minute trip, made reservation 48 hours in advance, had to give credit card info to make reservation. First snow storm of the year, so we cancelled. Most of the roads between where we live were closed in the park. They charged us full price for the room!!! They said they have a 48 hour cancellation policy. When we talked to the manager, Bambi, she was rude and really didn't care this situation. We didn't feel welcomed at all and felt like we were bothering her. She really ruined the start of our visit to Cherokee. It's unbelievable that she holds that position. Hope the owners know that. Fortunately, the other staff members were a lot nicer. I tried to put in a reservation using their website but it there was a error that popped up while I was trying to make the reservation so I didn't think that it went through. Three days later I notice that $166.14 was taken off of my card. I called customer service and told them what happen they checked and could find where I ever had any reservation at all so the money shouldn't have came out of my account. Just make sure that you get confirmation from this hotel are you will pay for a reservation that you didn't know that you had. read more

Pretty gross hotel, really needs an update and a deep clean. Room had a terrible odor, bugs can fit right under door and so does the neighbors cigarettes smoke. AC unit so loud, I was awoken all night by it's clanking on. Many tiles missing out of the shower flooring. A female swimsuit liner stuck to the wall. Everything needs to be gutted out of those rooms and burned. Won't stay there again, I felt gross. The chairs in the room look like they came out of a dumpster. The staff was friendly, nice to have a shuttle, good location. Continental breakfast provided. Pool was okay, but the all of plastic lay out chairs are cracked and will hurt your butt. There are also pool chairs that at one time were red... but are now brown from dirt and mildew. Beds are terrible! My neck and back hurts. The pillows are small and lumpy. Info on website not accurate. Shuttle stops at 12am. Confirmed an 11:30am checkout time. Front desk called at 11:04am and then hung up. They called back and said it was past check out time. DO NOT STAY HERE! We booked two nights and had to leave after one night. We stayed there for a concert at the casino which was fine due to proximity. Toilet backed up 2 hours after we arrived. A guy brought a plunger and said he would be back to give us new towels and clean the floor... we had to leave for the concert. When we came back he had not returned. Sink backed up, shower floor overflowed, mold on the baseboard, beds hard as rocks... if it had not been late, there is no way we would have stayed there even one night. We complained the next morning and asked to cancel the second night and they did not apologize, make any adjustments, just said we signed the no cancellation policy and charged us for both nights. We left and it cost us.... $282. for one brief night of nothing but headaches. HORRIBLE PLACE AND RUDE PEOPLE. DO NOT STAY HERE. read more

My girlfriend and I stayed at the hotel 4/12 to 4/15 in. The night staff was great. I wish I had gotten their names. I like the humor that the staff has. This is our 2nd time staying here and we did book through a discount service. The room was in the main hotel on the 2nd floor both times. The decor is outdated but the rooms were clean, no bugs like in previous reviews. The lobby was beautifully decorated for the holidays. A positive for me that unlike the casino hotel, there is a microwave in my room and free wi-fi although it did say weak security. There is no continental breakfast here, only free coffee. This past weekend was bad weather and the lady on Sunday was the only employee so she did tell us to let her know if we needed room service or anything. We reuse towels and prefer not to have daily room service so that suited our needs just fine. The only gripe I had was that there are only 3 or 4 hangers and no drawers for clothes. The bathroom even had a swivel makeup mirror which was handy for the ladies. This hotel is within walking distance to the casino in good weather and driving distance in bad. All in all, we were pleased with the deal we got and will continue to book this hotel if needed. read more

Currently in my 70s, this is the most deplorable hotel I've ever stayed in, bar none. During our four night stay, our beds were never made. (They tell you when you check-in that they have a rule that the bed will not be made if any object is left on the bed, so we were mindful to leave our beds clear of any personal items.) We had to ask for towel replacements and had to pick them up at the front desk. The room was never vacuumed, nor was the bathroom sink wiped out. Only the bathroom trashcan was emptIed (once) during our 4-day stay. No wonder there were roaches. I can only assume that Harrah's provides them adaquate business to keep this hotel afloat, as no one in their right mind would pay them a second visit. Most importantly, there was belligerence from the hotel staff, with every excuse in the book about why our expectations were not being met. Our room rates doubled for the third and fourth nights because it was the weekend. That rate was $189, which might have been an okay price for an efficient, clean and customer-oriented hotel.
