Last time we were here in Cherokee, my husband and I vowed to stay at this hotel-casino next…read moretime... So our latest excursion to Cherokee (mainly to resupply our stock of THC lol), we stayed overnight at the hotel. First of all, the positives! The hotel-casino is quite unique in many ways. It's definitely NOT The Venetian or the Mandalay...with its Vegas-style loft and splendor. It's a MUCH more subdued, modest version of a hotel casino...much smaller. In fact, you can walk from one of the hotel-casino within 15 minutes. Still large...but not Vegas Large. The hotel is also very senior-friendly...with its lush carpeting throughout. Walking on these carpets make you feel as if you're roller skating. Very easy on the joints...so for someone like my husband, with knee issues, and me with my sporadic ankle issues (a long life in heels!), this had to be a lush walk in the park! The hotel also has a rustic style...almost a ranch housing style...complete with a rustic creek right outside. It really matched the Cherokee vibe. Despite the size, the hotel-casino houses plenty of eats and drinks, including a Gordon Ramsey food court...an upscaled food court with chef-inspired street foods. The foods were pretty good (for a food court especially!), but my repeat complaint is that the place is understaffed...and possibly under-managed. Also, the online-screen ordering system is NOT senior-friendly. They also have nicer restaurants on site, like the Guy Fieri's Kitchen + Bar, Ruth Cris, Soco Smokehouse, Amici's, etc.etc. Now the disappointing parts. Again, the entire hotel-casino seems understaffed. Even during busy check-in hours, there were only 2 reps working the hotel reception desks! We stayed in the Mountain Tower, the newer buidling...so newer rooms! As expected, the room was quite nice upon entering. Seemed very new...and clean. However, as you look closer, you'll see and feel all the cracks. The room and bathroom amenities were quite weak (not even water bottles offered in the rooms, for one)...yet you pay nearly 40 bucks a night on resort fees! The bath amenities were also cheap! As new as the room was, the the toilet lever and the tissue holder was already looking like it was cracking. The mattresses on the bed were super soft and super cheap...and ridiculously creaky! Possibly the creakiest mattress I've experienced in decades!!! The A/C was also very weak (felt 72 at 67 degrees)...and you can hear this fairly loud noise (almost like a mini helicopter flying over your bed?) the whole time! You can just tell that the hotel management did a ton of cost cutting within these rooms...even the newer additions! On top of these substandard room amenities, the worst part?!? Their check-in time is 4 pm! I know more and more hotels are going toward later check-in times, but I feel this is a huge scam. Guests are expected to pay more for less hours in a room...one that isn't even being cleaned on a daily basis (but every few days). Not sure how often they cleaned these rooms, however, since we only stayed 1 night. Overall, we still managed to enjoy the stay...walking around the plush carpeted hotel, doing some minor league gambling (slot machines), and eating-drinking in (without having to drive out of the hotel). However, be warned...this is NOT the Vegas quality you might come to expect from hotel-casinos.

Had a great visit to Harrah's Cherokee Casino while staying nearby at Days Inn. The casino is neat,…read morespacious, and well organized, which made it easy to move around and enjoy the experience. The service desk was very helpful, and as a newcomer, I received a $25 table coupon, which was a nice bonus. The food court had several fast food options--quick, convenient, and satisfying between games. Roulette is my go-to, and luckily, I had a good run and even won some money, which definitely made the trip more fun. Overall, it's a solid casino experience with good service and a comfortable atmosphere. It may not have the scale or energy of Las Vegas, but it's still a great spot for a fun getaway.

I was hesitant to return to the Fairfield Inn in Cherokee again but the rooms in Murphy were more…read moreexpensive and looked very outdated so I decided I was better off with going where I had been before and just needed somewhere to sleep. I was provided a welcome bag with a water, Doritos and a Hershey bar. So that was nice. The AC in the hallways were working this visit and the AC in the room was working. So I am glad those issues were fixed. The hotel seemed much different than my prior stay. A problem still not addressed is with the outlets as there was not anywhere to plug in my laptop at the desk. The only outlets I could find were in the bathroom and on the bedstand. I did find a power strip behind the desk later but those were all being used. The tv turned on by itself at 2:52am and woke me up. So if I ever stay here again, I will unplug the tv before going to sleep. Breakfast was mostly good but some of the items like the fruit compote, seemed rancid. After one bite I decided it wasn't worth getting sick. The items weren't stored properly or replaced with fresh from the day before. I was happy to move on. If someone hadn't set the timer on the tv to turn on in the middle of the night, this would have been a great stay. So I would return here again but unplug the tv the next time.

It was also conveniently located across from the casino, so we could get late night food, as we arrived late in the evening. They also had a great spread for breakfast, which was included in our cost. There was also a small gym, which allowed me to squeeze in a quick run in the morning. The staff were incredibly kind as well. We would definitely come back for stop through to the Smokies.

Excellent propriety on all fronts. It's clean, the staff is pretty cool (maybe slightly guarded),…read moreand the convenience to Harrah's is incredible. Just walk across the street. You also get free breakfast, quiet rooms, and a seasonal pool. If I were really searching for any negatives, booking this place is somewhat of a gamble because they don't do refunds. That's based on my experiences anyway. But you will get incredible value! The only other negative is that you have to take the scenic route around the river one way or the other to get to the property. If it's late at night anf you're a female, you might want to walk with a friend or ask security to escort you. I have never heard of any problems like that in Cherokee. This is probably because the tribe wants people coming back. If you interfere, it ain't gonna be good! This is their land. I highly recommend you respect it. The clink on an Indian reservation is probably one of the last places you want to be. We went off the reservation on the review though, didn't we? My bad! This is an awesome place to stay. Not my #1 in the area but my top three due to convenience and the ability to walk to the hotel (I drink red wine sometimes). I will be staying here for one night very soon. Looking forward to it. And I will not tell you my #1 property in the area. I want to keep that secret to myself. But this place is pretty awesome!

Our breakfast was home cooked by the owners wife , Sue, and was delicious! A vegetable frittata served right out of the cast iron skillet. Good and hot! It looks like one of those older motels where all rooms are ground level and you park right outside your door. The main office is very small with a window to talk to the clerk. We had made reservations over the phone and everything was in order. We got our key and parked right outside our room door. The room is a bit small but better described as cozy rather than cramped. Walking in you find the bed and a small sitting area with the bathroom at the rear of the room. Everything was in good working order and smelled fresh. This was everything we wanted in a room and nothing we did not need. It was also very quiet, and you could sit out in front of your room if you wanted to enjoy the cooler evening. We did not try the breakfast as we had planned to meet at a local restaurant, but the omelets certainly looked good. We absolutely would stay here again when in the area, and next time we will try their breakfast.

We stayed in the supposedly renovated main building. Our room was filthy. There was fresh blood on the bottom of the toilet seat. Large crumbs and a discarded drink top were strewn across the floor. A vacuum cleaner may not have touched that floor in days. In its current state, I would NEVER stay again at this hotel. Based on the condition of the room and facility, I would not want to spend more than $50 per night. The room was so cringey that we couldnt sleep in the supplied linen. We slept in our clothes on top of a blanket that we brought with us (we left the blanket behind with the bad memories.) This place was so bad, that we knew that if we asked for another room, it would be just as dirty... or worse. We actually woke up tired and sore from this ordeal. A horrible night after a great Santana concert. Things were so bad that we didnt even want to try their "free breakfast." NEVER AGAIN NOTE: Two positives: 1.) The hotel personnel were courteous and seemed pleasant. 2.) I checked for bed bugs and didnt see any.
